Here's the first of a series of movies we have just posted on Kickstarter. Some new images and a little more of the game. Help fund Elite: Dangerous , by pledging at www.kickstarter.com/projects/1...
It's really interesting to watch this video back. Seeing some of the visuals that are on the monitors in the background, really demonstrate how far the game has come!
@@Tube2097 Just being sarcastic, I know they didn't even get close to what they said, I've put more than 2000 hours in this game, I saw the game evolved since mid 2015. What was keeping me going in back when I was playing was just my imagination because of the lack of content and many things, almost everything was in my head, the game is pretty much run to A then to B and continue this forever ever after. The combat is not interesting, just shoot and then shoot another etc... The Exploration was what made me love this game, but apart for having a whole galaxy which is impressive in itself... but gameplay wise or content wise there is nothing to do, except finding a great spot which is now almost dead if not entirely thanks to Odyssey... Trading, well like I said earlier A to B. The Story was intriguing, but they didn't give us choice when it comes to important event, the most obvious was when their was a community goal with a reward of double engineered stuff, if you took side with the Empire you have a double Engineered FSD, if took side for the Neo-Marlinist you have a double engineered Enzyme missile rack, they new almost everyone would take side with the Empire for the FSD, because who CARES about the already useless Enzyme missile rack, their was no "choice" to begin with, they want the story to go their way only. There is so many thing that is wrong with this game right now... Anyway it's just a shame, the game would have been great if not for their greediness and stupidity, It hurts to see one of your favorite game die like this.
as hardcore fan of elite series i've been waiting for this game for decades and i'm happy to see my waiting will be over soon. being familiar with david's work and his attention to details it's safe to say this will be the best game ever.
Used to play Elite as a kid on ZX Spectrum... it was so awesome, so revolutionary game, nothing could be compared to it in those days... here I wish best luck to David and his crew and hope to play this new-age Elite as soon as possible. On as side note: Star Citizen is also very promising --I am really glad to see that this long forgotten genre of space sims is coming back in full glory! cheers!
@@Null24 yeah, I was so sure that this will be an option before they directly claimed otherwise. Anyway, I'm a Braben's simp so I'll say that we 100% will be able to walk around our ships at some point during the Odyssey season
12/11/2020 1:43am and I’m hooked on this game, getting the Thrustmaster controller, and the X rocker pro series 2.1 rumbling chair just for this game. The game it’s frightening when you think of how lost and all the mysteries and creatures out there. One thing I wonder is if there are any black holes out there, and if so, does it destroy you or is there something on the other side. I hope to find one.
This video makes me feel so bad about all the hate you see on the forums. I think they missed the mark in a few places, but no doubt, the game is still fantastic.
I still remember in Frontier the wormhole effect (as the fans named it) that when you went over 641(?) light years distance (and multiples of this) the fuel and time needed reset to zero so we had made lists of triangulation of how to get from one star system to others by way of 2 wormhole jumps very fast. A nice story of a bug turned feature...
This game is responsible for me buying my first computer. This game is the reason I began to learn about hexadecimal (so I could hack it LOL) and eventually how to program. This game is the reason I went to college to study computer programming. If it wasn't for David Braben and Ian Bell I may not have the career that I have. Thank you guys SO MUCH... I will be contributing soon :D
After playing it for weeks or month and sharing hints & tricks with friends around the game, Targoid trapping and all those easter eggs, i've once done it to Elite. In my opinion this is one of the best games ever created, while using sophisticated techniques, to get around the limited hardware capabilities. If you're able to bring back that spirit, it will be awesome again, and will take place right next to the originial old package on data-tape :) btw: I've played that scientifically related Version, too, But somehow it lacked that Spirit, which the original Elite brought with it.
IT MUST FOR FREE NO MORE MONEY!!!! Paid to get the ALIEN RACES THAT WERE IN ELITE!!!!!! Must be part of the universe and maybe even open some portals n black holes to travel to another universe or dimension etc. etc. please David u know what I speak of u made it! Now update it incorporates in via a FREE UPDATE TK HORIZONS!!!!!!!
Kronickillness Nikolaos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 100% sure they're working on it for a long time. And they're adding the absolute majority of content to the base game with each update, even though they need the money for future development.
