I'm diabetic. My parents used to let me eat tictacs by the box because they were "sugar free" as a kid. I was today years old when I finally learned why I was getting so sick after eating them. Thanks for potentially killing me tictacs :)

As a European, I'm baffled how much the US seems to lack even some basic customer and privacy protection laws. I feel like 95% of the shit in this video would be illegal here.

1. Turn your phone off
2. Hold the power button and then immediately start holding the volume down button (this will boot your phone into safe mode)
3. Now you will see that the popup no longer appears but there still are things you have to do
4. Go into settings>apps>(whatever app that is)
5. Press "Uninstall" (or "Disable")
6. Restart your phone

The dog eye medication: that’s not an underfilled package, that’s an oversized package. 99.5% sure that the weight of the medication indicated is what is actually there; the package just has to be larger than needed to hold it because of all the text they’re regulated to put on the tube.
Like with any package that may settle during shipping or needs air space to protect the contents: don’t look at the bags and say “This one looks bigger!”, but look at the actual listed weight of the contents.

For the one where you pay extra to ship a turtle with hydration options, that's actually there to see if a bad owner is trying to buy a turtle. The hydration option is free even if you click to pay that extra 98 cents, but if you click 'no' then the purchase is automatically cancelled and they refuse to send said turtle to you. It's a pretty clever design, honestly.

The original word CAPTCHAs were intended to help AI learn how to read for purposes of OCR (Optical Character Recognition), improving AI's ability to transcribe paper documentation into digital files. With images, they help teach AI to identify what an item is and all the parts of it. You can Google "CAPTCHAs train AI" and there's a significant number of articles regarding this subject.

The one about the college textbook being just loose paper only gets worse when you realize that the book is intentionally made to last only one term before becoming invalid, so selling it to another student isn't a thing, AND the campus bookstore itself won't buy it back BECAUSE IT'S LOOSE PAPER. Even if you put it in a binder, they won't take it back.

I was about to come down and say that! Yeah, it's clever how some of these pet supply companies are doing that with online orders. They would rather cancel a sale than risk an animal's health or life by selling it to the wrong people. So this isn't Asshole Design, it's ANTI-Asshole design; if you're not going to take care of your pets, then you don't deserve to have pets. And I agree with that.

The Tic Tac sugar thing actually hurt me when I was younger. I have a slightly fucked up metabolism, so too much sugar gives me headaches. But since Tic Tacs were supposedly "sugar free," I loved eating them . . . and then wondered why they gave me massive headaches.
It probably saved your life. Artificial sweeteners actually KILL you instead of just making you sick. I have diabetics in my family and all of them do testing. Weren’t you taught this? Makes me think this is just from a creative writing class

consuming too much dairy and red meat will give you diabetes, it's the saturated fat. my aunt was addicted to adding milk or cheese to everything, and cooked everything in animal fat.
Meanwhile my mom was a lactose intolerant sugar addict with a meat allergy and never got diabetes. My mom is overweight, they're both overweight tho.
what happened with them was they had less than a calorie of sugar and by the fda (or some health people) were approved as "sugarfree."

What’s even worse about printers wasting ink is that they put a tiny bit of cyan ink in even if you select black and white. And if one of the colors runs out, then the entire color cartridge just says that it’s empty. Keep in mind it costs them like 6 cents a cartridge
It costs them way more to manufacture a printer than they sell them at though. Most printers are sold at a loss, so it's kind of justifiable to try to recoup the money through the cartridges. But nothing can justify the 'Oh, I know you just want to print B/W but... cyan low. No print, buy new one.'
Here's a tip for printers who show you ads though, make sure you buy a used old printer that isn't "smart", there's literally no reason for your printer to get updates and other nonsense, you simply click "print" and that's its job

The Hub app permissions are actually used for managing devices - say a school district needs to administrate school issued iPads - it should never be used for personal devices (unless you're managing a lot of personal devices). Definitely wrong for the op to consent to installing it, but the app has its uses.

i was going to say, we have this app on my work phone, and its set up so that if the phone is stolen or goes missing, and someone tries to unlock it (other than me) setting off an alert, they can delete the data on the phone.
I work in healthcare, and have patient files on the phone. This file data includes names, birthdays, social security numbers, etc. Someone getting into my work phone is a very bad thing.
I remember our school used the hub app and they wanted to download the app on all the students’ personal devices. I deleted it right after the mandatory download.

