It has the range of a cutter with the cargo of a titan/300i. I think it is a beauty. Stats mean nothing cause it all can change 10 times before 1.0

@@number00000closest I’ve come to answering that question myself is that the Titan is most relatable to a fighter and fighters typically are intended to either be used for short range patrol or carrier based missions.

Love the interior and its use of space (best so far), but that's it.
The advantage of the Intrepid is that you can wake up and have a shower and coffee; but ... With current gameplay I do not see any functionality for this ship, practically its on par with the Rambler Cutter (~US$15 less) with a few differences. Currently in game: 1) It is not good for ship-to-ship combat because it has low DPS for its price range, shields are minimal, and its maneuverability is just ok. 2) For bunker runs you cannot take on turrets easily and you can't drive in from a distance because you can't carry a vehicle. 3) For trading you are limited to a max size of four 2x1 containers (your missions are going to be limited). 4) Now you may load up on cargo containers and do mining by hand, but you would want a better radar for this.
On the bright side, the current starter package does have the enviable "lifetime insurance" and "$20,000 starter credits", but your upgrade path from their takes you out of the starter ships. So if you have a standalone starter ship you like and want a lifetime-insurance starter package to upgrade to mid-tier or higher ship, its looking good.
In summary, I'd rank the Intrepid along side the Zeus Mk II ES, while the Zeus is more functional, its also ~x3 more expensive than the Intrepid.

It's got half the shields, half the firepower, and a much less useful cargo bay than the Titan, for more money. You can't carry 4SCU containers - the largest you can carry are 2SCU containers. It's got a nice interior, but any functionality it gives is years away - by which time you'll almost certainly have moved on. Unless you just adore the looks? There's currently no reason to recommend the Intrepid. It's just a bad deal.

    • @vonrosphe3098
      @vonrosphe3098 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I can't carry 4 SCU Containers, yes. But neither the Titan can. And if you use the engineering room you can get more than 8 SCU in the ship.
Firepower and shields are worse. But it's very agile. So it's not as bad as fighting as it seems.
And it offers a nicer interiour. And longer range.
So both ships are in a nice spot. Just use which one fits better into your playstile.

@@vonrosphe3098 There is nothing that the Intrepid does that isn't outclassed by another ship that is at the same price point or less. And as far as all-rounders go, the Avenger is just better with a wider range of options. the paper concept (design brief) is actually phenomenal. Crusader has been needing a proper starter for years. But the actual implementation is weak on all points.
There is no need for a dedicated engineering terminal for a 1-crew ship. Period. That entire inclusion could have been taken out and replaced with more expansive cargo.
I know they want to make engineering a thing but it's currently not a thing and won't be for a while yet, so this is wasted space in practice, until then (post 4.0; so some time mid next year at the absolute earliest and that's hyper unrealistic given that they abandoned testing it even in AC).
The entire thing screams "our new employees need something to do; time for an onboarding task and maybe we'll try selling it to pad 'ships to flyable' numbers so that investors *THINK* they're making progress and don't pull their money out before post-S42/2027." Aka marketing strikes again. (They really do need to nuke that entire department).
Onboardong tasks should not even be started until the team working on one is fully "on the kool-aid" with respect to the design brief/language of the respective MFG.
The Storm had the same problem... An onboardong task that seemed to ignore the MFG's established design language and "Lore-based sensibility" of the loadout specs (weak-ahh armament for both Intrepid and Storm). This is evident in that both were buffed, and the Intrepid is still underpowered for anything even remotely challenging, combat wise.
if we already had crafting implemented, for as deep as it looks like it can go (quite ridocilously in-depth; which is a good thing IMO; it makes dedicated crafters actually in-demand and a major component of the overall ecosystem)... if we had crafting we could "customize around" the apalling base stats. Faster? Tankier? Stealthier? But we don't have crafting. We dont actually knos if "we can fix her." So until then, there is no actual reason to buy it RMT.
The last point is that the Intrepid is so obviously designed around a bespoke gun, but doesn't have one. Which means they shipped an incomplete ship (again) or the people who designed it have some fundamentals of design to relearn. Misleading design is generally not the marker of competency with respect to functional design, and CIG (and Crusader as a brand) aren't the sort to deliberately use misleading design like some sort of avant-garde postmodern art exhibit.
And no, they are not an asymmetrical ship MFG, the only "asymmetry" they have is based on necessity of non-negotiables in the design brief (ie: big gun, but it flies - Ares; strong radar, but it flies - MSR). The Crusader ships that don't have a "gimmick" are completely symmetrical. And even the Ares' and MSR are 90% symmetrical and only have _necessary_ hull cutouts so that there's no clipping into itself on the actual model.