While i'm mentally excited. If i could make one suggestion PLEASE make an accompanying documentary of the making of for backers similar to what Double Fine has done. From a fans point of view its really been a great bit of watching abd hearing all the stories and history of Tim and his teams past work, stories etc I'm sure your stories would be equally as fascinating to us fans and need to be stored for prosperity's sake imho.
Thanks, Sometime it takes google a few days to index new Kickstarter Campaigns, so I wasn't sure. TH-cam allows you to put the link in the description box. I believe you have to use the htt p:// for it to be an active link. I know I put it on my TH-cam video I made for my Kickstarter campaign a few months ago.
Both are completely different games Peudoan, Star Citizen is combat based while Elite is trading based where you can do what you want. Both will be good games.
my mate at school had Elite on his BBC Micro and I had it on my ZX Spectrum (48k and later another version on the 128k), I'm 100 per cent sure he had superior filled graphics whereas I had vector or skeletal graphics..yet this vid 0:48 shows vector/skeletal graphics for the BBC Micro? I don't get it... I also had Frontier which I got on the Commodore Amiga, but by then I discovered girls so didn't play much unfortunately even though I was blown away by it...
from what is being said in the video I just cannot stop thinking 'well, Eve online does that pretty well now'. so I'd hope Elite will have some unique selling points. and yes, I'm a backer and I have huge hopes for this project. just a little gloomy.
sorry it's hard sometimes to make sarcasm easy to detect online ;) 'Eve is dying' is an overused meme used by its detractors for years now. I have 4 accounts myself (paid for via ingame currency)
It's quite hard to post links inside utube, but it's no prob to google "kickstarter Elite Dangerous". btw: This post is not intended to be harsh in any way
This announcement is timely, considering eve online is clearly dying, on its last legs and with rapidly declining player base (already tiny when comapred with most mmos).
this guy is a genius, I was 12 when I first played the game the year it came out, he was not much older (20) when he invented it, actually he must've started when he was even younger..around 18. Imagine his IQ, it must be measured in the hundreds..!!! I m ust admit I always thought he fitted Elite since he looks a bit alien and it's how I would imagine aliens to be: highly intelligent on a different level to humans. He was a BIG influence on me and a lot of my school friends growing up. Our staple was playing Elite and watching Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, blissful time. I'm sure David was watching HHGTTG as well during that time. Wish I could go back to those times...
could you back up your statement somehow? I was under the impression Eve is doing quite well and it's player base is doing anything but shrinking. let's face it, it was always a niche game with 50k players online at the time. anyway, what do you mean by 'eve is clearly dying'? maybe it is, just explain please.
My story is not that unlike yours and I was really looking forward to this game...until I saw the following posted on the kickstarter page today: "The people on the DDF together with people from Frontier will have near god-like powers post-release." IMO, the ONLY ones who should have near god-like powers in this game is David and Frontiers. Random people should not have this much influence in the development of the game. For this reason alone, I've now cancelled my pledge.
Game seems to be a good idea BUT compared to star citizen , ED seems way to much to back/pre order to get beta access . Reduce it down to US$40-US$50 it might be worth getting
So you haven't read the actual details on how that works, it seems. You somehow believe that a bunch of random people are given free reigns to do whatever the hell they want with the game, and random people will be able to explode solar systems at random. frontier has all those magic buttons. in ongoing design discussions post release, they can then, in collaboration, make things happen in the game to keep it interesting. Please reconsider, cuz your reason was flawed.
"The people on the DDF together with people from Frontier will have near god-like powers post-release." This was posted TODAY. God-like powers? I thought the whole point of getting rid of publishers was to keep FULL control on all aspects of the game. Giving this kind of power to random people just because they happened to pay more is NOT what I signed up for. IMO, you completely dropped the ball when giving DDF this much leverage. Sorry, but I'm out, pledge now cancelled for the above reason.

This game is just sooo awesome. I mean: a sandbox where you fly around in a super cool space ship. How can anyone give it another rating that 11/10?
20+ years ago I envisaged being able to walk around your ship in 1st person. Please say that 20 years on the makers thought of that.
It took a bit longer than 20 years, but now...

The potential of this vision is massive. Games like this deserved to be backed and made into a reality.
