      Please coach Donnie do you have a distribution for equipment in South Africa? We badly need equipment in the country to buy them. I checked allvolleyball website however it's in America.

    For the people confused typically arm and leg movement is needed when you get more advanced. This is passing free ball basically but a hard driven swing will require you to pull backwards instead of pushing up and that could also mean popping up and back or popping further down. It all depends on the situation but for hard balls you pull down and sit for light balls like tips use your arms and for free balls use your legs and or arms depending on where you are.

    This is awesome!!
    Question: wouldn't you want to react guiding the ball with your knees instead of moving your arms? (Not sure if this is more applied as you get more experience).

      Hey so I’m starting to really learn receiving and my coach and other sources like Coach Donny have mentioned that popping up (which means using your knees to go up) should not be done. Instead keep your platform still and use your shoulders if you need more height on the ball.

      I was coached like that also... moving arms was always not suggested, because that can lead to errors. Better move legs and just make proper angle with arms. Moving arms could be ok only for really slow balls.

      Yeah, this is how the Americans teach the technique but it works for them.
      Most other countries would teach you to keep your platform steady and use your feet instead. This is because (1) when you tension a muscle you lose accuracy (in this case, the hand) so you'd rather keep the part that's giving the direction of the ball nice and loose so the ball doesn't do a hard bounce (like you see in the beginners), (2) you have more power in your legs than in your arms, so it's much easier for kids do that technique. Of course volleyball athletes can do whatever they fancy cuz they've got the feeling and the muscles to have a good touch. But if you're trying to coach kid, they lack psychical power and they will compensate by swinging their arm up and lose control over the ball.

    • @Ameisenigelytk
      @Ameisenigelytk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Arm movement is only for free balls. I like the approach with the force only coming out of your legs more tbh, cause at least as children it would end up in huge arm swings otherwise.

    • @christianharyono
      @christianharyono 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rocketfuzion6528 depends on the ball. If a freeball yes you can move a bit. But if a float serve or jump serve or spike , u doesnt need to move ur arms up and down like that.

    Rly? I was taught to move my legs aswell as my arm, and that it all come from the leg movement and that it is very important. Why you shoulnt move your legs ? Doesnt make sence

  • @Teeco10

    Wouldn’t it be better to absorb if balls really fast, just a common mistake beginners make when coaches teach like this is swinging at serves and down balls

    • @theexplodingcomet2786
      @theexplodingcomet2786 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      i second this, i was always told to move my arms less when i pass and to use my legs more, was wondering why ur swinging ur arms here no disrespect

    • @IvarsKublins

      @@theexplodingcomet2786yeah, I was coached like that way also... Always move more legs and just make proper angle with arms.
