    Sir, you are an absolute legend! My washing machine had been leaking for months, and I couldn't fix it myself, so I was about to buy a replacement valve. But then I stumbled upon your video about the worn rubber on a piston and how to resurface it with Emery cloth. So, I gave it a try, and no more leaks now! Thanks so much for sharing this genius solution.

    Excellent video, thanks for the great explanation of how these work. Was about to replace the 5 valve manifold on my LG washer ($70 for the OEM part), but after watching your video figured I might give it a go at disassembling and cleaning. Worked like a charm. Took me about an hour to disassemble, clean and reassemble. So far, no more leaks.

    Thanks a ton for this info. All I could find was a really expensive spare part or second hand spares. This saved me the time of waiting (and paying) for a spare as all I had to do was to clean the valve. I get a lot of sand from my well in my water and some of it slips past the filter as it gets fuller. I really appreciate that you take the time to make videos like this, it helps to get more life out of appliances and reduces waste wich is fantastic!

    Very good! My Miele fill light came on; I figured it was the filler valve but didn't know what to do about it other then replace it for a gazillion dollars to Miele and get it sometime this millennium. You gave me a great idea! I have a 3 valve switcher, and the cold water fill wasn't working for the final rinse. After taking it apart, I found the diaphragm was not attached. I wasn't sure if it might do that again, so I switched out the one from the fabric softener one which I never use anyway. Now it works like a charm, saving lots of $, time and frustration. I wish I could get new diaphragms to rebuild them (they're almost 30 years old and are drying out). But, maybe this will be just the fix. Thanks for your great video, best one out there!!

    my little electrolux was often stuck in 'check the tap' mode meaning the solenoid is stuck, likely due to debris in my water from a tank on my boat..I had lots of stuff get clogged and I will check the filters and then pull the valves apart and do this repair. I'll bet thats it. I wish they'd describe the symptom which is to say check the tap and refuses to turn off or on or change settings on the control panel. Great video and I had to close my Microsoft browser and go to google chrome to sign in as my TH-cam user and get to comment here. THANKS for this good work! PS you should share how you get the door open when its in a stuck mode with an error. who would know you can just apply high force, like a crowbar, and the door will pop open without damage to the machine or the latch. This would be a lifesaver to folks with clothes stuck inside halfway through the cycle and they cant get them out. (really there should be an override for the electric door lock, dont we know it?)

    Awesome and very helpful video! Thank you so much. I was wondering how to control the water pressure on the inlet valves if possible? Especially powder wash number 4, which is the liquid detergent area. Some of our machines the pressure is so strong it leaks over the machine.

      Those areas of the soap box have the valves restricted by a restrictor on the outlet of the valve. If you were to remove the valve & look at the outlet you would see it there. The restrictors are available for replacement. They do wash out of the valve body. The replacement part is 471 823495. They look like a tiny button that you press back into the outlet. The other alternative is to replace the complete valve.

    Fantastic! My water comes straight from a well, and every time we have a rain the water gets very dirty. The water inlet has some filters but not enough apparently, so in my cace it was just a matter of opening the valve and cleaning it thoroughly, especially those micro holes in the valves. Worked like a charm. If the problem is repeating I am considering making those micro pores a bit less micro with a hot needle. 😊 Big cheers!

    • @albertalaundrysystems5928
      @albertalaundrysystems5928  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have to be careful opening up the micro holes. If the holes are too big the pressure will be unbalanced to the degree that the valve only opens a small amount

    Excellent video, however not all parts are created equal. The coils on mine were a very tight fit. I got the first one off ok, but when trying to remove the 2nd, the plastic housing that it sits over just snapped off. It certainly didn't slide up nice and easy like it did in this video - this is definitely not a criticism of the video, just a precaution for anyone trying to do the same. The inlet valve is about 6.5 years old and musn't be great quality as I also tried to remove the filter where the inlet hose connects and the clips snapped basically just by looking at them.
    General question: can the solenoid itself fail resulting in the piston not raising and therefore not letting the water in?

    Hi there. Your video on how to check and rectify a solenoid valve was very interesting and informative. My LG washing machine's solenoid valve of the cold water inlet isn't functioning, I suspect, it ought to be due to fine particals blocking the very fine holes as explained in the video. The other inlet is of Hot water which, I don't use. The unit has 2 separate valves on either side. The one on the left is Hot water and the other on the right is cold water. My question is, can I interchange the wiring inputs from cold to hot and vice-versa keeping in mind the polarity. Will it work ? I'm a retired Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor with Shipyard and Oil and Gas experience with limited knowledge of electrical subject. As the basic work of the solenoid valve is to open and close with the right amount of water pressure and electrical power as determined by the sensor in the washing machine. So what's the hunch ? Please advice.

    • @albertalaundrysystems5928
      @albertalaundrysystems5928  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most domestic manufacturers do not have the diaphragms available as a separate repair part. Our service department concentrates on larger industrial equipment. The valve we are repairing is from an Electrolux Professional machine. The valve manufacturer is Elbi & the Electrolux Professional part number is 471 823492. It might fit, I don't know. One time I was working on a competitor's machine, the valve was virtually identical except the blue tip on the plunger in the center of the diaphragm was not as long. I ground down the plastic with a file to make it fit - It worked. Good luck

    • @albertalaundrysystems5928
      @albertalaundrysystems5928  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the model of machine Error #10 can indicate either an inlet valve problem - taking too long to fill or a drain issue - taking too long to pump out the water. It can also be related to a faulty level control - the device that measures the water level but that is the most unlikely of the three. You will have to watch the machine & see when in the cycle the error is occurring. Alternatively, there should be a service program so that you can test the inlet valves or the pump by turning it on manually. I suggest you contact a local service company with the make, model & serial number of your unit. They may be able to help.

The micro holes and the center hole are completely clean and the diaphragm is also clean and looks to be in good condition. The center hole is about #55 drill size most of the way but right at the end where the plunger seats it closes down to a much smaller hole #70. Again, the hole is clean. Replaced my incoming dual valve with a 'Robinson' replacement. Will not open to allow water flow.
    A. Im pretty sure i connected the wires as they were, ? Does it matter?
    B. Could it be a board issue.
    If so, how do you diagnose, video?
    C. Do i need to reset Washer after getting an H F code, due to flow issue?
    D. What parts might keep the valves from opening?
    Any help is appreciated, Thank you!

      Hard to tell what the problem is, sounds like there may be no power to the valve. Have you checked the incoming voltage? Is the replacement valve the correct voltage? I am unfamiliar with the HF code - we specialize in Electrolux Professional equipment which is a different company than Electrolux (consumer). The valve theory is identical however.

    Wow, this video is especially useful for me since I have a 15 yo maytag atlantis 220v and the water inlet valve is no longer available. Rather than taking a chance on disassembling it, I ordered a 110v valve on amazon that looks identical to mine and I will swap the solenoids. I only wish I could find the correct 220v solenoids, I would replace those too.

    Is the piston reversible when we put it?

      No, The rubber part of the piston has to seal the hole in the center of the diaphragm
