@almaburns6562 I buy wheat berries and other whole grains from local farmers or sometimes online. Research the source of the grains for use of pesticides and such. Buy a hand grinder. It's easier than you think to do it. 😊

My auntie used to bake her bread in a wood oven. It lasted for up to 2-3 weeks when kept in a bread box wrapped in a cotton tea towel. I can still remember the yeasty aroma wafting out of that wood fired oven. She's been gone for 20 years but her kitchen has retained that yeasty aroma because she cooked, baked, made pasta & sauces, in it for the best part of 50 years! Her children haven't updated at all as a monument to her. The squeeky screen door & wooden floor boards are a comfort to their hearts. Thank God for all mother's loving care 🙏💜
My doctor told me that I had a fatty liver but didn't know what had caused it. She accused me of drinking too much alcohol. I learned from this channel, how to cure my fatty liver by cutting out bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and noodles, plus I followed a Ketogenic lifestyle, incorporated with 18:6 intermittent fasting and in the first 10 months, I lost 103 pounds, reversed prediabetes and got rid of ALL of my joint inflammation. It's not a fad diet folks, it's a re-education and a proper human way of eating.
@michellej7539 18:6 means that I don't eat for 18 hours (including sleep) but I can eat during the 6 hour window. I often do a 20 hour fast and just eat 1 or 2 meals
Eat healthy, exercise, take baby aspirin as well as vitamin tabs, eat fermented cabbage such as Sauerkraut & kimchi, take one spoon of extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar, drink matcha green tea and sleep well ... That's what I've done and just celebrated my 90th birthday lately. 😊
In case people go out searching for a great sourdough bread, make sure that it has actually been fermented by the sourdough, not by industrial yeast. That means it should have sourdough as an ingreadient, but not yeast at all. Otherwise, it means the producer just went for a kind of trendy sourdough flavor, but it did not really go through the whole sourdough fermentation.
Unfortunately as a sugar addict I switched to carnivore and 0 sugar. WOW! All my ailments and diseases are gone my weight dropped from 156 to 129 pounds and I feel better than ever.😊
Processed foods are bad. PERIOD. I eat whole foods. I cook from scratch. I mill organic wheat berries. Make sourdough, kefir, and yogurt. Have a vegetable garden and chickens. 61 and no meds. I also pray, thanking God and asking Him to bless my food.
It blows my mind how many people use gluten and refuse to understand how unhealthy it is. I am 40 and back when I was 16 I use to say to a friend stop eating gluten. He was saying I am a machine and can eat anything. Now after so many years, he was told by the doctor to NOT eat gluten because he is having problems with his intestine. It's like people have to feel the pain in order to understand how bad it is. Dr Berg, you are a hero for me. I have learned so much from you.
Its also addiction, I know its bad for me but in my county choices are so poor to swap it out and especially for breakfast its non existing. Einkorn isnt always available, spelt slightly easier. I buy organic localy grown barley and rye but its different. So I do go for the 'better' bad options sometimes, make sourdough bread myself (but as beginner it often fails or starter dies). I also get sick if I eat complete grainfree so I need to consume it now and then because some products I eat because it takes away this horrible feelings I sometimes go through (and its not mental). I think it applies also a lot more to US than to Europe, our bread is still not the best but compared to American bread less chemical. If I go to US again maybe next year, I do my research before hand of what and where to eat because I do not trust it.

