      Scotty Kilmer don’t know if you will reply, but I bought a new motor on my Prelude for my passenger side. I’m getting power on my switch that shows it goes up and down. Motor is brand new. Still showing sign that it goes down but not up. The driver side doesn’t do anything to make the passenger side go up or down. Could it be the driver side that’s the issue for both? (Driver side window works fine).

      I took my 4 year old car with only 40,000 miles to a body shop after something hit the windshield putting a smash in it and then damaged the driver’s door (I never saw a thing). The sleezy repair guy (recommended by my insurance agent) stole my entire car and put its vin into a similar vehicle that had been in a flood and looked like it had been used as a dog house in a salvage. Cops wouldn’t even take a report, couldn’t even talk to da without a police report, tried for over 2 years to find an attorney. Only justice I got was the insurance agent going to prison over unrelated but worse crime involving child porn. I’m a woman, but I’ll watch every TH-cam video before I’ll ever take my car, my mower, or anything I can possibly maintain or repair myself to a repair person. Scotty is one of my favorites and there are a few others that explain everything so well, even us ladies can usually fix it.

    you have to trace the wiring as in my other video "finding the source of electrical shorts", that stuff gets complex, you need special tools for that, or else trace the wiring all the way from the fuse to the door locks themselves.

    no time limit really, but try spraying the window glass front and back with spray silicone lube, that often speeds em up. But if not, time for new motor and possibly regulator assembly

    check the main fuse for that first, pray it's just blown. If not, wiring short, check each switch to see if they get power and if none, rewire power there.

    a sticking window can do that. Spray silicone spray lube on the front and back of the glass where it rides on the ridge in the door frame, that often helps. If not, you need a new motor

    yes, you can unbolt the motor from the regulator, then use radiator clamps to hold the glass up in place on the regulator assembly. I do that all the time for people with little funds

    Another amazing video Scotty. All the windows on my 2001 nissan xterra were bad so I had to take it to the dealer. Luckily there was a recall and they replaced all the motors for free. But atleast now I know how to do it myself if I ever need to replace one.

    cockeyed is a worn window regulator assembly. That can also make em go slow, but so can a weak wearing out motor.

  • @scottykilmer

    try lubricating the front and back runners with spray silicone

  • @scottykilmer
    @scottykilmer  10 ปีที่แล้ว

    check the fuse for windows, you may have just blow that. If not, go back to that wire and trace it for power shorts as in my video "finding the source of electrical shorts on your car"
