Thank you, Dr. Berg! I first heard of L-Carnitine as a weight loss aid, which I didn't need. At age 49 I had a heart attack. I didn't know it (no pain) and waited 5 days before seeking answers for my lack of breath with even minor exertion. I was told that the back side of my heart was dead due to the delay. I'm very grateful that you explained in such great detail exactly why I need this! I'm now 65 years old and will definitely be taking this supplement! You've been such a blessing to me and so many others here!! May you and your loved ones be blessed, as well!!

Don't take carnitine if you you've had a heart attack, if will only lead to another. You need CoQ10, this is a direct nutrient/supplement thats needed for heart repair and heart health. Studies have even showed that most people who have heart attacks are low in CoQ10.

L-Carnitine is synthesized from essential amino acids L-Lysine ; L-Methionine. It requires cofactors - active B6, B3, vit C and iron.

If you have individual amino acids long term, you can alter nitrogen balance and buildup more ammonia.
Tip : If you want to tap into nearly all the 20 amino acids in a sustainable way, consider a Quality Essential Amino Acid - EAA complex having 9 essential aminos and pair that with a methylated B complex, coupled with some zinc and magnesium.
I personally have my EAA complex with active B6 - P5P.
If you don't have significant many genetic mutations in amino acid and protein metabolism pathways, this would give you access to other 11 conditionally essential and non-essential amino acids plus availability of all 20 amino acids for endogenously synthesing a range of required proteins your body needs.

      Both benficial.
If you supplement, you take them at separate times (or they will sort of cancel eachother out).
But best to learn as much as possible before taking either one, as sometimes pre-existing health conditions (especially ones you may be unaware you have), can cause you more harm than good.
Also, always stae=rt with the lowest amount first (as in less than what the label suggests), before taking the full amount of these particular supplements.

Supplement no more than 1/3 of your daily recommended intake.
Only take vitamins you are deficient in.
Macro and trace minerals from bio available sources, learn the difference between recommended daily intake- RDI and Safe upper limit or maximum allowable intake.
Anything over RDI should be done with a MD's guidence.
The rest you should get from eating naturally, from good food choice.

L-Carnitine for someone who's not deficient in carnitine production will gain almost no benefits for weight loss or increased energy/focus
Acetyl-L Carnitine may however improve brain focus.
So to those watching this video thinking they should take L-Carnitine Tartrate to lose weight don't. Leave this supplement for those who are deficient and are hypoglycemic

Please be aware that excess L carnitine is converted into TMAO in your system. How much TMAO your body produces depends on the amount you take, duration of your course, and how your body converts this. Be aware that TMAO is a big risk factor for heart disease and can accelerate the process. So though you may get “benefits”, know the risks.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the difference between L-carnitine and Acetyl l carnitine. They are quite similar, thought Acetyl is more used for brain boosting, a nootropic, cognitive function. Whilst straight l carntine, Is more of a weight loss, exercise supplement. I prefer Acetyl, it really has the best of both worlds, still the fat burning, but skewed towards a cognitive boost.
