I highly doubt it's an eye considering the general design for bullet bills in the main series has remained relatively consistent and it's unlikely they'd make such an odd design for its eyes like that

the animated pictures weren't removed. they actually do animate on the final version natively but you can only see them in grand prix mode when the camera flies though the course before the race starts. i believe the skating pictures not animating is actually a glitch, not disabled. i made a code to re enable the pictures animating in the final. also little known fact but in the demo you can drag the blue shell :P i was part of the finding a dumping process of the Europe version of the mkds demo kart. its was so hard to find that cart... i have both usa and europe demo carts :P

There's a lot of stuff in this game I wished they kept in, shame it was rushed. I'd like to have seen Dokan Course, Test Circle, the Magenta Shell, Bowser Shell, Chain Chomp, E.Gadd, fully playable Shy Guy, the Red Fire recolours from the prototype based heavily on Double Dash, and I might've actually liked Waluigi Pinball if it used it's earlier desgin.

Let me talk about what differences I know about in the courses. Music: I absolutely love the instruments so much! The main differences are the Brass, Percussion, some Basses, Saxophone, Electric Piano, and Organ sound different than the final. Intro Cameras: Not too much to talk about, but 12 nitro tracks and 5 retro tracks are either not available or messed up. Replay Cameras: All courses except for Figure 8 Circuit have different replay cameras. Some cameras are the same as in the final, and some cameras that are changed are understandable why. Waluigi Pinball and Rainbow Road don’t have cameras yet. Overview Maps: Some of which are less detailed, and 3 course maps are not implemented Minimaps: Some are less pixelated (which is the earliest style), some are pixelated, and some aren’t here yet.
pink shell ideas: 1) hits the person in last 2) hit a random person (including yourself) 3) bounces around like the green shell, but if it hits someone, they become small (like if they were hit by lightning).
Here's a fact: The letters in the Pictochat Logo (which got carried over to the 3ds) have some secret replacement symbols. The P is an add friend icon, used for the Local Multiplayer screen. I, C, H, A, & T are used for the retro course tags.
Damn, this really kicks me right in the nostalgia gut. I used to watch videos of the beta tracks all the time when I was younger, of course because I didn't know better, I just assumed they were hidden courses so I spent ages trying to find methods to unlock them, but non of them worked. Now I just see them for what they are, early and beta versions of tracks that made it to the final game, although NGL the beta song does kinda slap doe and I wish they kept it in the game. Much prefer it to the circuit song they eventually used.

This game was my shit back in the day. The best part about it was the DS download feature which allowed anyone who had a DS to be able to play multiplayer "locally" even if you didn't have the game.
