1) Buy a 1000ml plastic beaker. It will be convenient. 2) Don't spray much on oil strainers, it may cause the rubber o-rings to become hard and fail. 3) After the old oil drains completely, tilt the bike first right, then left, then again left, again right, then move the wheel in neutral, so any left over oil stuck, get cleared completely. 4) Try to remove oil filler cap first, the draining will be much faster due to in line air pressure, than vacuum.
Thank you so much for the kind words😊 Regarding the greasing, I believe the places where you will find grease are: 1. Axel bolts of both wheels 2. Rear seat lock 3. Clutch and Brake lever anchor points. 4. Not normal grease but sillicon grease on battery terminals. And you need not grease them regularly, however you can top-up or add new grease during scheduled servicesz or before going on a long trip. For wheels axel I would suggest add grease if any work done in which you need to remove the wheels. Cheeers!!
Also I would add, use WD40 on all moving parts and exposed bolts after every wash of the bike. This will prevent rusting and unwanted noise from the bike. Thanks again for bringing this up, this would make a good video topic.
Yes.. fully synthetic is better, they use semi synthetic to keep the service cost/maintenance cost down. Not everyone especially in a country like India can afford expensive engine oil. Same is the reason for the longer oil change intervals. Benefits of fully synthetic which are visible to naked eyes are: 1. Smoother running engine. 2. Better acceleration and throttle response. 3. The engine runs cooler, yes this was the biggest change I noticed after switching the oil.
Hey, the Himalayan 450 has a different type of engine; it doesn't have tappets. Instead, it uses shims for valve clearance adjustment. Shims cannot be adjusted; they can only be replaced once they are past their service life, and this is a complicated process, so it's best to leave it to the RE service center. I'm assuming you're a new owner, and if the noise isn't too loud, I would suggest riding the bike for a while (at least 2000-2500 km), as most noises tend to fade away. However, if the noise is unusually loud or persistent, it's best to get it checked at the service center as soon as possible.
Yes, the O-rings should be replaced. However, it's not always mandatory unless they have become hard and are causing leaks. And In my case O-rings were replaced recently.
@@jaikinger28 Engine oil doesn’t directly affect mileage. However, if the engine runs smoother due to high-quality oil, there might be a slight improvement in mileage. That said, the difference is usually insignificant and not easy to quantify mathematically
Hello greeting from Malaysia, my bike almost reach 2k km but the engine oil look greyish, is there any harm to the engine? The service center recommend to change the oil every 5000km, and in my country it hard to find the genuine product for the RE, I want to try do it myself but lack of spare parts 🥲
Hey bro! No need to worry about the greyish color - it's totally normal. RE recommends the next oil change at 10,000 km, assuming you had your first oil change at the first service. As for parts, you can definitely try sourcing them online if they're hard to find locally. But if getting the parts becomes tricky, it's a good idea to leave those replacements to the service center. Not at all, just make sure you use what grade/specifications RE recommends. However if you talk to any RE service center they might say it voids warranty but believe me it wouldn't. They say to intimidate customers so they pay for their oil and labour nothing else. But yes if you make any mistake during the oil change and something gets damaged due to it, then they might not honor the warranty. However there will not be any way for them to prove you used some other oil until they send the burnt oil for lab testing and to be honest do you think they will go so far ? Most RE service centers don't even have a proper Torque wrench. But make sure all services are done by schedule at RE. This is the first thing they check for any warranty claims.

Hey bro, why haven't you changed the o rings . It's recommended by RE to change all the o rings whenever you change oil . You should not take that risk of not changing it if you haven't
Hello... No worries bro, O rings don't go bad in such a short span. They were fine in my case. And you would know in no time if they were bad, you will get oil leaks.
