@@Xaveth Well, I'm pretty sure emissions are lower because it has fewer components, so you can drop a cooler and shield genny from Titan/315p to achieve the same levels. Also gotta remember both those ships are due a gold pass, if not a rework, so suit locker, interior, engineering, etc., I don't see being super unique in the future. Plus the QT tank is gonna get nerfed for sure (remember Cutter at launch?) and the 315p will def get a buff as its also meant to have extended range. All that said, I do like the ship. The design at least. I just know I'll be frustrated everytime I fly it thinking what could have been. lol

But neither is 3xx or Titan overall better than the Intrepid. All ships have their place. None is overall better than the others.

Intrepid holds 8SCU of cargo. 315p holds 12SCU Period. And if you think the Intrepid is going to keep the same QT fuel size as the C1 then you don't deserve my time or energy. Happy Thanksgiving!

Awesome video, Dig! I love the Intrepid, fits my activity to a tee, and the upcoming Black Friday paint for it, Nocturne, is fire 🔥. The brochure and early images of the Intrepid show the Size 4, so the Size 3 was a test of player reaction, it seems....
It doesn't have the stats but it has a far better QoL experience than any of the other starter ships. I really enjoyed my time with it. if you're not combat or min-max oriented and just want a good time, this is the ship to beat.
Basically roleplaying Han Solo, crouching, you can deploy (yourself) from and enter the Intrepid from either cargo area - essentially another access/entry point to the ship. Been a Citizen for over 2 years and YES I got an Intrepid 🫡
Been one since 2012, haven't spent money on the game since 2014... I melted an aurora for the intrepid a couple days ago. It's the closest image to my ideal ship for this game thus far.

I agree. The Zeus was well put together and I thought that is the standard, then they came out with the Intrepid and it gets all of that in a much smaller package. It is the standard of what ships should have with a logical placement. And the toilet might just be bidet to save space.
I spent thousands on ships and I would say the Intrepid is a must buy for a new player. I even bought one because it's such a cool ship and it fits in my Polaris :o
I kind of love that ship for how much interior it has. I don't see grabbing one at it's current price or anything, but I feel like I'd use it if I had one. Maybe it's aUEC price will work for a good shuttle.
After having watched *all* the Intrepid reviews out there, I must say that I suspected the ship is a lifestyle and that suspicion is confirmed with the stylin' here. This one was on hit, and left no stone unturned regarding all the nuances of the refined ride.
On live, the Intrepid currently has a quadrant shield which makes each shield face really flimsy. But on PTU, it gets a bubble shield which should help it's survivability quite a bit. I think it's a pretty good little ship, and I might swap my cutter for it as my solo runabout ship.
I started with a cutter. Melted it to an avenger. Then from avenger to a mustang. From mustang to aurora. When the intrepid was introduced, i knew that was going to be my starter. I am not disappointed with it one bit.
The rear portion of the intrepid reminds me of the Cobra from elite dangerous. I immediately fell in love with the intrepid when I saw it and never really understood the hate for it.
There is one factor that might make it more desirable over the other two ships : fuel tanks - both types. Check Spviewer, it has 1.2 scu of quantum and this means Pyro while the other two have 0.5 only. I know, I am a Titan lover and own one + Warlock too but these aren't for Pyro. When fuel will be scarce because CIG wants to, take this factor into consideration. Also, hey Dig you great person you! :) 😁

