    One of the really nice things is anyone can have these imported quite easily, making it a prime choice where people would otherwise be stuck with an expensive new or used market.

    • @damascenoalisson
      @damascenoalisson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly, not everyone lives in USA or UK, so availability and prices always were concern. Well, not now with cheap parts with free shipping worldwide :-)

    • @HazewinDog
      @HazewinDog 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not convinced though. I've gotten slapped with massive import tax twice now, once from the USA and once from Japan I believe. So far so good with China and Korea, but I haven't bought electronics outside of the EU yet and I believe that's what gets the biggest import tax slapped on... I'm really not trusting buying hardware outside of the EU.

    • @samobakan1008
      @samobakan1008 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HazewinDog Same, sometimes I see these amazing deals and I am so tempted to buy it. But here in my country they smack a 40% import fee on all products over 25€ and also 5€ for opening package and sometimes 10€ for proccesing. So buying outside of EU is sadly not an option for me too.

    Great video! I've reviewed a couple other models of these x79 boards. One of them was a modified P75 chipset, the other was actually reading as a genuine x79. It looks like they're using the same BIOS as your board, and these were locked to 3.9GHz as well. I've given the same advice in my videos, as I don't recommend high overclocks on these. Stock or light OC works just fine, but I was also concerned with heat, and the difference between 3.9 and 4.2 just isn't going to be worth toasting a board over.

    I am glad people are still talking about x79. This was my first build back in the day. I just bought what had the biggest number as I didn’t know what I was doing at all. I went from a i7 3820 and later upgraded to a 4960x on eBay for $180 US on eBay. I could have done the 4930k for $30 less but splurged for the laughs. This setup runs at 4.5 ghz on 1.28v stable. On cinebench Single core performance smokes a Ryzen 1600 @ 4 ghz and is really close on multicore. I intend to hold onto this system for a long time.

    Hello, I have huanan x79 gaming (orange one). If you want to flash bios use "fpt" tool (afudos doesnt work), it is linked on russian site. I managed to overclock my E5 1650 to 4.0 Ghz on all cores and 4.2 turbo on 1 or 2 cores. 4x4 GB 1600mhz ddr3 from my previous pc easily overclocked to 2133mhz cl12 with russian bios. Key for that is changing power limits options : long dur 210W/time 60, short dur 252W. Orange version has Intel Patsburg C600/X79 chipset. Mine E5 1650 goes up to 155W on CPU Package under aida 64 stress test.

      There is a TH-cam video which is showing a step by step bios update with afudos
      I know that my motherboard can’t be flashed with afudos
      Could you please send me some instructions on how to use fpt tool and which version of bios to download for my huanan v2.49 motherboard

      You can find instructions for fpt tool on x79.apphb.com/mb/ . Below fpt tool section there is bios list. You need to find matching bios date for your motherboard version and download it. On my motherboard I had to unplug all sata drives in order to boot from usb device.

    I bought one of these, got here this week, I put an i7-4820k (it was a good deal on ebay about 60 GBP), running at 4.3 GHz, couldn't go higher without voltage control, but can't complain for 56 GBP. One great thing about the xeons and the i7-extreme cpu is the 40 PCI-E lanes. A graphics card would max out the 16 lanes of normal core i cpus, and with an other PCI-E card (wifi, sound, usb or whatever) or an NVME drive it would take away from the gpu. Mine has a Q77 chipset, the description on aliexpress you can normally find what chipset to expect, they have two or three, can't choose though.

  • @chepep0n

    Aliexpress has been a life saver lately when it comes to value computer parts. I put together a kit with their cheap 775 mobo (30 usd), Q6600 (10), and 2x4 gb ddr3 (28). Maybe I could get cheaper prices on ebay or whatever, but for a place that tests everything and has easier to manage return policies, it's easier to get more consistent results. Also regarding the mobo, I know I could have picked up a lenovo or OEM board for around 10, but the boards I found that accepted the Q6600 or it's bretheren weren't ATX compatible boards, though they were good options for when the i5s drop in price.

