Worth the wait! What a lovely interpretation of SR No. 1... and now I'm even more tempted to get on with my own attempt. I think my favorite part is how you removed the splashers from the footplate. I tried to do the same but my clumsiness caused the entire runningboard to come in two... lessons learned! Excited to see the completed diorama plus potential future SR flights of fancy. It's always great to see a down-to-earth, grounded Sodor brought to life and I'm sure the Rev. Awdry would be proud. Keep up the fantastic work!
That’s brilliant to hear, and best of luck with your model! Okay, Across the pond here, and in Tennessee, whats more. Can you give the name of the stripper you used on the plastic parts, as I didn't catch the name? Thanks, and I am throroughtly enjoying your work.
Hi there! Yes, it’s called ‘dettol’, it’s actually antiseptic liquid, so you may need to check if you get it over there, I’ve looked it up and apparently you ive something called ‘Lysol’? Might be worth experimenting with that
I’ll be doing that soon, but decided that this Skarloey model isn’t suitable for talyllyn, but luckily a more accurate model is in production, more on that when I’m allowed to say
@@GWilliamsonModels well, its funny, but I posted that commentary for a restoration video of a youtuber nicknamed , I'm really wondering how on earth did it end here.
Hi there! So I literally start applying water as soon as I’ve finished adding the black, just because you don’t need to scrub at the model to get the black running, but I have gone back to a model days later and altered the finish by applying water again, being acrylic, it’ll always be affected by water, but might need some encouragement!

once i was weathering a coach and i did the covering it with black paint method it was so scary so i promised myself never to do it again even though it came out really good
Thanks Tony, do you mean a locomotive? From priming to weathering, it takes a couple of days, the van or wagon take about a day. It all depends on how long the coats take to dry. The lining on skarloey took a few hours aswell
@@GWilliamsonModels Sorry to be so grumpy. Love your videos. I have binge watched them. Reminds me of my vacation in Aberystwyth, enjoying two narrow gauge rides. Merry Christmas. Greetings from Norway.
As it's a diorama I assume it's not working? I now live in a small flat and I have built the entire Isle of Mann railway fleet, locos, coaches and wagons in 1/285 scale, and some of the stations to the same scale
Nice although I am more of a scenery/diorama guy but I do like steam trains. Maybe because I am old enough to have seen them running. ( BTW, small gripe, music is much louder than your voice).
Yes, unfortunately you’ve found the video when the mic was playing up, sorry about that! Strange thing was that it didn’t show up as an issue in editing. I’m not usually into dioramas myself, but I couldn’t turn this one down
Is 00 scale, so 1/76, but the track gauge is 009, or ‘n gauge’, as in 9mm. As it’s modelling a narrow gauge not standard gauge, it requires smaller track gauge
Yes, but unfortunately etched plates take months to have made, so they would have never been done in time for the video, I’ll add them on at some point
The (unnecessary) music is much too loud. Why you just don’t get rid of it, it is not a benefit? It is the content that makes a video professional. Not being able to add background music. I stopped the video after a minute because of this. Hopefully you will do a new upload without the background music.
Thank you for commenting, unfortunately I have had teething issues with the new microphone, the music is not loud, the voice audio is too quiet. I’m sorry to hear that you chose to not continue the video, perhaps just watch it with subtitles (with are available) and the sound off, if you deem the content good enough.
@@GWilliamsonModels Can I ask why you deem the background noise essential? Btw, you should be able to increase the recorded audio in your video editing software (gain).
