These total war games have the same issue that I have with Civilization. I love it in premise and the insanely stupid fun things I can do and still be tactically sound is great but the turn timers make me want to kill myself. Like I could have a faster paced more fulfilling civ building experience in dwarf fortress, where capital punishment became a fact of life for dwarf and pet alike to combat a civilization spanning tantrum spiral I started because I didn’t know about brewing and thought my civilization didn’t need it so I would learn it later. I have come to learn that booze prevents hammer based suicide by cop.
