Will have to try this. I'm a right handed MH that was taught (and teaching) long 1st step, then 2 short(pittypat) steps (RLR). During this off session I'll check out more of your videos to see how I can better my play and teaching. Thanks for sharing.
This video is a lot better than the old one. Very nice, you went over everything so well. The emphasis on the block step this time was great, when I first started I had no block step and ran into issues.
This is huge for me, going into a tourney this weekend where I may have to play OH (im 5’8” and normally a lib), and while I have a decent jump without thinking about my technique, this makes it so much easier to understand and easily apply. Thanks coach!
As a grade 8 hitter/spiker, I couldn't really perfect some things that were needed. But after watching this video, there were some small tips that actually improved my form and jump. Thank you for being my inspiration for volleyball.😁
Vert Shock is a total game changer! I went from barely touching the rim to throwing down dunks in just a few weeks. You can find it here while it's still available: th-cam.com/video/XSwHcXpwD0o/w-d-xo.html To anyone who wants to increase his vertical jump as well: - Focus on exercises that target the muscles used in jumping, such as squats, lunges, calf raises, and deadlifts. Incorporate both bodyweight exercises and weighted exercises to build strength. - Plyometric exercises help improve the power and explosiveness of your muscles. Include exercises like jump squats, box jumps, depth jumps, and bounding in your workout routine. - Work on your jumping technique to optimize your performance. Practice jumping with proper form, including using your arms to generate momentum and landing softly to reduce impact. See you guys when you reached your vertical jump goals!
Thank you Coach Donny! I became obsessed with Volleyball later in life (early 30's) and your tutorials have helped me so much in visualizing the game and my technique. This has helped me make practice sessions and games so much more valuable and rewarding! I've had people come up to me and tell me how much I've progressed over the last year and I've been invited to start playing with more competitive groups thanks to you! Life = Elevated! :)
Appreciate the word cues and graphs overlapping onto the video demonstrating clearly the angles needed for an efficient approach. I plan to utilize your video for my club team and high school team. Sums up nicely. Coach Ron
Never played volleyball, I’m a basketball player, but the volleyball coach wanted to use my Athletic ability for intimidation for a tournament tmr. Using this video to understand the fundamental of hitting a ball because I’m being used to spike and block. Hopefully we win, I’ll let y’all know tmr when it’s done 😂
Great video as always coach Donny. As a fairly short outside hitter, I really need my vertical jump to be the highest it can be, I really appreciate these videos, keep up the great work!
I am a beginner volleyball player and i was really having trouble with the perfect jumping technique but this video was all i needed. Now i feel more explosiveness in my jump. Thanks for sharing this video. I salute your hardwork. Thanks a lot. And please can you make a video 'Role of Wrist in spiking'
Thank you! This really helped me i've always wanted to play volleyball but I could not jump high enough but after watching this I've improved my jump power, although i've never actually played volleyball(i've only practiced volleyball) I've always been inspired to play it though, this really starts my foundation to becoming a volleyball player. THANK YOU!
Great video Coach. Thanks for talking about landing mechanics as well! Only after taking a video of myself spiking did I realize that I was landing in a way that put a lot of stress and soreness on my knees. I'll keep squat-landing in mind next time I practice!
Just going to say. WOW! I just realized that I jump a 1 feet! I followed your posture and movement it actually worked! Taekwondo player here and just started playing volleyball. thanks for your help. btw I Subcribed!

You are one of the better youtube trainers out there, love your videos. I am training kids under 13 but also up to 17 years of age. I refer them to your videos. I hope you continue to make this amazing work, very inspiring to us. And I tell the kids to subscribe
@@Pr9mer this video really helped me. I was struggling with my footwork and attacks. In short always mistimed. Just try to watch it over and over again, it takes time and practice soon you can do it too. Pay attention to the last 2 steps. Trust yourself. 😊
Great technique indeed.. Thanks a lot for detailed explanation of each step and foot angles are new insights.. It is giving me better/best approach for spike
In my opinion, I am able to make contact more often, if finish my run up at the same time as when the ball reaches its highest point , and then I jump and hit it
Really enjoyed this. Production quality is also great! As a middle attacker, do you position a little behind the 3yard line as well? Or more forward. It seems i never have enough time or space to attack properly. Would love more middle attacking tips! Thank you!
Thank you for the tutorials, I've always had problems with my for work, had couple of good runs before the spike, felt good, but then all the other games it felt weird because my foot work was bad. But thank you for the help!
Thank you a lot coach Danny.....since 2019 up to now I become a good volleyballer because of you sir .... recieve my gretings from Africa Kenya 🇰🇪 sir I love you more ......keep training us sir your day will come 🎉
question about the feet rotation: is it that beneficial when it comes to opening up? if your approach is at some slight angle (when hitting from outside), it might not be that necessary. I kinda feel like rotating your feet up to 90 degrees when in a 'full speed' approach makes it more injury prone. Feel free to check e.g. Kamil Semeniuk's approach - he does not rotate his feet and still getting monster vertical. thanks for any advices!
I think you're watching his backrow/pipe attacks - where you actually want to broadjump more. In the frontrow, his left hip is clearly in front, which means he makes a block step. It should actually be less injury prone, since you don't carry close to the net and land on a blocker's foot (or vice versa).
As a 12 year old volleyball player this will really help with how I play. I have a big passion for volleyball and I want to improve. I'm going to write this down so I can memorize this, thank you!
Thank you for this! One other detail maybe that would be a part 2 to this video would be where you are transitioning from. As a right handed OH, you would be arcing into the court vs straight up the line. Left handed RS/Oppo would be arcing into the court. Right handed RS/Oppo would be running up the line. I really needed this video today so thank you for making it!
Hello Sir! I am astounded by the dedication and the quality of content you offer. I actually learnt volleyball through your youtube channel and now i want to show others that a sport can be learnt even without coaches in person with the power of internet. Please add a section about the timing of the approach (when do you start your momentum forward). What do you base it on. Biggest struggle I see with younger players/just learning is starting their movement to early and fast. Thanks

can you do a short video on where the ball should be when you jump? i have a very hard time with this and always end up hitting the ball very back or not hitting it at all.
Got into my school volleyball team. Regional tournament is gonna begin in December, I really need to practice this jump combination because I got assigned as the middle. Any good tips/training routine to make my legs stronger?
thank you for the video. Q: how do I get the timing of my approach to line up with the set. I ask this because when I take my approach correctly I sometimes go too early or too late. Thank you.
I think it depends on how high u jump. In my experience I've only seriously began playing volleyball for a year and for a person who started late I've adapted quickly bt still need to improve. I have a 40" vert (more or less) and I can get my head over a professional net tape. When I hit i time when the ball starts dropping and then I go up. I've had success with it bt I haven't mastered it fully (its a work in progress) . So for the set timing, first find how high u jump, then see how high ur spike hand can reach and then you'll subconsciously start to work your way from there

It's crazy how much better you can hit the ball given the right technique even though you are jumping the same height...
For sure! That’s why technique is so critical
Agreed. I know shorter players that dont jump as high as taller player, yet still hit better simply because of technique.
Need to try it out. I've always spiked without any run up but makes sense you can get higher with forward momentum so the spike will be harder