I'm in the process of laying out the groundwork to start my very own first TH-cam Channel based upon making a career change into IT, not under this name obviously. But I also would like to get into cover something I enjoy with some spare time I have, such as Star Citizen. I've only been playing since 2022, still don't know a lot and still learning. I've only stuck to doing only certain missions but slowly branching out and learning through trial and error or falling through the graphics or just falling from tripping over a pebble on a distant planet from time to time lol. I been a huge space nerd for over 39 years since I was 4. As a veteran SC player and creator do you have any word of wisdom on creating a SC channel from your expertise you could share. Thank you in advance, keep making the great content that you do. It's definitely entertaining.
the polaris looks like a huge home but you got some problems to grapple with its got a signature like a space whale inside a museum. it can be seen like a queen on a cat walk, you may wanna park far away and even if you do park far away your still gonna use up fuel. just runnin your polaris is gonna use fuel like your powerin your mcmansion off a turbo charged diesel generator.
This is a good intro to what the Intrepid can do. I think it got a bit a bad rap. I don't need a starter ship but I wouldn't mind it if I did. I also like the whole engineering gameplay stuff so I might be bias. Excellent vid!
as for polaris... 890 JUMP seems more fittin g for the Intrepid parasite idea.... If you're goign to go Luxury... go Luxury (Polaris you can solo the torps).
This ahould be a buddy ahip. CIG misses a huge opportunity for the tier 2 ship class, they need a buddy ship catagory. They could sell soooo many of these if CIG made the cockpit wider for a copilot, add another bunk/etc and a S2 turret. The wider cockpit would make it look better too. Do all this and it becomes a legendary up to no good speedy smugler and bunker runner. I'm sticking with my Tana.
With big ships unfortunately a crew will keep your Mother ship from getting Got! I love the Intrepid. I use it for so much! My other favorite starter ship is the Suylin!!!
Titan and 300i are the real competition, though Intrepid has its advantages. Kore is not a good hauler, though with a purchase of extra Toshima turret it has good firepower. Nomad is one you didn't mention, and for about $20 USD more you get 24 SCU, a descent interior, and floaty landing pads? Also, 3 S3 means good firepower, but it is more money and aesthetically, it is a like or hate type ship.... Cutters are good, except I wish they could carry more cargo, and had larger weapons. I imagine Avenger and Origin will eventually get upgraded with suit lockers (I see where you could fit one on 300 series, and I wish it did have the stairs like of the intrepid, which seems more fitting on a 300i... Luxurious stairs.
The ship would only matter if the cargo area can't be scanned. Also the landing legs need to be raised up and the cargo lifts raised lower it's difficult to get anything on them
about time i see a decent review of the intrepid too many dps ppl in game not enough explorers i love my intrepid my new fav ship atm i had a terrapin turned that into a paladin cause i love that ship to but yea my 3 ships ill probably stick with are the intrepid my paladin and the murai guardian depending on how they make the interior need a bath and bed for when they add the sickness and grime and such too many say the intrepid is crap but it handles like a dream can hit hard and has your back for when pyro comes out
I understand the hate but I like and have it. Yes I wish the cargo area was better able to accept a pulse but is there really a need. The interior is the best out of all the "starter"
Cool video i like the intrepid's weirdness. The nerfs on the Cutter and Syulen fuel were pretty bad move from CIG, looks like the new trend, nerf to the ground a ships advertised advantage to release a new shiny one..... Redeemer looks to have had the same treatment now that the Paladin have the 4x S5 guns the Redeemer was too small and agile to have, having almost the same size. Cutter had 6SCU of fuel, then 1Scu, now in the 4.0 PTU it have 0.5SCU with the Rambler having 1SCU, intrepid have 1.2...... Rambler was supposed to have 33% more than a regular cutter, now it has double and still 20% short of an Interpid. Syulen was a Long range alien (big) starter.... with 2.9 SCU of quantum fuel, now with PTU data, 0.5SCU. OLD starters need a revamp to keep up, Aurora, Mustang, Pisces, Titan, 100 series, 300 is kinda cool at the current state, just need some fixes, cargo bay is terrible to put things in and out, not the layout itself, the bugs with geometry, maybe another ramp/ladder design too, the cool part of a ladder animation is that nobody can follow you inside. On a last note, if someone can afford, the best starter in the game for me would be a Vulture, you can straight up make money with a profession, you can do basic level bounties and strip all the ship you beated home for profit, 12 SCU, can carry some sort of ground vehicles, have a bed, kitchen, gunrack, storage, can craft some stuff and probably will be able to make much more in the future, sadly is "IF YOU CAN" afford, 175$ isnt cheap for an imaginary digital ship.
This can change every patch. Titan or 300 just get the speed up for no particular reason. Only interceptor is the Warlock. So all others can be nerved every patch. But for now they have a nice speed.
It's an upgrade from the more basic starters but you're not going to buy it with real money, unless you REALLY like it or REALLY don't care about money I suppose. You got the Mustang, Aurora or 1xx as your first? You'll eventually want the capabilities of the Intrepid as you move on from the extremely early into the "I have the money, but I still want a small multifunctional thing". You can melt your original choice for the Intrepid eventually after you ensured yourself that you want to invest more in the game and want that leg up after wipes and when insurance matters so you can be a little more ballsy with it.
We still don't know how OP engineering may or may not be. Intrepid might be the only starter ship capable of being tuned to the absolute max. Time will tell
The Nomad cost 15 $ more. So not really the same price. I normally get the Nomad ingame. It's a useful ship. But i never liked it enough to buy it with $/€.
The issue with the nomad is the open cargo. Anyone can take from it. If it had a lip to cover the cargo, it would be more appealing. I haven't tried to use it to carry small vehicles. Only for quick bunker runs.
I don't know why many people care so much about its gun. It's a fricking starter ship, not a dedicated fighter. Imho, for a starter ship looks and sensibility of design are much more important. Regarding looks - it's hands down the ugliest ship in the game. Regarding sensibility of design - it's wasted design opportunities as well. For example, instead of adding a totally unnecessary engineering room they could add a small cargo bay with a ramp (that makes loading cargo easy and allows some vehicles like Pulse). There are also questionable interior choices, but it's more an RP question (like why would you want your space suit locker and gun rack next to your bed and toilet, instead of next to the entrance).
CIG should have given the ship a S5 gun. To make up for its Ugly look. Seeing that it's meant to be an ION 😂. But at least the ION looks sexy. IONs Ugly sister.
Hate to rain on your parade but something I wish all SC Youbers would stop doing: False advertising. Armor racks, coffee makers, food machines, washing bowl, shower, toilet, engineering/ship repair ... etc. etc. etc.: all not in the game yet and only god knows when such features will be added, if even. Ship decorating ... sure, you could do that for the few hours or days at best that you can keep the ship without having to claim it again due to the many bugs that destroy your ship/make it unusable/lose it somewhere. The game has a looooooooooooooooooooooong way to go before it can be deemed OK for a 1.0 beta!
I hated on the Intrepid because it wasn't even as capable as a Cutter and it was ugly and a bad example of asymmetry that did NOT fit in line with the Crusader design language. Increasing the weapon to S4 helps it look more balanced, and the three darker paints make it look better. But it's a massive failure of Crusader design that the worst-looking paints are the two default Crusader paints (classic red highlight vs modern blue). An actual new player would be better off saving $5 and buying an Avenger, or saving $20 and buying a Cutter. I bought it because I'm weak, and I love Crusader. They're my second favourite line of ships and I have at least one of each. I've been a backer since the Kickstarter and fly HOSAS. The Intrepid is stupidly fragile, especially it's wing thrusters, which get disabled if someone sneezes while flying by. I can get back to a station and repair like that. A rookie player flying by keyboard and mouse? No chance. It's a bad experience for a new player. A true starter ship needs to be far more forgiving. The Oblivion paint with an Attrition 4 is growing on me though. Need to take it into AC and try it there.
Ugliest ship Star Citizen has produced to date. What kills me with these ships is they are chock full of internal features like armor suit lockers, gun storage with no ammo storage, lockers that don’t work, escape pods, galleys, bathrooms, pools tables, desks, etc. However nothing works………

