a theory of why the vodka was working better then the manufacturer liquid: alcohol evaporates much sooner than water, so the process of evaporation can "steal" energy out of the water and hang out at the top of the reservoir until it cools down. The reason why we use water to boil stuff is because at boiling it holds at 100C exactly and cannot exceed it, here, the vodka will struggle to go past 80C even without cooling
@puppy dog If you got pure 200 proof 99.9999% ethanol it will work much better than vodka. Downside is if you drink that stuff you will be totally Peizdec for rest of life. And you can probably rub vodka on top of where your cpu is to get some cooling. Ice packs also work. just remember to keep your fan holes open or PC will totally melt. Trust me. I have done it before.
@@asovietreunion13 I get that this is a joke probably but bathing in vodka where it can evaporate and cool you of that way has nothing to do with a closed loop where it can't evaporate
@@Szabodomi well, it shouldn't. Alcohol isn't a better heat conductive liquid than water (in fact water is one of the best, and very few can outmatch it !) The cooling potential is in fact the thermal capacity. For Ethanol, it is roughly 2438 J/kg/K while water stands at 4185 J/kg/K (If you're not familiar with it, it means you need 4185 J to make the temperature of 1 kg of water increase by 1°C). If we take a Vodka that is composed of roughly 40% of Ethanol and 60% of water, the thermal capacity of Vodka would be : 0.6 x 4185 + 0.4 x 2438 = 3486 J/kg/K that it 83% of the thermal capacity of pure water. The temperatures should be *in theory* 17% higher running on a Vodka cooled PC than Water cooled PC. (I didn't take the Heat Conductivity in mind for this, but the same thinking can be applied : Ethanol heat conductivity is 0.169 W/m/K while Pure Water stands at 0.61 W/m/K, which is substantially higher, making Water a much better heat conductive liquid) The results however shows that vodka is a better coolant, probably because the test were made on stalker and metro, where the blyat power is the biggest

In all honesty, the level of intelligence, planning, imagination and dedication of this guy is unbelievable. Do his colleagues at work even know that he is Boris?
This is actually a good idea because alcohol has an extremely low freezing temperature edit: I’ve read some of the comments and yeah, it’s both a good and bad idea, the alcohol really isn’t good for the tubing and inside of a water cooled pc, but it could very well be used practically with different solutions like one using just plain wood grain alcohol alone if the pc is running at very high temperatures if you where to overclock it, but I’m talking about like really over clocking it, I don’t know much about computers, but I do know some chemistry and had the idea for this comment when I heard a story about a kid stealing some of their parents vodka and replacing some with water and the water froze but the little remaining vodka didn’t.
@@Chuck-xo4tk It is unlikely to ignite unless, a minimum concentration of fuel-oxygen mixture is achieved. In other words, unless it leaks, and there is a spark, nothing to worry about.
The heat from a lit match won’t ignite vodka but lighters and butane torches will. If your pc reaches butane torch temperature then you are doing something wrong
That’s also a problem because it vaporizes more easily, making you having to install a pressure releasing plug on your reservoir and I would not recommend using plexi for a long time since alcohol has a chance to destroy it

