    It took me 3 years. I'm a 50 year old woman. 5'6". I did a total lifestyle change! Plant based diet. Less fast food and processed food. 8 hours sleep each night. Drink more water. Exercise everyday for 1 hour. I was 211 lbs. Now I'm 140 lbs. It can be done.

    Congrats!!! I started at 240lbs and weighed in at 155lbs last week. I'm 5'6" and my goal is 140. My Driver's License photo looks like an entirely different person. It took me years to lose the weight, keep it off, and eat in a balance way. I eat protein, carbs, and healthy fat(avocado, olive oil) for meal. Fruit everyday, 2-3 pieces. I do not deprived myself and learning that good is nutrition not emotional crutches helped a lot.

      My goal is to lose about 30-50lbs. My goal is to celebrate consistency instead of weight loss because it’s a lifestyle change and not just a weight loss goal. My weight will fluctuate even once I get to maintenance so I should look at something I can control and celebrate doing that. I’m in my first week. My first consistency goal is 1 month consistent

    I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I recently began my raw food journey. I will caution younger vegans with this piece of advice. As you age, your metabolism will decrease. Later in your life you may find that you do not burn off starches as well as you did in your younger years. This is especially true for women. Therefore, be prepared to cut back on starches as you age. Replace starches with more green leafy vegetables and fruit for bulk. PS also, try not to concentrate on the need to feel full. As Americans we often feel that we must feel full or stuffed or satiated before we stop eating. Vegans often seek starches as replacements for that full feeling meat gives. But it is not necessary to feel full every time one eats. Rather, concentrate on giving the body the nutrition it needs. The brain takes 20 minutes to register fullness. But people are steadily eating during that time. By the one gets the signal to stop eating, one has already overeaten

    • @nathaliecooman8272
      @nathaliecooman8272 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I tried the starch solution but unfortunately I lost weight but I kept a lot of water on my body and feel numb. Because of no fat. My body needs less carbs and more fat. The fats are important for the female hormones. So everybody is different. But amazing that it works for a lot of people

    • @michelepayton6922
      @michelepayton6922 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Studies have shown that it’s not natural for metabolism to slow just because we age. It’s because we eat the wrong foods and don’t get the proper regular exercise. Some cardio is good, but strength training is very important and cannot be ignored.
      A vegan diet isn’t necessarily a healthy diet. The plant-based (starch-based) diet that is shown in the video is free from all added oils, processed and high fat foods while in the weight loss phase. Later, small amounts of higher fat foods, such as avocados, nuts, etc. may be added as long as they don’t start to cause weight gain, but no oils of any kind (and that includes olive oil, which is NOT a “healthy” fat) are to be eaten. They are not even necessary for sautéing, which can be done just as well with a bit of water or vegetable broth.

I love eating like this. I make great recipes I create myself. Potatoes was my best friend. I was 204 lbs. I'm 140 lbs. Since I'm 5' 2" and 140 is too much for me. I just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I had enough. I walked for 30 mins most of the time. I love fabulous 50s workouts and hip hop workout with Phil. The old tao bao videos on TH-cam. I bought exercise equipment. Plus I don't think I would have lost as much if it wasn't for intermittent fasting.

    This is great since it’s not perpetuating unhealthy weight loss… I’ve seen videos of people loosing that much weight for a few months!! 14 months seems like a good steady time line to loose weight. I’m the opposite, I grew up slim and I could eat anything I wanted and not gain weight, now that I hit my early 40’s I notice my metabolism slowing down. I do eat healthy majority of the time… I’m trying plant based now with the occasional meats when I’m with relatives.

It isn't 100% noticeable, only if i move in a certain way lol it deff does bother me a bit but i also gave birth to my beautiful boy so that played a role into it.. if anyone struggles with loose skin, start to strength train more & drink your water. Again there is no cream or oils to completely help the loose skin.. dont get discouraged, it is normal but also genetics play a role into this as well. Best of luck on your journey!

    For anyone attempting to loose weight, it's important to know that fat is stored in adipose tissues found in muscles and other body organs so Please go easy on yourself,
    start with less meat intake, like 2-3times per week,
    substitute with eggs, tofu, chicken and other lighter proteins,
    satisfy your cravings once in a while till you can control your sugar/oil intake
    Drink lots of water, it's easier to excrete water from our body than starchy or high carb foods
    Eat smaller portions after working out/exercising or larger portions before exercising.
    Practice breathing and stretching exercises before, during and after jogging, you don't necessarily need to hit the gym and use the equipments till you feel like you've built your strength
    Take over the counter painkillers and ointments for sore joints, supplements for energy and not energy drinks,
    Lastly, know that loosing weight is a process and it takes a while, stay dedicated and you'll see minor improvements like 1kg weight losses per week, consistency with exercise would yield major improvements....

    Incredible job. Such a great approach to weight loss & sustainability. And! Healing your body for a healthier body for life not just to lose weight at the cost of your health long term like keto & carnivore. The long term damage for ppl on that diet short & long term are heartbreaking for them in the future. It’s not spoken about enough. Long term low fat plant based is incredible for us. I’d been consistently gaining weight as a vegan - I first went vegan at 17 weighing 140 and at my heaviest just a couple months ago I weighed 190. Now I’m on a weight loss journey (still veg ofc) but I’m actually going to the gym (focused on running and heavy lifting) and have stopped overeating so the weight is coming off so fast and I can already see a change in my body. So I’m realizing my problem was not the type of foods I was eating, but rather the large quantity and lack of exercise. It’s important to remember that a plant-based diet is not guaranteed to make you lose weight - you still have to be on a calorie deficit. It’s just easier to lose weight as a vegan because plants have less calories than meat.

    Hi Kiki! I’ve been following you since your IG debut 2+ years ago. I’ve read The Starch Solution, and ate this way for several months with success. However, after experiencing some health issues not related to eating, I added meat and dairy back into my diet and honestly, I feel terrible. I have researched many types of diets and it seems so many of the health gurus push keto. I don’t want to diet or eat just to lose weight. I am more concerned with nourishment and replacing the vitamins and minerals that I’m lacking. I know you’ve discussed the health issues you had prior to your wfpb method of eating. May I ask...have your hormones/thyroid, liver enzymes, and your adrenals been checked since following the lifestyle you currently do? Some doctors frown on low fat and plant based lifestyles stating we need the nutrients from animals. I’m asking because I would like to return to starch based, but worry that I’ll be depleted in necessary nutrients and my thyroid, liver, and adrenals will be affected. Thank you in advance for responding.

Just work along with a doctor who LISTENS to you and make sure your meeting the needs for your body. If supplementation is recommended, I would say take the one KiKi is using, I used it and my bloodwork was amazing! That was before I found her channel and started adjusting my eating habits. I’ll be interested to see how it changes now, but I feel great eating this way. I just went on vacation and let loose because it was easier, instant regret! I’ve never felt so tired or unwell.