Had no big problems loading the ship in the current state. There are easier to load ships, sure. But it's not so bad with the Intrepid.

about time i see a decent review of the intrepid too many dps ppl in game not enough explorers i love my intrepid my new fav ship atm i had a terrapin turned that into a paladin cause i love that ship to but yea my 3 ships ill probably stick with are the intrepid my paladin and the murai guardian depending on how they make the interior need a bath and bed for when they add the sickness and grime and such too many say the intrepid is crap but it handles like a dream can hit hard and has your back for when pyro comes out

I understand the hate but I like and have it. Yes I wish the cargo area was better able to accept a pulse but is there really a need. The interior is the best out of all the "starter"

The nerfs on the Cutter and Syulen fuel were pretty bad move from CIG, looks like the new trend, nerf to the ground a ships advertised advantage to release a new shiny one.....
Redeemer looks to have had the same treatment now that the Paladin have the 4x S5 guns the Redeemer was too small and agile to have, having almost the same size.
Cutter had 6SCU of fuel, then 1Scu, now in the 4.0 PTU it have 0.5SCU with the Rambler having 1SCU, intrepid have 1.2......
Rambler was supposed to have 33% more than a regular cutter, now it has double and still 20% short of an Interpid.
Syulen was a Long range alien (big) starter.... with 2.9 SCU of quantum fuel, now with PTU data, 0.5SCU.
OLD starters need a revamp to keep up, Aurora, Mustang, Pisces, Titan, 100 series, 300 is kinda cool at the current state, just need some fixes, cargo bay is terrible to put things in and out, not the layout itself, the bugs with geometry, maybe another ramp/ladder design too, the cool part of a ladder animation is that nobody can follow you inside.
On a last note, if someone can afford, the best starter in the game for me would be a Vulture, you can straight up make money with a profession, you can do basic level bounties and strip all the ship you beated home for profit, 12 SCU, can carry some sort of ground vehicles, have a bed, kitchen, gunrack, storage, can craft some stuff and probably will be able to make much more in the future, sadly is "IF YOU CAN" afford, 175$ isnt cheap for an imaginary digital ship.