I woke up in severe pains and aches, stiffness, inflammation. I literally want to cry, Dr Berg was right and is telling the truth guys!!! I’m going to get back on track and start my day with a chicken salad!😭 Thank for this reminder!!! I needed it!
I too bought a loaf after my friend tempted me with sandwiches. Next thing you know I let rip Bread led to Ice cream and apple pie. I feel like someone has poured acid in all my joints and I have loose stools. I just cant seem to get away from bread pushers.
Fresh grind flour and make your own homemade pizza with homemade sauce, cheaper, so so much better tasting, and no issues with it either. Also the amount of seed oils in a bought donut..... If you want a donut make your own and fry it in some lard or tallow.
I eat very little Bread, usually get one Sourdough loaf a month from a local organic vegan bakery. For many years I made my own Sourdough starter and made some breads or pancakes with it. Never ho near Supermarket 'Bread' though we ate it as children. I'm 77 now and just don't eat much bread - mostly meat/fish/eggs and veggies/fruits. No Inflammation, no Candida etc.
If you’re 77 that means when you were a kid it was way back then. That means the bread your parents bought at the store was a lot more healthy back then than the garbage from nowadays.
@@BigMike-Soetoro I’m 70 and the number one seller on the nread shelf was Wonder Bread. Trust me, the assumption you made that food was purer then is not correct. By the 1940’s because of the need to have foods that wouldn’t spoil for the military in WWII, all kinds of chemicals started being added to food. Many are not allowed any more but unfortunately many are still being added to our food. I don’t think we will ever get to a point where we don’t have to read labels.
@@BigMike-Soetoro Mate, unfortunately we all eat garbage. The wheat what our grandparents used to eat has gone in 70ties. It was genetically modified so the grain which is used in the past is completely different than the one we use today. I was sick for months, did blood tests everything keeps on getting okay when I visit my GP, but within me I wasnt feeling better. After having an encounter, I stopped bread and other pasta since then, I got my healing. Thank you so much. From Nigeria.
True. However, these are no longer called boulangeries, but dépôts de pain. But there are still a lot of true boulangeries, especially in smaller towns.
Ah the corporations finally are working their way into Europe with their cheaper product that undercuts the small mom and pop business. I really can't stand the younger generation.
My daughter has friends who when they go back to visit Russia, or go to Europe, they can eat all the bread, pasta, etc. and not gain weight. Here in the States they eat the same and gain weight. Another reason for the obesity levels here. One of my favorite alternatives is Ethiopian Teff Injera flatbread. I add Teff flour to Einkorn when baking, along with wild harvested local Dock, and California Buckwheat seeds, and Nettle seeds, depending on what I’m making. But I love to experiment and make what I call rustic baked items.
Show me soft healthy bread in states. I can't find. I have an older bread machine in the 90s. You buy a box and it's all there and machine does the rest. Is this healthy???
I don't eat bread like I used to. But I still do and shouldn't.. I used to be prediabetic and I have lymphedema an incurable disease. And now I haven't checked my suger since 2020. I need to buy a blood glucose machine. What do you recommend I do
Thank you Dr. Berg. After suffering stomach issues I asked my Dr. for an allergy test, went for bloodwork, had to go a 2nd time as I had to ask specifically to be tested for gluten. Found out that I have a gluten allergy, I’ve stopped eating it and feel much better. In Paris back in June I indulged with a couple of croissants from a fresh bakery and I was fine. On the Delta flight home I thought maybe I can have a piece of bread and be ok - I was keeled over in pain for several hours, thankfully was in a lie-flat seat. No-one in my family has these gluten issues, I’m the only one that moved to the US. Being a gluten free vegetarian who fasts makes going out to restaurants these days very challenging! I’ve been advising all my friends to get tested. My Dr. said that if I had kept eating gluten that it would eventually turn into celiac disease.
I am mostly a Ketovore but I have started buying organic forms of grains, milling them and making my own bread. Not only is the taste totally different but it is more filling and I only eat 1 slice per day. It is full of nutrients and it does depend upon which ingredients you use as to the quality and health benefits. I can't believe I was raised on junky store bought bread but even an old dog can learn new ways. I am 70 years-old and started changing things shortly after the pandemic began and I eat a totally different way.
Just from cooking from scratch to me I don't have to worry about hidden ingredients in my meal, keto sweets . Please keep away from fructose, msg, maltodextrin , more Always read the ingredients. Even on your mayo, ketchup, mustard, salad dressing and more.
Yeah id say stick to fructose only if its already in the food like you are eating an apple for example, cause then it has fibers vitamins etc and the fructose is balanced but dont use it as a sweetener on its own... And omg maltodextrineeee I hate them they are in basically all diabetic "sugar free" foods and even more and they make my gut feel so bad nowadays they put it basically in everything like omg even straight sugar is better just to make u understand how bad they are. Also margarine they put it in many vegan things i saw and idk whyy just stick to extra vergin olive oil etc
Just make your own mayo it's literally like 5 ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to make! People don't understand the low quality of eggs used in store brand mayo not to mention unless it says otherwise it's made with vegetable oil which is the worst oil possible!
@@Strive4GreatnessPOP true but at home you dont have the certainty that the eggs you buy are disease free and you dont cook it for mayo and secondly fresh mayo doesnt last as long so you have to keep remaking it. I think the oils and extras in mayo are the badguys mostly but I find a good brand here in italy with the few ingredients and extravirgin olive oil thats good
Pretty much all these "You'll never eat this again.." videos can be summed up by stating "If it comes in a bag, box or bottle..or more than 2 ingredients..don't ingest it".
Exactly you've probably read Paul Braggs the miracle of Fasting in which he says the same thing. He's the reason Jack Lallane became the person who he was. I followed his detox diet and it worked 100 percent many years ago.
I bloat SO badly when I eat bread! Even just one piece. I'm definitely addicted to those reasons you stated... I know it's not good for my body, but I "love" it. This video is definitely a huge help. I told my husband this is the video I needed to get me to stop eating it! Especially after the part you shared about heating/toasting it. I'm a recent cancer survivor and never want to go through that again! I did notice, though, that when I eat other grains/oats, I still bloat. So I don't know if I just have an overall sensitivity to those things or what the issue is... As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks Dr Berg I always learn from you And help who I can from what I'm taught. I started out 8 years ago weighing 767 pounds watching you I'm down to 380 My goal 250 at 6,5" Thanks for my life back Sir!
I started buying wheat berries, milling them myself to make whole wheat flour and making my own bread. It made a huge difference! The bread I make only contains fresh milled flour, olive oil, yeast, water, honey, salt and an egg. I know everything that is in my bread and it is all natural. Like Dr. Berg said, the problem with store breads is they contain too much gluten. Gluten isn't so much of a problem when it's left at the levels that are naturally in wheat to begin with but when you add more gluten, you overload your system. My wife is gluten sensitive, and she can eat my bread with no issues. The other thing is the fiber that is in bread is stripped out. The germ and endosperm are sifted out, and you're mostly left with the starchy white flour. The sifted parts are sold as cattle feed. We need those sifted parts to provide our system with the balanced fiber needed to eat wheat. This is why so many people have issues eating bread in America.
@@missamerica2478 One thing I learned about cooking is that recipes are just guidelines, and you can't follow them exactly the way they are written. When I started cooking bread, this was definitely the case! From what I've experienced with fresh milled whole wheat bread, is that a lot of times I have to add all my ingredients to a bowl, except the yeast and 1 1/2 cups of flour. I give the wet ingredients a quick mix and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. This allows the flour to absorb more of the water. This helps tremendously to keep moisture in the bread. Some other thing I've noted is many times I use a bit more olive oil than what is called for. Again this for more moisture/oiliness in the bread. I also allow more time for the bread to rise after adding the yeast. I cook my bread to 185 degrees. If the bread gets any hotter than this it starts to overcook. As far as storage, I don't keep bread in the refrigerator. It will dry it out with the quickness! I keep my bread in a plastic bag and then in a bread box that sits on the counter at room temp. My bread will usually stay good for about 5 days, but it never lasts that long with my girls eating it all the time. 🙂
@@Theebarb I get mine on Amazon from Great River Organic Milling. I usually buy soft white and hard red and blend them for my bread. A 25 pound bag of each had lasted me 9 months.

