Hey ben, I own a Himalayan 411. Im a bit skeptical about the engine oil change period. RE suggests to change the oil every 10k KMs but they are using a semi syntethic oil (liqui gun) and we know semi synthetic hardly last 2-2.5k KMs. This time i change the Liquid gun oil at 1.8k KMs and changed it to Liqui Moly 10w-50 (same grade as suggested by RE) full synthetic.
Cut an empty coke/soft drink can in half (length ways) and hold it under the oil filter cap while undoing it and you can redirect the spillage to the tray without making a mess 🙂
Damn!! The bike looks so clean, please make a video on cleaning and maintaining the motorcycle this clean, I am taking delivery of Kamet white this weekend 😉🙌🏼

Hello, Ben! I follow you on TH-cam and love your videos; I really appreciate your passion. I have a 2021 Himalayan, still completely stock, and I’m thinking about making some modifications. Considering that I use the bike both in the city and for traveling on high-speed roads, and I also want to do a bit of light enduro, my goal is to improve it to have a cruising speed around 100 km/h without feeling too many vibrations and keeping the RPMs a bit lower if possible. Do you think that by changing the air filter to a BMC/DNA and using a more open exhaust terminal, I can achieve this result? I wouldn’t want to lengthen the gear ratios since it would then be a problem for enduro and steeper climbs. I hope you’ll respond. Thanks.
Do you plan to show how the spark plug would be changed? Since it's water-cooled, I imagine the tank and the air filter box will have to be removed, quite a challenge compared to air-cooled R.E.s.
Hi Ben !! Regularly watch your vedios . I own a scram 411. While i was riding the horn automatically stopped working ..what could be the reason ? Is it repairable or do i need to get a new one ? Could you please share link if possible ?
You can pour it back into the empty cans and drop it off at the nearest service center. They will accept it gleefully since these oils are recycled to produce fresh oil and other lubricants.
@@ahanbapat8805 Manual mostly states the minimum required values. In that case, Himi450 is capable of running in semi synthetic itself, which is good to hear.

Hi Ben , i asked a doubt, RE guys say after draining the engine oil we need to fill 2.1L but i measured the oil after draining it was around 2.6L😢? So actually should i add more or leave it bro?
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I saw the whole video. In the video, you mentioned that you ran the engine, and then cooled it. Let it cool down for 20 minutes. But what I am trying to get at, is you need to change the oil when it is warm! The correct way of doing it is going for a good ride of 50+ KM, having hit 3/4 rev on the meter, and coming back. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes and then drain it at an optimum temperature of 60 to 70°. So that all the sludge particles and the impurities are still in mix and not resting somewhere in the engine. I am consulting you as an automotive engineer, please don't take it as a criticism, rather than feedback.

Change every 3-4 k kilometres if ridden everyday
Any oil
what about fully synthetic oils ? The packaging suggests a change interval of 6k KMs

hi a question. Is there an engine water temperature sensor on this model?
You don’t run the engine hot before draining the oil ?
Hi please share the link for the original royal Enfield engine oil and air filter for Himalayan 450.

10w30 dirt bike specific oil from Amsoil

better but always swap after the bike has run atleast 2000 kms .