@@theMedicatedCitizen You shoved them into? Ok, last time i tried i couldn't fit them through the rear ramp.
I will try it again in the current patch.
With the Intrepid you can fit 8 or more Cargo into the rear and stow a Bike in the corridor through the side door.
Not so useful in most cases but you have more space in the intrepid in comparison to the Titan. But Titan can also carry some other vehicles. Intrepid can only carry the Pulse.
And you have no weapon rack in the titan.

@@vonrosphe3098 The Titan cargo bay is 2x4 to give 8 SCU of cargo area. 4 SCU containers are 2x2 so yes you can put two 4 SCU containers in the Titan, and they snap to the cargo grid. Not getting in on all the other things you guys were debating, just pointing out the titan cargo area.

I really wish they made the landing gear a hair taller and instead of 2, just a single, larger drop down cargo bay. That would have allowed much easier fit for loading and unloading as well as made it so a pulse would fit comfortably. It would not be remotely op, just a hair more functionality that takes advantage of the asymmetry.

Same. What u would’ve like to see is the engines lifted to make room for the single larger drop-down cargo bay with reactor beam, those fins replaced by a turret, a second bunk bed added, and the cockpit moved more towards the center and widened to provide 2 seats like the C1 Spirit.
The co-pilot would control the turret and tractor beam.

I like the Intrepid, i played with it a good bit in PTU, and i see it more as a 300i competitor than an alternative to the Titan. Something for someone who wants a capable runabout that can engage in those starter game loops, but (in universe) doesn't want to go the military surplus route with the Titan, wants a little more style and polish than the Cutter, but doesn't want to pay that Origin luxury tax for a 300i. I also think the design is ripe for combat and pathfinder variants with a minimum of internal modifications. But that's just this Citizen's opinion. I know a lot of people don't like the looks, but let's be honest, if Star Wars and Firefly had never happened, and CIG introduced the YT-1300 or the Firefly, people would scream about those too, they are not, objectively speaking, attractive ships, but we came love them just the same.

It's actually a nice ship to fly around in as solo player. It's quick and nimble the cargo containers drop down under the ship for easy access.
It's better than the aurora starters and as in game purchase it would be fine.
The engine sounds are too much but that can be fixed.

I still think the drake cutter is miles ahead. It is smaller, thus easier to fit into larger ships. It can fit some 4-wheeled ground vehicles. It can hold about the same amount of SCU. It has a bathroom, a shower, a bed, gun rack, food maker and the Cutter expedition has a suite locker. The cutter is more maneuverable. The cutter is a winner hands down.
Edit: I forgot to mention that if your ship catches fire on the inside, it will be quicker to find and put out the fire if you are flying solo, as intended. With the intrepid, you have to navigate more doors/corridors to find the fire.

This is a great ship to live in, but the Titan will earn you the money you need to get your next ship. The firepower on the Intrepid is horrible. If they upgrade the gun to size 5 then it will look better and maybe actually be worth the price. Also, it will be more in line with the Ares which is what I think they were goin g for as a concept.

One question I've not seen asked anywhere about the Intrepid is - do those rails on the roof between the fins support one of the rail travelling turrets seen on some other ships? If so, how far into development is the turret as an add on for this ship?

    • @randomuserame
      @randomuserame 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

This ship does not have a turret. The rail on the Spirit C1 (cargo spirit) does have a rail for a tractor, not a turret. There are no known plans to make turrets and tractors interchangeable and it's unlikely they will add that functionality. That would negate "role specific" ships like Mole, Prospector, etc if you can swap out say, Hammerhead turrets with mining lasers and just out-mine anything that has less "hardpoints" even ships that are purpose-built to mine.
The exposed piping stuff on the intrepid is just visual flair. No actual purpose.

What we got was a bougie cutter.
I guess I just don't know what you do with it. Variants are really interesting for this ship though if they ever come. But this is a weird duck.
Can't dogfight, can't haul really, can't mine or move a ROC, it is just a vehicle to fly you to different FPS missions or just wander around in.

Definitely a love/hate thing with it. Will I keep the Intrepid around forever like I have the Titan? Not sure, it does look like a funky lovechild of an Ares and a Sidewinder from ED. I love my Titan, at this point I only keep it around though waiting for them to update it. But I kinda also love the Intrepid.
I think at the moment the Intrepid has that new features and feel thing going for it. Flew it around a bit, did some bounties even though I normally avoid combat, did some hauling and scavenging supplies. And it does just feel good living out of for a small ship. Sounds nice too. Can't say I like the angry forever single aunt computer voice in Crusader ships though....
If the Titan ever gets an update then I'll probably go back to that as my fave small ship. I have not had much interest in anything bigger than 1-2 person ships so the "which earns better" argument falls flat with me since I can live off very little in game so I don't grind very hard at all. A charged battery in the Arclight, a couple Cruz LUXs in the fridge and a tank of fuel is all that is needed.
My playstyle evolved into space hippy van life over the years so the Intrepid just feels like a Sprinter van to my Cutter Rambler Vanagon. Its just shinier and, more.
Which reminds me. Was gonna melt the Starfarer MAX this morning, flew it a few times and will probably never touch it again, really cool ship but way too big. Need a few more store creds for a Vanguard Harbinger for if they ever get Phase 3 working right. Need to complete one more and I think I want the Harbinger to do it just because.

