In this awesome STEP BY STEP video I teach you HOW OT REPLACE YOUR HYUNDAI CAR ANTENNA. This method also works on KIA cars too. I included the link above. No more searching the internet for a "universal shark fin antenna". Use a genuine HYUNDAI product for your car. This same antenna cap works for both HYUNDAI and KIA. You will need a few tools in order to do this project successfully. You will need a small screw driver, tape, something to trim the inside plastic pieces of the antenna cap and some JB weld to seal the cap to the antenna base. I show you how to do each step. Great video; thanks for sharing! I really appreciate that you show the steps of running into troubles (the piece that you had to unscrew, cutting out the plastic nubs with the soldering/welding pin and when you had to crush off the plastic pieces around the screws on the base), so the rest of us know there may be some hiccups. I live in a suburb area outside Detroit, and I did mines in a target store parking lot with my two steps -step stool with all the tools you showed in the vid including small paint brush 😅, and it seem to get the attention of men, I know they was wondering what I was doing or what I thought I was doing… no pun intended, but most men treat women like we don’t know anything,, since being divorced I have to do things myself….I’m a girly-girl, so I’m always looked at like that, I use to get offended, but now I take it as a compliment.

It won't come off if you stay away from car wash. I have a 14 year-old Hyundai that has never been to car wash, and its cover is as good as new.
@@weekendwarrior3420 Well, some of us don't have time to hand wash weekly or twice a week when it's dirty. Consider yourself fortunate that you HAVE the time and aren't consumed with a full time job, a part time job, a parent on hospice, a son with mental health problems and 2 homes to maintain. Your a lucky person to have so much time.
@@clay282 Yes, I live in a city and don't have to wash it every week. Even so, if you practice, it takes 10 min. I have all you listed, except I have 4 homes, but still have time to hand wash my 5 cars once a month.
I have a '16 Sonata. I didn't have to do any of that stuff inside the cover. It set right back on flush with no problem. I just glued it up around the bottom edge and a drop on each screw threads... Gorilla glue. Time will tell. If it comes off, I'll have a go at the headliner.

I was clearing wet heavy snow off my car yesterday and the antenna popped off. I snapped it back on but today I took my cat to the vet and realized when I got there, the antenna was nowhere to be found. So now I’m gonna have buy one off amazon and put it on. Tragedy 😢
I have bought two covers and there suppose to be for a 2021 Hyundai Tucson Sport and neither one fit. The antenna isn't flat like what was shown on the video of the car, mine stands up,but i can't find a picture anywhere showing what the cover should look like with that kind of antenna

Misleading title. This replaces the cap not the antenna, which is what I was looking for.
It’s not misleading because none of us need a new antenna, that still works. We just need a new cap to protect the antenna
The title says "Replace.....car antenna", though you only replace the cover. That's all I was pointing out. Good video on replacing the cover though. I do need to replace the antenna base itself on mine.

Would this work for a 2015 Hyundai Azera? The antenna has the fin sticking up an inch or so. And the roof is slightly rounded.

Does this work for the Genesis?
The link does not go to the original antenna cap on a Kona. It shows a shark fin. Don’t waste your time if you have a combo satellite/FM antenna. This one does not have a mast which is what I need.

Another antenna BROKEN BY CAR WASH, and I have to post another comment. Stay away from car wash and tell your friends! Happened to me also, and I learned they had FINE PRINT that they were NOT RESPONSIBLE for this. CAR WASH KNOWS THEY DAMAGE CARS. Unbelievable scam targeting lazy people!

I have the same model with the moon roof cept mine is a 2016. Most shark fin replacement covers are saying not compatible with GPS

Why would you need to remove it? If you really had to you would take the headliner off and remove it from the top. I hope that answers your question.

Yes, if continue using car wash and repeating this repair, eventually JB weld buildup won't let it go back on, at that point you'll buy the whole assembly and learn how to replace it.

Jump on any Kia or Hyundai forum, it's a known issue that many owners run into. Mine on my 2016 Sonata just snapped off in the car wash a couple weeks ago.

THANK YOU!!! I lost my antena after a car wash as well! And it was the day before I was supposed to drive to IL from California. I had no idea what to do so I just put tape on it to protect it and hoped for the best. So far that’s what I’ve had on it for months. I’ve been waiting for a couple of months to find a solution, I’m so glad to have found this and that you made this video.

mine also,broke off at car wash!
Someone stole my antenna cover off my 2020 kia optima and bent the bottom of the mounting unit and is not lying flat down on the hood. I did purchase the cover and glue, but the black bottom of the mount of the unit is lifted up like bent towards the way they pulled the antenna cover off. My radio is still working. Do you have any suggestions?

@@Thedrayghost I did. So I found out that the antennas that we have are the gps/ satellites. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a company that creates the cover. I only found ones where you have to replace the whole antenna itself