When I worked for Papa John’s the drivers had to put all their tips in a bag after each delivery. At the end of shift it was equally divided among all drivers. Anyone who complained was given less hours and made to quit. This was only at my store not a company wide policy. Also, we were not given the “delivery charge”. The store manager would just pocket that.
Why is there always a token drug dealer manager, too? Every story from a former employee explains why the location shut down _the same way._

@@avamasquerade People assume otherwise because the company already gets well over 20 bucks an order most of the time and doesn't need the delivery fee, it's stupid they pocket the delivery fee because they already get the vast majority of profit from every single order, and considering it's their drivers delivering the food, the DELIVERY FEE, a fee put in place to pay for the manual labor of bringing the food or items to the customer, should theoretically go to the driver, right?
But nah, fuck those guys, they can live off of illegal wages that equate to somewhere around $5 an hour if they're lucky, the company, as a multimillion dollar corporation, needs those fees FAR more than the laboring worker ever could, how else are they going to line their pockets?

The "up to $15 an hour" part reminded me of my last job, where I made $15 an hour at a restaurant to do janitorial work, prepare food (That includes cutting the vegetables, chipping the fries, portioning all of the food and various other tasks), wash all of the dishes, deliver the dishes to their respective places, fill containers with dry produce such as flour, sugar, etc and then bring them to the basement, sort and pack the recycling, garbage and sludge (The compost, which I had to do by hand) in a toxic environment where I was treated like shit if I didn't do everything in absurdly short amounts of time, for example, I had to chip a bucket of fries, which is 50 pounds of fries, in less than 2 minutes (I was constantly threatened with being fired if I didn't meet this requirement), I was constantly harassed by my "managers", the waiters and the owner of the restaurant for doing my job in the safe and sanitary way because they preferred things to be done in a way that completely ruins the chances of the dishes and food being sanitary, if I was really unlucky as well, I got the closing shift, where I had to sweep, mop, and sanitize the entire kitchen and all of the equipment at midnight, I was not paid for overtime and I quit because they decided to force me to stay there after my shift ended to complete a series of tasks they specifically told me not to do because it was busy while berating me about how I'm "bad at my job". Keep in mind that I was the only person working there with a food handlers license, none of the chefs nor any of the other employees there had one.

I'm a student nurse and I worked in a care home for about a month as part of my degree and it was honestly shocking. They had to share 2 zimmer frames between about 20 residents on each floor, despite all the managers wearing gucci stuff and the managers office full of new gucci and Louis Vitton boxes. Nurses would repeatedly drop medication on the floor and just give it to residents and when we asked them why they just gave us a bullshit answer like they didnt have much stock and it took ages to order more, getting rude to us whenever we called them out and when speaking to the managers it was clear they didnt care. One of the residents died from an awful pressure sore from lying on a mattress and just being neglected it would have taken months for it to get as bad as it was. While working there the nurses would stare at us and whisper as if we knew too much but as student nurses nobody would listen to us. As much as I love nursing the social heirachy is just toxic not to mention unsafe but it happens everywhere we have to climb the ranks just to be listened to
That gas one is actually DANGEROUS because of how many carjackings and robberies happen at gas stations while people are filling their gas tanks.

For those unaware, most companies that allow you to access company data (emails etc) on your phone will REQUIRE you to install an app/rootkit that gives them full control over your device. The majority of fortune 500 companies require this. NEVER install said software. Obviously. But most people don't bother knowing what they agree to until they find themselves fired, their phone bricked, and all data gone.
Man I hate it when companies ask about people's sexuality. Like, if I owned a company I wouldn't be asking that because why should I care about your sexuality? There's only really four things I would look for in order to hire someone: 1, they're old enough to work at my company, 2, they haven't committed any illegal acts, 3, they're capable of working, and 4, they're able to do their job well. So as far as I'm concerned, your sexuality, race, religion, gender, etc, all have nothing to do with it.