TL;DR Boris is accidentally a genius. That's interesting. I wonder...... *(quick google search for specific heat as the physicist in me takes over)* Ok, so water has a specific heat (or heat capacity, however you were taught) of 1 calorie/gram °C (I know that's a lot of units to take in). Alcohol has a specific heat of around .5 calorie/gram °C. This means that it takes less energy to cool/ heat alcohol than water. But vodka is 40% alcohol and 60% water. So it has a specific heat of .8 calorie/gram °C. So, we need to use Q=c*m*ΔT, where c is the specific heat, m is the mass (lets say you used 500ml of liquid. That would be 500 grams of water and 458g of Vodka because alcohol is less dense than water and vodka is 40% alcohol), and ΔT is the change in temperature(50-30=20°C for both). For water, this would be 10kcal to raise the temperature 20°C. For the vodka, it would be 8kcal to raise the temperature 20°C. That's a 2kcal or 20% difference. This means the vodka gets heated by the CPU and cooled by the radiator with 20% less energy than water. Meaning it's a more efficient cooler. You, my gopnik friend, are a damn genius. *Side notes* On EK WB systems, the seals are silicon, the pipe connectors are metal, and the pipes are pvc. There's no acrylic for the alcohol to eat. The calories used in the equation are 1/1000 the energy of the Calories on nutrition labels. To denote this, basic calories are lower cased, while food Calories are upper cased. but to prevent further confusion, kilo-calories are used in place of Calories when there are more than 1000 calories and not talking about food.
Indeed, alcohol is better coolant than water, that's why most antifreeze coolant in cars are alcohol based. The only problem with alcohol is if vodka leave deposits, or worse, could derive in corrosion on the radiator and/or CPU blocks (Aside from foul smell from cooked vodka in the system.).
All games optimised to run Russian. Full support in any game for Russian voice and subtitles. No exceptions. All text in games is changed to Russian. Even billboards.
you've got to be kidding me. youtube recommended me this video now? really? I thought this guy just made reservoir with vodka bottle but he actually mixed vodka into it. Narration is perfect. Glorious.
Actually..I have to mention this.. The liquid should go from pump to CPU and then radiator. Your setup just pushes bubbles into the radiator and then into the water block and reduces the effectiveness of cooling. The reservoir can "filter out" the bubbles and push smooth liquid into the CPU block and then send it to be cooled.

*Side notes*
On EK WB systems, the seals are silicon, the pipe connectors are metal, and the pipes are pvc. There's no acrylic for the alcohol to eat.
The calories used in the equation are 1/1000 the energy of the Calories on nutrition labels. To denote this, basic calories are lower cased, while food Calories are upper cased. but to prevent further confusion, kilo-calories are used in place of Calories when there are more than 1000 calories and not talking about food.
why? just why? why would you do that to yourself?
Because I like it.
Do you have too much time on your hands, lul
Had an hour to kill while my roast finished cooking
Indeed, alcohol is better coolant than water, that's why most antifreeze coolant in cars are alcohol based. The only problem with alcohol is if vodka leave deposits, or worse, could derive in corrosion on the radiator and/or CPU blocks (Aside from foul smell from cooked vodka in the system.).
The fact that this was the first ever Boris video i watched makes me laugh very good channel.
Now I can't play anymore racing games cuz my PC is very drunk
Good one блядь :DDD
Instructions unclear, ended up drunk with the gopniks

Vadim!
i would give a like, but i can't ruin the legendary 420
Ooo Vadim it's you blay
So you finally upgraded your PC with MiG Radar cooling technology?
No seriously the MiG-21 and MiG-25 did use drinkable alcohol to cool their radars!
yes in dcs while working the radar has 25 mins of use beacuse the cooling worked while standby it has around 1 hour
They used molten lead to cool reactor on Alpha submarines. That should be Boris next project.
Thanks

you've got to be kidding me. youtube recommended me this video now? really? I thought this guy just made reservoir with vodka bottle but he actually mixed vodka into it. Narration is perfect. Glorious.
Was playing STALKER Lost Alpha and i found you in thee bar at the metal factory. Brought back so many memories i had to come see this vid again.
But Boris, you forgot to use halva for the cpu thermal paste and add the adidas stripes for ultimate slav coolness
Tom the Fish he used mayonez instead
No Halva -those damn ants are going to cause a lot of issues. It killed the keyboard and the whole laptop because those damn bastards lived inside it.
Intel got halva thermalpaste under heatspreader so it wont make a big diffrence

There's a fourth option
Move to Siberia
But I am already in Siberia!
It does not help!
Справедливо.

This is why I pay my internet bill.
200th like on your comment =DD
400th ^^
actually same
*_THE FLOOR IS SLAVA_*
Actually..I have to mention this..
The liquid should go from pump to CPU and then radiator.
Your setup just pushes bubbles into the radiator and then into the water block and reduces the effectiveness of cooling.
The reservoir can "filter out" the bubbles and push smooth liquid into the CPU block and then send it to be cooled.
