      I was looking at this list and was actually surprised I don’t use any of these brands. My wife uses special order hat products for colored hair, we don’t really eat candy, I buy local coffee and just drink filtered tap water. It doesn’t look like it’s that hard if you just shop local and try to make a lot of food yourself. 16:15 For people with anxiety: keep in mind that this doesnt always work. It helps to bring you back to reality, but remember; anxiety works differently for EVERYONE and anxiety never works logically. This does usually help calm you down, but it depends on how your anxiety works and how severe the attack is. Every coping mechanism works differently for everyone; it takes trial and error to figure out which works best for you.
    I found it often also helps to find out the trigger (if there is one; sometimes there isnt, since again, anxiety does not work logically).
    I once had an anxiety/panic attack because of a teacher of mine and doing this didn't help calm me down. Like I said, it depends on the severity. Hyperventilating often makes it worse as well and can make you light headed, so try to control your breathing as well as you can (it's okay if it's not perfect; it's hard to control anything in that situation, especially if you're hyperventilating.)

    • @sylvrwolflol
      @sylvrwolflol ปีที่แล้ว +15

      On the flip side, the most effective way to calm someone _else_ is by:
      -making your presence known without touching, speaking loudly, or making quick movements
      -gentle affirmation if they start babbling, nothing committal and _no giving unsolicited advice_
      -saying that you're here, you're not going to leave, it's okay.
      -If they request for you to leave, respect their wishes. Check back in later with comfort food or something similar, give them at least 5-10 minutes.

      I've found that grounding only helps me when the cause of the anxiety attack is a "what if" situation with no basis in my current circumstances. If it's something that's happening right now, or just happened, it doesn't work. Because the event is/was a part of reality, being brought back to reality doesn't do anything for it in my case.
      Thank you for clarifying that it doesn't always work for everyone. A lot of people will see one mental health tip and apply it to a situation where it doesn't help, which just stresses them out more.

    13:45 if the chart maker is going to make fun of the Imperial system they should at least know why the measurements are the way they are before making the chart. Then how come they won't tell their voice actors to actually spend time making the content instead of lazily cutting it short because they "don't feel like it"?

Friskies is owned by Purina for instance, so if you're boycotting Nestlé and don't know each and every owned company then you can't tell without literally going through a chain of wikipedia articles. Labelling who owns the company is good, but not good enough for that.
      Mentioned that particular case because we literally just today were looking at which cat food brands were owned by which group. It's the illusion of choice. It's using companies and their brands as marketing research, but unless you find a local company you're probably stuck with the handful of concerns/groups that get your money no matter which brand you pick in the store. Usually anyway.

    Well back in the 70s the united states passed the metric conversion act and created a special administrative board to control the transition for school curriculums, Road signs, and Gasoline infrastructure among other things. The board had little real power but could examine facts and determine the best course of action. It's important to note that the conversion program was stipulated as voluntary in the act and there are some industries that did transition to the metric system though they tend to be internationally geared industries like trade and the sciences and manu consumer goods have both netric and standard measures on them. In the end the metric board was disbanded in 1981 after being largely ineffective. I am by no means an expert in this particular aspect of US history. I imagine that the problem came in trying to convince the states, congress cant really force the states to comply without abusing 2 specific clauses in the constitution and if the metric board was being unproductive then it makes sense for it to be dissolved.