For the dog eye drops... you pay for the amount of fluid... you aren't losing anything because there is air in the package. They are probably saving money by having a default/standard size tube to be used for multiple things they sell instead of making custom sized tubes for everything just so you can feel better about paying $60 for medicine by having a fuller but smaller tube.

OK, real quick, The "Keep baby turtle hydrated during shipping" thing is a test. If you're not willing to pay less than a dollar for the turtle's health and safety, the company will refuse your order.

To add to the home depot cactus with fake flower thing - Lowes did something similar. It wasn't even a plastic flower, it was made of straw or paper - it took a while to remove without hurting or being hurt by the cactus. It has taken several years for the cactus to recover - now you can't even tell that it'd had hot glue on top of it.

We just bought tickets and got charged so much just for "insurance" if anything were to happen we get the money back. It's ridiculous. Also was trying to sell an extra ticket (we got it for 35) ticket Master said similar seats were going for over $100 on resales. It was ridiculous

NO they don't the only way that happens is if the event organizer doesn't approve refunds for whatever reason. I just read their purchase policy on this and they always send you an email notifying you if your show is cancelled or delayed and how to proceed.

I purchased a container for jewellery making so I can separate my beads. However, with the container closed, there is a tiny gap between the lid and the sections so if I flip it over the beads cross contaminate. Therefore, I can only store it laying flat. Why can’t they just make the partitions touch the lid?
So you have to buy a very expensive relative to what you get extension pack that barely fits that will last a week that will break in the postage causing you to get a replacement that will take twice as long to arrive.
A thin piece of cardboard cut to fit in the lid works great. Trial and error taught me this.
we really need to push for laws that require exactly what is in any and all products with the tolerances like "this thing contains 5g of ingredient ±0.03g" kinda thing. and so much more...
ya they care when it's alcohol/thc (like kombucha or CBD products), but not for sugar/etc., even though sugar can have bad consequences for some people with certain health conditions. it really should be taken more seriously
So, just as a note (a very late note)...the plastic flowers are added by the nurseries that grow the cactus in order to make them more appealing to "non-plant" people. This was told to me by a nursery worker from Costa Farms (who grows a lot of plants you find in home improvement stores and other places).

Edit: For that minifridge one in which they charge 15 euros to empty it, I'd just unplug it and let it all spoil. Better yet, short circuit it so that way they can't blame me without irrefutable evidence.
Most state trial courts would throw it out immediately, or the jury would decide against you pretty quickly. Appeals probably wouldn't do any better.

I think there was a slight misunderstanding with the app. It only asked for admin rights, these allow the app to do these things but they often only use the rights for other stuff. There's also plenty of apps that request administrator rights without even using them. More dangerous are the apps that request access to contacts and sell your information, because resetting your phone and locking it doesn't have any actual use for them, also if you got the bill from purchasing the device they would have a lot more problems than they would like to have.

Whether they actually use the admin rights or not, forcing this is illegal. They cannot coerce you into giving up the rights to your property by threatening a loss of a job. They can fire you for this, but the very fact that they tried to force you to do this is illegal.

They hot glue fake flowers on LIVE CACTUSES at alot of places. Got a little cactus from Walmart and had a paper flower glued on top. Had to scrape it off with a hot razor blade burning and scarring it in the process. Worst part is that the ones on top are on the growing point and it can't grow without taking it off.

I remember when Geico made me call to cancel my insurance policy with them. One of the few times I've felt entirely shameless in lying to someone. Told the agent I just didn't need my car anymore and was planning on selling it, when in fact I just found something cheaper and decided to switch. They still wanted me to pay a couple of hundred bucks a month just to, oh I don't even know. Something about saving my status. Something about still having a consecutive history of being "with Geico" which was supposed to net me future benefits. I knew the agent was just doing what his boss demanded of him, so I was too polite to interrupt his spiel. I just tuned him out until he was done talking, then politely "informed" him I really was just going to sell the car and certainly wouldn't need a new one in the foreseeable future. Fuck Geico. Wish that guy all the best.

