    Great Video thanks. Ive had a Daiwa BG Magseal 6000 for a year now and needs service, i can not buy Mag fluid in my country (South Africa) i wish i knew that before i bought the reel as i need to send the reel across the country to get serviced at quite a cost, Daiwa should clearly state this to people before they buy their reels, if Daiwa made the Fero fluid available for reatail i would buy more Magseel products but unfortunately i wont now. And i speak for 1000s of fisherman. Replaced BG with Saragosa 6000 now and i can service and get parts to my house, much more cost efective and practical. If Daiwa changes this and sell fluid in small quantities firstly their reel sales will sky rocket and ill also start using their reels again. I will not be funnled and controlled by a drop of oil :)

      You can buy ferrofluid with a sintetic base oil that is used for various other purposes, Daiwa will not sell theyr "original" in purpose, but is far from something unobtainable
      Search the internet for Ferrotech oil and you will probably find it in your country, supposedly this company that makes the oil for Daiwa itself, since there is only a handfull of companies that make that kind of specific ferrofluid. Most times you will find ferrofluid oils that are used for sound systems, I'm using this kind of oil sold at other aftermarkets, used it in my Daiwa Caldia CS LT and I could see no difference in the stuff

      I have Fuego Lt 2500 magsealed which felt in saltwater together with rod,after that reel was not the same,even when come home and clear it litle bit and easy flash it with few drops of fresh water, I want to service it ,but could not do it because of magseal oil,also I contact the store where I purchase it ,to send it to service,interesting is the answer from store, that they send it to other country for service because Daiwa has no service in our country,and the cost for the sending it and for the service will be like buying new reel,so for sure I will not buy again any magseal reel,and about using ferofluid from aftermarket not from Daiwa is no option because You do not know the specs for magseal used in Daiwa reels and what I read online that aftermarket oil last shorter and not the same as original. What I do not understand is,why Daiwa does not want to sell original magseal oil,as this oil is essential part of reel same as other reel parts ,and let people decide will they buy original oil or they will in future avoid this kind of things. I use a lot Fuego reel, and eventualy the reel will fail,so what to do,when it fails? Throw it ,and buy new one? I will not buy again for sure this kind of reel with magseal oil, I have search for months info about what to do for magseal oil,there is info online about aftermarket oil but it is not worth even a try.

    Going on year 3 with my daiwa fuego, only problem Ive had was having to add the plastic washers because the line wasn't spooling evenly. Never serviced them other than spraying down with fresh water after use and both reels still feel like they're brand new.

    magseal is nice, but...i have one reel with a broken bearing shaft for oscillations gear, it is integrated in aluminium body. I wanted to order body part from Daiwa but they refuse to send it (even i have no guarantee ), due the fact that is magsealed reel and to replace i can kill that. It makes no sense to pay so much as new reel cost only 130 usb. Thre are many places in the world where no daiwa service and thre is no need in guarantee repair

      @Dave, I agree. A part or item YOU can't fix or replace, no thanks. 🤣 You can block contaminantes with grease and will always be a standard. It's a good idea short term but in the long run fails. People have reported leakage and failures on these reels.

    Hi Justin. I remember your work with Star Rods. I am debating on investing in the 7'6 and 8'0 Plasma 2s. Are they lightweight yet strong enough to handle fishing from piers an jetties for flounder, striper and tog? Would be pairing with twinpower xd on Mediums and Van staal vr 50 and vr 75 on medium heavy and heavy.

      The Plasma II 8'0 12-25 would be the bare minimum I would use on a VR 50, personally. At least for the type of fishing you're doing.

      Yes that is correct. It's a nice feature to have, but with MQ level of physical sealing, you already have excellent sealing, so I think Magseal is just an added benefit.

    • @Jritchey1211
      @Jritchey1211 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here Brother! A lot of us are. It's a tough item to get in stock right now. But personally, I'd go with the BG MQ if you can muster the difference in cost. The sealing used in the MQ series is substantially better than a Fuego, and they don't even incorporate Magseal in their BG MQ. That's what I'm currently rocking right now.

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jritchey1211 The BGMQ looks like a good reel. I just wish the 2500 size had a tiny bit more IPT. And at double the price will I get double the longevity? I could get two Fuego's for the price of one BGMQ. Appreciate your videos, the club and the insider community info.

    • @Jritchey1211
      @Jritchey1211 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingwiththeOz to answer your question, it's tough to say right now. The BGMQ has only been on the market for ~18 months (only 8 months with the smaller sizes). But based on the MQ concept and where those seals are located, I think its fair to argue that the BGMQ will far outlast a Fuego under the same conditions.

    Genuine question. Unlike you I'm not a DIY expert. I have a couple of European Daiwa mag sealed reels now discontinued (Cast izm 25 QDA).
    I think it's just the main body that is sealed. If I ignore the Magseal will it damage the reel. I mean I only use it in freshwater so I'm not too worried about ingress.
    Or will it damage the reel in general if I ignore the magseal. Hear no evil. See no evil. 😂

      @Jritchey1211 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 words: "No Magseal". Haha. In all seriousness, Penn does a great job with their physical seals on their products. I have owned Slammer IIIs and Spinfisher VIs in the past, and with the exception of an axial bearing going bad on the Slammer III (likely due to water damage around the Anti-Reverse clutch), they were great products.