I only eat much healthier foods like my veggies & fruits, some chicken & fish, plus cheese, like string cheese❤😊🥰. I love it. Plus I cut out all fast foods, also all the chips I cut out. Thankfully I've hated my bread my whole life so that wasn't one I had to worry about. The only thing I miss sometimes is cornbread which is horrible for me if made with corn from the U.S.
Ezekiel bread(sprouted grain bread) has a glycemic index of 35, whereas regular white bread has a glycemic index of 72-80 or even higher! Because Ezekiel bread is shipped and kept frozen it tends to be dryer and certainly more expensive but worth the price if you’re diabetic or have any insulin resistance. 😊.
Sourdough is a common migraine trigger for those who have migraine disease. I used to joke that I got migraines just from looking at a loaf of sourdough bread!
I just left a comment about Dr Paul Bragg and then read your post. I read his book on the miracle of Fasting in 1989 and followed everything he said and it worked and was rejuvenated and that glow of life your skin radiates after all the toxins and poisons are flushed from your system is like a rebirth. I did the test he prescribed just before the end of the fast and kept a urine sample in a glass jar with a very tight lid and stored in an unlit area for a few weeks. When I brought it out it was as he described it would be and more and he said do not open the lid its one thing to see what death and humanities ills look like but its even worse to know what they smell like. Black coagulate globs and hideous shapes of diseases trapped in a glass jar. It's a must read and cure most diseases and depression.

