    Had water dripping into the tub for a few days...decided to put a bucket in the tub to see just how much.. 5 gallon bucket filled over 1/2 way overnight... sheesh. Read up some and found that most likely the water inlet valve was faulty. Called our local service person and they quoted $300 assuming it was this part - saying it cost over $100 just for the part. Looked around for videos on my Cabrio model (WTW7300DW2) and yours was the first I found that used a similar model and was comprehensive and concise. Fantastic job! $44 on Amazon and 2 days later - fixed! Leak alone over the course of a year would have cost me a chunk. Thanks!!!

      In the video, I show what screws were removed around the 0:40 mark.
      On the model in the video, I unscrewed the back of the control panel.
      On other models, you have to use a putty knife in the front of the machine to release it.
      Check out this video around the 1:24 mark for a demo:

      Thanks. In your video, it looked as if it just lifted off. I figured it out. There are very tough clips that were not easy to putty knife off. One was a bit rusted, so it was even more difficult. Also, pulling the connectors were not so easy. Hopefully I didn't damage anything. I finished though, but have not tested it yet. Your video did help. Thanks!

    I'm not able to remove the wire harness...tried white lithium grease which I believe is the same as WD-40. They won't budge! Any other ideas? I"m afraid I'll damage the metal piece that the new wire harness needs to attach to. Thanks. Great video!

    • @DIYTutorialGuy
      @DIYTutorialGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting.
      White lithium grease and WD-40 are completely different compounds.
      WD stands for water dispersant. It’s a light silicone oil based product.
      My understanding is that lithium grease is a heavy (nigh temperature) lubricating grease for roller/ball bearings and the like.
      My advice would be to get some WD-40 sprayed where you need it, let it do its thing, and go from there.

    Thank you for sharing this video. My Whirlpool Cabrio is continuing to fill with water when it should not be- like during the drain portion of the cycle. The water continues to flow, even after the machine is unplugged and has to be shut off at the valves. This does not happen on every cycle- sometimes it's fine- but now I have to always watch it closely in case it doesn't shut off. Does it seem like a washer inlet valve replacement would be the solution?

    • @DIYTutorialGuy
      @DIYTutorialGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems like a different issue, so I did some digging around the internet for an answer.
      Here is a link to what I found:
      removeandreplace.com/2015/01/29/washer-fills-and-drains-at-the-same-time-how-to-fix/
      This article literally discusses your exact issue.
      Hopefully this helps and your fix is easy!

    • @shayden5382
      @shayden5382 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYTutorialGuy thanks so much for your quick reply! However, I don't think what you found is the solution as my washer continues to fill even if unplugged. That is what has me leaning toward it being the repair you show in the video, but a different symptom.

    • @DIYTutorialGuy
      @DIYTutorialGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I should have read your comment more carefully.
      As for it filling even when unplugged, I’m far from an expert, but something there is strange.
      Honestly, it may be best to call an appliance repair tech out to your house.
      Have them do a diagnosis of the issue and an estimate of what the repair would cost.
      If it’s the inlet valve, use this tutorial and DIY!
      If not, it may be best to let the tech do the repair.

    I am thinking about doing this with my WTW8500DC2 I get error LF (Long Fill) and wont fill.
    Cold doesn't come through at all and hot will trickle in but not enough.
    It was working one day and the all of a sudden the next day it stopped working.
    It clicks like its about to fill and after a few minutes it goes to drain mode (with no water).
    Then I get the LF error.
    I've read about removing the red and blue mesh filters to clean them, but mine do not come out.
    I'm just breaking the plastic off every time I try to take them out with the pliers.
    Do you remember from your old part if those come out?
    I read that you changed the part because of a crack but I thought I would still try and ask.
    Thank you!

      I do not recall if those pieces come out, sorry.

      In the video I used needle nosed pliers and gently wiggled the plugs back and forth.
      It took a while, but they eventually came loose and I got them disconnected.
      If they seem stuck, I would suggest using a little WD40, or similar, and let it soak for a couple minutes.
      Try again and you should have success.
      Also, make sure to contain the WD40 sprat so it does not get everywhere!

      After having 2 online parts retailers fail me, I tried another internet search.
      Amazon came up this time, whereas previously they did not for this exact part.
      Low and behold, there was a vendor with 6 in stock.
      Cheaper than the other 2 places, and arrived in just over a week.

    How did you remove the cover

    • @DIYTutorialGuy

      On the model in the video, I unscrewed the back of the control panel.
      On other models, you have to use a putty knife in the front of the machine to release it.
      I believe I put a link for that in one of the comments.

      I have the same model as the video and I took out all the screws and have tried to pry and I’m getting nowhere.

      I believe for your model there’s a release in the front of the machine.
      You have to use a putty knife and stick it in the front of the lid to release it.
      Check out this video around the 1:24 mark for a demo:

      Look up model # and part # on repairclinic.com That page is a wealth of info and will clearly show updated part numbers that the manufacture uses and comparable #s. You can buy parts from that website or use that info to search other sites like Amazon.

    Can I replace my 3 solenoid inlet valve with a 2 solenoid inlet valve? It appears that the 3rd solenoid just opens the valve to feed water to the detergent dispenser which I never use anyway. My washer is great, but old. Model #110.92595200. I finally found the 3 solenoid valve on Amazon for over $100, the 2 solenoid valve is about $10 if I can find one that will bolt on N.Y. washer. I do want to keep my washer but hate to pay so much for the valve. What do you think? Thanks, Sandy

      As for your question, I'm not sure I can safely give you advice, as appliance repair is not my trade.
      However, if it were me, I would spend the $100 and install the correct part.
      This would give me piece of mind that I won't be doing some unnecessary repair down the road, or somehow cause damage to the washing machine.