The amenities are pointless and probably will be for a very long time to come. There is no game play for the shower, the toilet, suit locker, kitchen, food dispenser, or the mirror and by the time there is there will no doubt be newer gold standard starters and small ships when that game play is a reality. "Amenities" however, are a cunning marketing tactic. In the meantime, for the same money, you could have better spec'd ship that has a smaller emissions profile and dimensions that is harder target for the same money, like the Titan. The Titan has the same cargo capacity and puts out 2360 dps, with guns and 9515 dmg with missiles vs the Intrepid's anemic 818 dps and 2280 dmg. I know which ship I'd feel safer carrying my 8 SCU in. At least with the Titan you wouldn't have to run away to survive. You are paying an "aesthetics tax" for the Intrepid, much like the "alien tax" for alien ships.

The interior design just doesn’t fully deliver. The Nomad, while smaller, manages a 24-unit cargo capacity. If they redesigned this ship with a single, wide cargo lift at the back and increased the capacity to 24+ units, while streamlining the interior to mirror the Nomad's open layout, it would be transformative. Right now, the excess walls and partitions eat into the available space, making the interior feel surprisingly cramped for such a large ship-almost like it was rushed. An open layout and greater cargo capacity would make it a standout. Hopefully, a rework is in the plans!

Yeah nope, I agree with everything but the price that should sit around aurora-mustang-100i, not avenger and likes.
Intrepid is a pre-failed concept of wanting something cool but too many inputs that were essentially killed and never realizing the output would be so average that it makes no sense to pledge for it.
Personally I don't mind "starter" ships, I have a few myself but intrepid is a foly purely based on states when you know a s5 is frankly powerful but 2 shields in theory makes the ship too sturdy but reality is completely otherwise let alone counter balance every single shot hit or miss, no in between like other ships.
Although I have a Ion and God its really hard to kill down gladius and smaller size ship, the intrepid may well feel complete opposite with good ttd or ttk vs aurora, mustang, krugers but then surpassed by 135a and really hard to survive vs avenger to tana then imposdinle gladius and up.
Point is, if no s5, cig should have really considered 2 shields, 2 coolers and even maybe 2 p.plants! . For the CS intrepid offers, I truly don't feel comfortable pledging for it and even less at that price tag. Although switch for ballistic repeater stays intriguing.

Okay, what I see when I look at the Intrepid is a ship that shouldn't have gotten a s4 weapon but kept the s3 or removed the gun entirely.
Simply said, I see a purely civilian ship. A civilian courier. A ship that has its gun not because it is supposed to go into combat, but because it is a style choice. "Something a ship just has to have." And I think as a courier-type ship it is pretty good.
The reason to recommend the Intrepid is the same reason to recommend any other ship: Different players like and prefer different ships. And dismissing this right from the start will do no favor to those who may have liked it.
This... almost hate this ship receives is extremely ... ridiculous. It really, really feels off. Don't buy if you don't like it. And not everything has to be competitive or "meta". Sometimes it is just about having fun and enjoying yourself.
And I know quite a few people who really enjoy the Intrepid. I myself? I don't like Crusader in general. I never liked the MSR, I don't like the Spirit and I don't like the Hercules. I like the Ares Ion though. And I like the "BRRRRRR" the Inferno makes.
Other than that, I fly Drake and RSI. Preferably Drake. My favorite fighter is and has always been, since it released, the Buccaneer. Never switched to an Arrow or Sabre or any of that. Because fun supersedes meta. And beating the crap out of people who think they'll win an egagement because they got the technically better ship but forgot the most important thing is flying, is also kinda fun.

FFS, so it had small guns... So what? Now it has a S4!
What I am seeing is S1-S3 are pointless.
The loadouts are a joke these days. Not everything has to be a tank / full of guns.

Nope sorry Titan is still better choice in every way and it needs some rework but still Titan is go to ship everytime besides I think the intrepid has the same price as Titan nope sorry maybe if it priced around 55€-60 then only I would get it for the LTI no other reason it can't compete to Titan don't make it as it's competitor,it's not not by far

Just get a Titan. Unless you're really that impressed by ship interiors... that you probably won't use much; outside of if you're into RP... by yourself.