    If you're getting some throttling, it's probably not the VRMs, it's probably the default power throttling. When you're in the CPU power section adjusting the maximum core clock, set the short and long term power limits to 255. After doing that my CPU no longer throttled under intense load. VRMs are fine to run at 125 degrees C or lower. The ones that came on my board are decent quality Ubiq VRMs, the same found on many Asus and Zotac products. I have the Runing X79 VB10 so your mileage may vary depending on what board you have.

    my nephew wants to get in to pc gaming (fortnite) and his dad asked me to build him a pc for 100€ so i found a pre build i5 2500 1tb hdd 4 gb ram (will add 4gb more) for 60€ i have my old gt 1030 that i will put in that system. do you guys think it is enough for 2018 ?

      if you can atleast here in the US you can usually find i7 2600 prebuilts or i5 3670 prebuilts for around the same price as the i5 2500s... if you can go with that, and if it's really jute for Fortnite and such? sell the 1TB HDD and buy him a small (128-256GB) SSD... It'll be good for running most games at 720p high or 1080p (high for easy titles like esports; medium and low for harder ones)

    • @DREAMCASTxGAMER
      @DREAMCASTxGAMER 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      BATZE 22 it should be fine but you won't be able to play at 1080p with everything cranked up. I would say you should be able to get fortnite to run at 60fps at 1080p low settings. You might have to run it at 900p. Most games should run fine but again you will have to lower settings and resolutions and it might not be able to hit 60fps in most modern games. Older games like arkham city, mirrors edge, etc... should run great.

      Depends on what resolution he ( or his screen ) playing at if it's 720p that system should fly but if he has a 1080p or higher resolution monitor then you will need to turn down the eye candy and maybe even use the scaling option ( if it's 1080p then set the scaling around 70% and then that be like a 720p screen resolution ) ! If that is not enough for him then later on you could still upgrade the GPU to a 1050 or 1050 ti if the power supply is good enough !

    The issue with USB generally isn't an issue with selective suspend. It's due to Intel not releasing a USB 3.0 driver for Windows 8 and later, as Microsoft created their own generic USB 3.0 driver, similar to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. On Windows 8.1 and older versions of Windows 10, USB 3.0 is highly problematic on systems with many ports, like higher end X99 motherboards. I found updating Windows 10 to at least 1709 or using a modified Intel USB 3.0 driver fixed all of my USB issues.

    Nice review, but for me as a x 79 user with an intel I7 3960x ( and i'm looking for a new motherboard to replace my current asus rampage 4 one) i would not dare to put my hardware in there. Like you say this will work with server cpu's and slow ddr3 speeds and no oc. I think i'll stay on my current mobo even if i does not support win 10 and some improvement like the HUANAN . I'll still have my 5 ghz oc and quad channel ddr 2400 MHZ. I Just wished there were still some good x79 board available with supported firmware and drivers. There's no reason to upgrade my system due to prices of current hardware and upcoming tech also i want a new cpu line with no patches for vulnerabilities a decade old. My 7-8 year old cpu ( due to the high oc ) has no problem keeping up with a stock 8700 k . My bench test often outperform the stock 8700 k with a ocd gtx 1080 ti . And btw according to intel x 79ex is not affected by the whole specter meltdown stuff ;)

    For a little over $400 on Newegg you could get yourself a modern amd platform with a 6 core r5 1600 and 16gigs of DDR4 memory...hard to see the value in a much older platform when you can get so much more performance, support and modern features with Ryzen.

    I was really wondering why there aren't more actually good and working chinese pc parts. They managed not only to copy western technology like smart phnes and action cameras but surpassed our technology. Theres a very interesting documentary about shenzen, their tech hub. So I really hope they come out with pc tech to create more competition and more supply to the other companies out there. Prices of pc parts have become riddicoulous for average consumers

    • @mxn1948
      @mxn1948 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the price isn't that much different because many of these parts are already made in china, so one from a chinese brand isn't going to be much cheaper, and of course the cpu are intel or amd since no one else make a competitive x86 cpu for general computing. though china did just recently managed to set up shop and make ddr4 memory, so here's hoping memory prices come down soon.

      Motherboard makers still needs to buy a chipset and license from Intel and AMD. The chipset isn’t just a semiconductor component they can copy and build on their own.
      Smartphone makers however can just buy an ARM Snapdragon chip and design their device around it. Android OS is free and open source.
      Action Cams like the Go Pro is easy to reverse engineer. They’ll just write their own custom software firmware to copy the functionality of a Go Pro.

      @@iMadrid11 they only will if its amd or intel, and they obviously could create a new chipset, nvidia did so when via was dying and did take their part in intels rigs and im not too sure but i think in amd based systems too, and it wasnt allways AMI bioses but with the change of chipsets from the manufacturer and dying of the brands like msi who did make their money through that (though they recovered quite well) american megatrends did rescue themselves the right to write a few of the many lines of code in each chipset and bios each time
