  • Budget fishing reels are getting better and better, and no reel shows that progress like the Daiwa Fuego. With a price just below $100, the Fuego takes the lightweight yet tough construction that Daiwa is known for and makes it available to anglers who might be just getting into the sport and want something that's going to last them for years and give a great performance, while not setting their wallet back a few hundred.

    I've been spending WAY too much on spinning gear over the last couple of months, and just finished it off by ordering the Fuego LT in a 2000 size. It will be my first Daiwa reel, so I am kinda excited and hope it will live up to the kind words that alot of people seem to have for it.

    I bought a Daiwa Fuego last year; loved it so bought 2 more. All 3 2500. I'm planning on getting a 3rd, so will try the 3000. Thanks for the tip!

    Biggest regret was not getting my fuego in a 3000 size. The power T shaped handle is much more comfortable

    Best $100 reel on the market. Definitely bulletproof! 💪🎣

    Yep! I like it. It's a good one. Daiwa has always been good to me, all the way back to the early-'70s! Back then I could stop at a "Super America" (SA) gas station and buy a good Daiwa reel, on the way to wherever I was going to fish. The reel worked fine, every time! Usually, I grabbed a couple Berkley Cherrywood rods on the way out the door; those rods worked fine also; they are still sold today. Yep, that was life back then, folks! If those "SA" Daiwa reels were worth $29.99 back then, these reels are certainly worth $100.00 today, ~fifty years later!

    Have it on my bass x and love it! The drag is very quiet so some people may have to get used to that

    I have a few 2021 Fuego CS LT, the new zaion v frame and rotor make this reel a crazy value now. Only paid 100$ on ali for each one too and I honestly can't tell a difference between them and my ballistics. Not sure why we havent gotten the updated zaion v body and rotor in NA yet.

      For the price, the Fuego is certainly hard to beat!

    It’s even better if they beef up the reel body like Shimanos. This reel flexes like crazy when you hooked on a big fish.

    My main 'complaint' about Diawa spinners is that the USDM versions have larger spools - meaning more backing to fill it before topping it with your mainline. I'd love to see the JDM versions with smaller spools available here. I know it's nit-picking, but it's a reason I go elsewhere for spinners even though I'm a Diawa fan for baitcasting.

    What’s the difference between the C, CP, and CXH in the 5000 models? Tia

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      C stands for compact, XH stands for high gear ratio. A CXH reel would be a compact frame in a higher gear ratio. For example, a 3000CXH will have the same frame size as a 2500 (with more line capacity) and it is also a higher gear ratio, such as a 6.2:1 instead of 5.2:1. Hopefully that helps!

    How does it compare to the BG? I think the BGs metal so probably heavier but smoothness?

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Out of the box they will feel similar, but the BG will stay smooth longer due to its heavy duty construction. However, as you mentioned, the BG is also much heavier.

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are great reels, very smooth, and each with their own unique attributes. The BG is a heavier reel all around, but it is also designed to work as a saltwater reel and has the right components for corrosion resistance. So if you're planning to do any crossover between freshwater and saltwater, the BG might be the best choice.

    What 2 sizes did you compare in this video?

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top-down comparison around 2:13 shows a 4000-size on the left and a 3000 on the right.

    How do you swap the side off the handle to left handed

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hold the spool and reel backwards and the handle will start to unscrew. Then you can can unscrew the cap from the opposite side of the reel and replace it with the handle. Hope that helps!

    I got one 3000 a few weeks ago, it looks awsome but it's really not tough at all. put it in my back pack along with my two other reels, when I tried to cast realised the bail wire had bent...

    What rod would you pair it up with? I have 2 daiwa fuegos 3000 series?

    • @bassutopia
      @bassutopia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A spinning rod in the 7 foot range would be good!

    • @bcon610
      @bcon610 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How far can you cast a 3000 on a 7ft medium rod? It didn't pair well with my 7ft light phenix. Maybe about 30 yards.

    larger diameter spool doesn't help you pick up line faster, its the rotor diameter and gear ratio that determines line retrieve per turn. spool size has nothing to do with it.

    Never buy a $100.00 reel that doesn't have an aluminum frame. This one doesn't.

    • @bosesebi6685
      @bosesebi6685 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      None at that price does, even if they all should. Because for a 100 you can buy a good lets say, chainsaw.
