- Yes it was bound to happen..things have been going pretty well in the modelling room, but the 'days since and accident' board has been reset to '0'..
These are the brand new open coach no8 kits from Westcliff Works, and they really are packed full of detail, inside, out and underneath. They're being released at the Statfold 009 exhibition, so go and see Alec from Westcliff Works there for yours!
Find Westcliff works on Facebook or NGRM-Online by searching for them.
Cheers

Whoever your “Assistant” is, They should never be let near an OO or OO9 scale model again.
Also, great Models.
They weren’t allowed near them as it was, now I’ve introduced a strict closed door policy..
Fabulous kits, another awesome tutorial 🥳👍
Thanks, yes, Westcliff works really have a high standard in their work
They look brilliant, extremely well produced coaches and really like the paintwork you have done. This is going to be a great series.
Thanks, yes, Westcliff works really do do a fab job, you’ll see in future videos, the level of detail that they do is incredible
Really need to get into narrow gauge
It’s a lovely scale
Love your series! Almost have me wanting to build a 009 instead of o16.5!
I’ll keep chipping away at you 😉
@GWilliamsonModels my problem is the stuff I want to model is 009 but I'm the states and it's costly. My o16.5 is mixed with on30 since it's closer in scale and easier for me to scratch build stock and locos
Superb!
Thankyou good sir
I've actually been in contact with westcliff works and have been waiting for my order since August now with there Stafford barn show overseas orders at on hold so it'll be nicer when I could get some myself!
Yes he is really busy, but once Statfolds out of the way, he should be back on track.
They look brilliant. On my list to go see WCW Saturday, as I'll be unable to leave the loco Sunday! I have prepared myself for financial ruin this weekend...
Yes definitely got and see Alec, lots of good stuff available, but also more in production 👀
I loved watching your channel slowy evolve over the course of the Corris series, can't wait to see where the Taylylln series takes you!
Hopefully somewhere fun! I’m sure it will, I love autumn but have never modelled it
I would 100% go to the exhibition at Statfold as it is down to road from where I live but I’m at an event near Sutton Coldfield with my 7.25” gauge locomotive both days!
That’s a shame, but I’m sure the 7 1/5 will keep you entertained!
I'd love to see more links in the description for the models and some of the other bits you use
So Westcliff works currently don’t have a website, otherwise it would have a link in the description. I don’t tend to do the paints because I have had them for years 😅
@@GWilliamsonModels that's fair 😅
Tidy finish on those :)
Cheers!
It’s a beautiful model set kit I only wished I could get it but I have a lot of things I have to do first
One day!
Wow! Looking good there. Thanks for showing how to prep printed models, as that's all very new to me.
Query: does the printed stock need any additional weight?
Thanks, I’m my opinion, no it doesn’t. It is light, but the locos can only pull a certain amount. On corrish, the loco struggled with the whitemetal trestle wagons.
@@GWilliamsonModelsyeah ... used to get the same probs with the old whitemetal 'Bug Boxes' and Quarrymens' Carriages. The little Arnold (IIRC) chassis used under the whitemetal 'Prince' kit wasn't too bad, but struggled on curved Crazy Track with more than about 4/5 on. Much better on straight, level track, but where's the fun in that??
Ever seen Dave Rowe's old 'Llareggub' layout (built in a smallish fish tank!!)? I believe it's been restored to display standard, in the stewardship of the W&L last I heard.
You should have left the black wash out for your helpers George 😂
Yes, maybe I’ll try that in the future, it would be a real benefit if they helped in a helpful way 😂
Lovely models. PS not all lads!
Yes quite right, I have a cool 3% of the viewing audience being female 😎
Great work, these look fantastic! I would personally recommend wearing gloves when using the airbrush/spray-paints though, just to protect your skin.
Yes I did go through a time of wearing gloves, but kept leaving marks on the painted surfaces, so just rather wash down after spraying
@@GWilliamsonModels oh, that’s true. Didn’t think of that as an issue.
@@GWilliamsonModels Just stick the model on a stick. I used double sided (plastic, not foam) tape to keep the model mounted. For a more pro solution, I printed T shaped pieces, where the bottom part is open. This slides over popsicle sticks. The tape then goes on the top and gives a larger area to fit the model on.
@@macnavi interesting, I’ll have a play with that soon
it's the 009 AGM this weekend? That's thrown a spanner in the works I thought it was in October
I believe it’s this weekend, unfortunately I can’t go, but planning to be there in April at their usual one
Well George. Beautiful work as always - but ‘good lad’ at the end. Really!! By the way. Where did you get your turntable at the end?
I use good lad as a standard term, regardless who I’m speaking to..I should probably stop 😂 then again..’good girl’ sounds pretty dodgy! I can’t remember now, but it would have been somewhere like eBay. It’s only small, has a mirrored top, and can be battery or mains powered
@@GWilliamsonModels I’ll have a look. I wondered if it was one for jewellers! It was a tiny dig of course but you are right. Some other options are actually worse🤔🤣
@@CarolFlavinlocoladies it might well be, it’s only small so ideal for 009, but could see it working for a watch/bracelet etc
Really good George. Thanks. Do the coaches need additional weight...? Do they run ok in a test track? Just wondered.
Yes they’re fine, especially when compared to the 009 plastic wagons from Dundas/stenning. I originally had planned to add weight from below using ‘liquid gravity’, but decided it’s not needed
Capital work- and where would we be if your assistant weren't there to spice the video up?
Oh yeah I’m sure it adds interest for you guys..not so much when I realise the damage she’s done 😂
Couplings?
Not yet, I’m waiting to get through the ‘RTR’ stuff like the GVT coaches, and then I’ll adjust the kit built to suit
Look forward to seeing how you tackle this, it's one of my least favourite tasks.@@GWilliamsonModels
@@neilr009 agreed, I think the difficult thing is how ugly they are. It’s either prototypical, or practical, and not much in between
I wouldn't say horribly wrong, but more so delightfully wrong
Edit: Oh wait you meant the incident at 5:41. I thought you meant the blue livery on the coach when I first wrote that comment
The TR did recently repaint an open coach to that livery so technically its authentic
Yes, it was how my toddler ‘painted’ it when I was out the room, I lost about 6 hours work through that stunt
That’s exactly why I’ve done it, the layout is present day, so the SR livery is used on this coach
this title is clickbate you said there were coaches but these are just cattle trucks.
Oof, that language won’t stand around these parts
@@GWilliamsonModels sorry about that sir handel hacked into my account.
@@karenfan010 that’s the type of thing you’d expect from him
lmfao
Whatever next?!
