For me a convex is better for ALL wood work esp power cuts and notching . I also prefer a scandiVEX when it comes to feathersticking . BUT geometry is king , I my Benchmade Bushcrafter with a 19-18° edge makes killer feathersticks . The stock edge was probably around 22 to 25° it was like using a pocket knife . A $220+ knife that sucks out of box for wood work. I instantly reprofiled the edge and it works so much better . I'm now debating about convexing the whole thing BUT I don't know if I want the knife anymore so probably not. This last year I've found a few knives that have changed my views on what I prefer. I am not gonna spend over $200 on a knife ever again unless I buy an LT Wright . I am thinking about selling some knives to buy an LT blade . 😉
Great explanation with the meat!

I prefer convex also. It is easier to maintain for one thing, and is a stronger grind.