Gluten in bread is the only protein humans can’t digest. Gluten side effects include gut inflammation and health conditions like celiac disease Einkorn is an ancient grain that has not been altered in a long time. Einkorn bread doesn’t have quite the same texture or mouthfeel as bread that's high in gluten, but it's close, and very few people have gut reactions to it. Modern grains are very high in phytic acid-a compound that binds with minerals such as zinc, iron, magnesium, manganese, calcium, and copper. Phytic acid is not absorbed in the small intestine, so you won’t be able to absorb the minerals it binds with. Some cultures that consume high amounts of bread have zinc and iron deficiencies because of the phytic acid. In the U.S., bread sometimes contains BVO or potassium bromate, ingredients banned in Europe. Wheat in the U.S. is often dried out with glyphosate, the chemical found in Roundup. Toasting bread creates acrylamide, which may lead to cancer. Try this healthy Keto-Friendly Einkorn Bread recipe! Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment. 2. Combine dry ingredients (Einkorn, almond, and coconut flours, flaxseed, baking powder, salt, and xanthan gum). Mix until thoroughly combined. 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients (eggs, melted butter, almond milk, apple cider vinegar, and sweetener). Ensure the wet ingredients are well blended. 4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir gently until the mixture forms a thick batter. Be careful not to overmix. 5. Fold in optional ingredients such as shredded cheese, herbs, or spices. 6. Transfer batter to loaf pan and smooth the top with an offset spatula to ensure the mixture is evenly distributed. 7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil. 8. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. 9. Once the bread has cooled, slice it with a sharp bread knife. Serve it plain, toasted, or with your favorite keto-friendly toppings like avocado, butter, or cheese. Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

My auntie used to bake her bread in a wood oven. It lasted for up to 2-3 weeks when kept in a bread box wrapped in a cotton tea towel. I can still remember the yeasty aroma wafting out of that wood fired oven. So what do you eat instead of bread?
Is brown wholemeal bread healthy?
In case people go out searching for a great sourdough bread, make sure that it has actually been fermented by the sourdough, not by industrial yeast. That means it should have sourdough as an ingreadient, but not yeast at all. Otherwise, it means the producer just went for a kind of trendy sourdough flavor, but it did not really go through the whole sourdough fermentation.

Carbs are a macronutrient, you need it. Just eat complex carbs instead of simple carbs.
Fresh grind flour and make your own homemade pizza with homemade sauce, cheaper, so so much better tasting, and no issues with it either.

Please keep away from fructose, msg, maltodextrin , more
Always read the ingredients.
I mill my own wheat too, best thing I did for my family!
How do you keep your bread from not going stale too fast I make it and it’s like a rock the next day
@@missamerica2478 One thing I learned about cooking is that recipes are just guidelines, and you can't follow them exactly the way they are written.
Where can you get the wheat berries
@@Theebarb I get mine on Amazon from Great River Organic Milling. I usually buy soft white and hard red and blend them for my bread. A 25 pound bag of each had lasted me 9 months.

