    His decision to go around was so calm, natural and well timed it really proves this Captain is the safest piece of equipment in the aircraft.

    Captain Rob is the kind of guy we need flying he made the decision for safety not how much extra fuel he might burn or delays just purely safety. We need more men like him as captains.

    I had some opportunities to fly with Captain Arana and i can guarantee he is one of the best pilot in our company and taught me a lot. Good flights "meu ala"!

    I was impressed with the extra time and setup space that he set in the go around. I am sure there'll be other far more experienced pilots than me who will say all of this is routine -which it is. But nothing lost in praising the routine.

    No shame in going around and re-setup where as continuing might be the last thing you ever do. Good Job. FYI...I have gone around several times myself in my 32 years as a pilot.

    Capt.Rod, you are my kind of pilot. If the landing is not stabilized , you are smart TOGA and not risk the lives of your crew and passengers just to execute a dangerous landing. Excellent decision under the circumstances and using prudent judgement!

    Like another user commented, great to be let into your cockpit Captain Rod.
    Go around, a procedure all pilots apply on tiny aircrafts (our instructors tell us all the time).
    Interesting to see it done on a big bird like this one. It was nicely done too.
    Thanks also for the debriefing at the end, didn't know that the crosswinds aren't as strong in Brazil as they are here in europe.

    It’s a huge safety issue cross winds and down winds,which in the years gone has cost a lot of lives.

      There are tens-of-thousands of pilots flying the line that you don't see on youtube that do the same thing every day. Training and experience really pay off. Al Haynes and crew, John Testrake and crew, Sully, Jeff and crew, all from different carriers, but did the job. There is a difference between pilots and aviators. Most of you have already posted that quality.

      Pilot Faris you shouldn’t! If a go around must be applied to keep it safe then what is the problem? I even had pilots with 10.000+ hrs making go arounds bcause of their own failure. Just keep it safe up there ;)