I have a huge fear of tornadoes and while playing a game, an ad for a weather app popped up and it read a tornado warning for my city. I started panicking and stupidly clicked the ad and it took me to a link to download the weather app before I could read the warning.
I opened the weather app I already had and there was nothing for my area so I was really upset they allowed ads like that.
I use weather apps I trust like Radarscope. Amazing app and I think you can allow it to message you if a warned storm is heading towards your area.

I know it looks bad for the dog eye medication having that much dead space in the tube, but as long as the declared weight of the medication preparation (which does not include the tube or cap) is as stated on the label, theres no foul play here. Phones can be rooted, which puts literally every function of your device under your control (as it should be), adblock and sponsorblock screen out literally every form of advertising you do not want, and literally everything being offered on a service can be downloaded for free from the pirate bay and sites like it. It's not as satisfying as ripping the liver out of ad designers and watching the life drain out of their eyes as their bleating for mercy fades to nothing, but bloodstains are such a hassle to remove from most fabrics.
I don't do this because it's fun, let alone easy. I do this so I stay out of prison. Even a few minutes of unprotected use on other people's devices when they come to me for help, is enough to remind me why I have no choice.

As someone who works for a service where tips are relied upon rather heavily (DoorDash), I can say-without hesitation-that tips are a blessing. I applaud anyone who does tip, because it only helps my bottom line in the end. I also tip as much as I can when I order out, knowing full well what those drivers and employees go through. With that said, however, Papa John's does NOT pay their people anywhere near what they fucking deserve. I used to work for them, and they make you bend over goddamn backwards just to get your paychecks sorted. I was almost always shorted at least five hours per check, EVERY check, for six months. It was bullshit, and I finally had to threaten them with a lawsuit.
All this aside, I agree that you SHOULD tip your driver. They're putting themselves and their vehicles in harms way, trying so hard to get you your food/sundries in a timely fashion. Be grateful to them and tip well. I do NOT, however, agree with PJ essentially demanding that a person tip, which is what they're doing. It's almost as if they're saying, "You're going to tip. Or else."
Tipping being expected is I'm guessing a US thing because labor rights seem to be mostly a joke over there. Being legally allowed to pay less because employees may get tips? Why the hell am I supplementing your income because your boss won't pay enough? Of course I let my staff accept tips because a little bonus as a thank you isn't bad, but I pay them a full wage because that's what you're supposed to do.. Employees shouldn't need tips, terrible system. And almost being held at gunpoint any time you go out because you have to tip.. I don't find that comfortable and it certainly doesn't increase the quality of my time spent there.
This is why i usually round up from the highest listed tip on delivery services, when they give me the option to do a custom tip. Especially because i tend to order late at night.

That Google Maps one reminds me of an issue I had with it a while back.
I'm a relatively inexperienced driver and get nervous about getting lost, so I tend to use Google Maps sometimes even though I know most of a route just to make sure I don't forget a turn or something. I would still want to take the route I'm used to, since I do know most of it and have an idea of what to expect, but Maps helps just to make sure I don't miss a turn or things like that.
So very fun time for me when I'm on the interstate, focused on driving, and Google Maps finds a faster route for me that takes a completely different way than I'm used to in order to save like 2-3 minutes of driving. It promptly tells me this and asks if I want to switch... while I'm driving... with the message that if I don't answer, it'll automatically switch to the faster route even though I chose my route when I started. Oh and, naturally, voice commands are disabled for this so you can't just say "No" outloud. Pick up your phone *while driving* to tap no, or have your route unwillingly changed.
Thankfully I know most of the route well enough that I could force it back to my original route by just ignoring the turns it was trying to get me to take, but as somebody who worries about stuff like this, the idea it can swap my route without my explicit consent is so ridiculous.