Perhaps the Intrepid could get interceptor tuning like the Titan or 300i. Then at least it can run from fights if need be.
This can change every patch. Titan or 300 just get the speed up for no particular reason. Only interceptor is the Warlock. So all others can be nerved every patch.
But for now they have a nice speed.

Personally I have no use for the Intrepid - my starter was the Titan. If I were to start today the Intrepid would be a serious contender.
Can the avenger titan make the jump from stanton to pyro? If not I may opt for the Intrepid althought for a starter Titan is much more powerful.
It can. Best to refuel at the station first, but it's capable.
It's an upgrade from the more basic starters but you're not going to buy it with real money, unless you REALLY like it or REALLY don't care about money I suppose.
You got the Mustang, Aurora or 1xx as your first? You'll eventually want the capabilities of the Intrepid as you move on from the extremely early into the "I have the money, but I still want a small multifunctional thing". You can melt your original choice for the Intrepid eventually after you ensured yourself that you want to invest more in the game and want that leg up after wipes and when insurance matters so you can be a little more ballsy with it.

We still don't know how OP engineering may or may not be. Intrepid might be the only starter ship capable of being tuned to the absolute max. Time will tell

Intrepid should not have only 1 S1 shield, and if it had 16scu cargo grid, it would be viable. Nomad is way better for the price.
The Nomad cost 15 $ more. So not really the same price. I normally get the Nomad ingame. It's a useful ship. But i never liked it enough to buy it with $/€.
The issue with the nomad is the open cargo. Anyone can take from it. If it had a lip to cover the cargo, it would be more appealing. I haven't tried to use it to carry small vehicles. Only for quick bunker runs.

I don't know why many people care so much about its gun. It's a fricking starter ship, not a dedicated fighter.
Imho, for a starter ship looks and sensibility of design are much more important.
Regarding looks - it's hands down the ugliest ship in the game. Regarding sensibility of design - it's wasted design opportunities as well. For example, instead of adding a totally unnecessary engineering room they could add a small cargo bay with a ramp (that makes loading cargo easy and allows some vehicles like Pulse). There are also questionable interior choices, but it's more an RP question (like why would you want your space suit locker and gun rack next to your bed and toilet, instead of next to the entrance).
CIG should have given the ship a S5 gun. To make up for its Ugly look. Seeing that it's meant to be an ION 😂. But at least the ION looks sexy. IONs Ugly sister.

Hate to rain on your parade but something I wish all SC Youbers would stop doing: False advertising. Armor racks, coffee makers, food machines, washing bowl, shower, toilet, engineering/ship repair ... etc. etc. etc.: all not in the game yet and only god knows when such features will be added, if even. Ship decorating ... sure, you could do that for the few hours or days at best that you can keep the ship without having to claim it again due to the many bugs that destroy your ship/make it unusable/lose it somewhere. The game has a looooooooooooooooooooooong way to go before it can be deemed OK for a 1.0 beta!
I hated on the Intrepid because it wasn't even as capable as a Cutter and it was ugly and a bad example of asymmetry that did NOT fit in line with the Crusader design language. Increasing the weapon to S4 helps it look more balanced, and the three darker paints make it look better. But it's a massive failure of Crusader design that the worst-looking paints are the two default Crusader paints (classic red highlight vs modern blue).
An actual new player would be better off saving $5 and buying an Avenger, or saving $20 and buying a Cutter. I bought it because I'm weak, and I love Crusader. They're my second favourite line of ships and I have at least one of each.
I've been a backer since the Kickstarter and fly HOSAS. The Intrepid is stupidly fragile, especially it's wing thrusters, which get disabled if someone sneezes while flying by. I can get back to a station and repair like that. A rookie player flying by keyboard and mouse? No chance. It's a bad experience for a new player. A true starter ship needs to be far more forgiving.
The Oblivion paint with an Attrition 4 is growing on me though. Need to take it into AC and try it there.

What kills me with these ships is they are chock full of internal features like armor suit lockers, gun storage with no ammo storage, lockers that don’t work, escape pods, galleys, bathrooms, pools tables, desks, etc. However nothing works………