I found that to be the case too. Left my loaf of Ezekiel bread on the counter for a few days. Went to make toast and there was a bunch of mold on several slices.☹️ Now I keep it refrigerated or frozen. Makes me think it's pretty healthy.
Thank you Dr. Berg. Spelt flour is also really good. St. Hildegard recommended spelt even to fight cancer
My D2 blood sugar was going up & up for 2 months, because of 3 weeks of flu, followed by an injury, which has resulted in hardly any exercise. It was 7-8+ every morning , with medication. 3 days ago I came off bread, and my blood sugar dropped 3 points overnight, and is maintaining at a healthy 5-6. Bread is definitely the hardest addiction to overcome. This time is the final time!
I've been on a journey to find cleaner items to eat, this actually goes beyond organic. I had no idea how "dirty" some organic brands are compared to others.
Thank you though for talking about gluten and fermented/sprouted bread. I'll definitely take a look for these organic versions.
Gluten in bread is the only protein humans can’t digest. Gluten side effects include gut inflammation and health conditions like celiac disease
Einkorn is an ancient grain that has not been altered in a long time.
Ingredients
•1/2 cup Einkorn flour
•1 cup almond flour
•1/4 cup coconut flour
•1/4 cup ground flaxseed
•2 teaspoons baking powder
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum
•1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
•4 large eggs
•1/4 cup melted butter
•1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
•1 teaspoon stevia or erythritol (optional, for a sweeter taste)
•1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, for a more savory flavor)
Instructions

Is this a bread recipe? Lol
@@alexjones9171 yes its by dr berg in his notes
People should start eating something better other than bread in the morning, bread is not essential in the human diet, I for one eat eggs and avocado as a breakfast
I eat 2 bananas instead for carbohydrates
@@whoknows8223 I always recommend eating good fats and protein for breakfast not carbs
@@vicentemonsalve5884bananas are good for you what do you mean?
@@iamieeesha9619 I prefer avocados or citric fruits such as strawberries in moderate quantities, modern bananas are way too big and packed with sugar and will make you hungry fast again
@@iamieeesha9619bananas are good for you, but eating 2 is a lot of natural sugar and carbohydrates. Carbs turn to sugar in the body, so better to consume in moderation.
Great video. I removed all bread from my eating habits except for pumpernickel bread. I eat pumpernickel bread because I read that it can actually help with digestion, and contains heart healthy fats. 🌿
DOC....you are really a hero!!! I've been getting sick on any kind of dough products!!! I want to bake the bread in the video you & your wife,Karen did❤😂🎉
The earliest bread our European ancestors ate was acorn bread. Made with 100% white oak acorns from the early Neolithic period - while Stonehenge was being built.
I read that grain had given the Stonehenge builders the wealth to build a powerful ruling class
@@elizabethmelvin6276 The original people there tinkered with agriculture for 5k years before building phase one. Yes grain was wealth for them but not as much as livestock. I think barley was one of the major crops before wheat or rye.
I started eliminating lunch from my day (I work construction building houses) as it was the main meal I’d be consuming breads/grains. I feel so much better, way more energy. I drink electrolytes and perhaps have some fruit or protein. The worst part is the looks from coworkers as they sit down for their giant sandwiches and burgers
Don't sit with them 👍 not obligated to.
No. Almond flour is way too high in oxalates!!!
Exactly! Almonds flour is not good. I found a keto bakery that uses coconut flour. We use them for any special treats, like for birthdays.
Acorn flour 👍

Hi friend
I agree.😊
My daughter was having stomach issues, for months. We were worried because we didn't know what it was. She even had to drop out of school because lost too many classes. Finally, we found out she is allergic to GLUTTEN! Now she is eating gluten-free and feels awesome again.
Thank you ❤💯💚

But not bought bread
GREAT INFORMATION ONCE AGAIN, DON’T EAT LOW FIBER, CHEMICAL BREAD 😇👍🏾
Many can't afford the healthy foods that you should eat. All healthy foods are very high priced. When I cut some things out I loose weight, and I don't need to loose any at all. I don't want to be skin and bones.

Great video, one other thing about all bread is that the crust is made of glycated proteins. This can increase it's inflammatory impact on the body and negatively affects blood sugar. Remember HbA1C is a glycated protein which measures the inflammatory impact of excess sugar in the blood.
I make sourdough bread about once a week, and my gut seems to have no problems with it. I use organic unbleached flower and organic wheat flour. I love this bread , and it doesn’t cause me inflammation that I know of. We recently stopped eating bread as a family. No more pancakes, muffins, cereal, no more oatmeal…my ankles don’t swell anymore
Organic oatmeal is gluten free. Eat it! It's the very best and takes the toxins from your body and flushes them out. It also lowers sugar. Lowers cholesterol, improves brain power and greatly uses your chances of colorectal cancer because of the high fiber content.
