This video is a great testimony to how much respect we all should give the American Farmer. Don't know how you physically, mentally and emotionally handle all the trials and tribulations. But I thank God that you do.
I could never be a farmer...can't deal with the stress and sleepless nights. My dad was a small time farmer and when his combine broke down it was a major deal, might be a few days before it was fixed, usually because it was worn out outdated equipment. Bad weather, too much or lack of rain, hail, low grain prices, massive debt, cash flow problems, worn out machinery, breakdowns, etc. finally took their toll on him...massive heart attack at 53yrs killed him.
I assure you, this farming outfit doesn't have half the problems of most farming outfits across the country. There was hardly anything in this video equipment wise older than 10 years old. These guys are rich as fuck.
Come from family of farmers on both my wife and my side. I am not a farmer but I appreciate you showing us how hard all farmers work. You are greatly appreciated for all you do. Thanks for inviting us into your world. Best of luck.
Thanks this means a lot coming from a sixth generation farmer who's family has been farming since the mid 1860's. Thank for recognize the handwork that the less than 2% of our population put in to feed the world on less acreage every year.
I agree! My knees and back are absolutely shot and I would still like to be a farmer for even just one day before my times comes. I could see myself at peace with the world waking up early in the morning knowing that my hard work and dedication was for the good of the people. A lot of jobs are pointless when compared to farming. Mad respect for all the farmers out there.
I miss farmers. Lot of great memories from childhood and our small family farms in SD and MN. Some of the most wonderful, down to earth people in the world.
You americans really know how to make those repairtrucks! Here in Europe its just vans stuffed with random tools. By the way, you have the best and most intresting farmtubing I have seen so far, keep up the good work!
Outstanding on a couple of fronts: (1) Getting the JD service people there quickly, having the right parts, and getting the machine back in service quickly, (2) Great attitude toward troubles. These troubles are bound in happen in some form, but response to them is what is important - "Just get it fixed so we can get back to work...." Those marching in the streets for 35 hr work weeks, not 40, those marching for !5/hr, etc need to follow the paths of several YT farmers. They could learn much! (3) Good video skills. Enjoy the channel...
What a testament to the constant planning and changing of plans of farming to deal with the unpredictable. Quite a testament to the resiliency of your family. Good to catch a glimpse of your dad on camera! Love the editing and the humor in your videos. Thanks for making them for us. Stay safe out there.
Have to take my hat off to guys who can work on a combine in the freezing cold and get it working again. I don't do it anymore but I was always on the corn cart or in the grain store. Loved that life.
I just watched this video again & it was amazing at the end to hear you thanking your viewers for 20,000 subscribers in November of last year & then look down 7 months later & see that you have just a about tripled your subscribers. I think that is well earned & I will be waiting to see you hit 100,000. Thanks for all the great videos.
just found your videos tonight (AWESOME) I know nothing about farming, I'm retired and really enjoy watching looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. good to see hard working people
Hate to see you're having problems but I know that's how it goes on any farm. Thanks for taking the time to share and I admire your calm demeanor. Not one cuss word when you rolled up on the lame combine! Impressive!
Oh the joys of farming. I farmed with my family for 27 years of my life. Just north of you up here in Manitoba. Back in '97 it was so wet the grain carts couldn't even get in the fields. I drove the combine up on the side of the ditch and was dumping in a truck that was parked on the side of a road. When I backed up I mistakenly backed the rear tire into a culvert and ripped off the entire axle. Same deal. Crippled in a ditch full with 4 ft of water. What I've learned is that if you can survive grain farming you can survive any other occupation with ease.
reminds me of back when we owned a snow cone farm. Talk about a lot of work for very little return. We switched to raising tumbleweeds, and life has gotten so much better.
Well aren't you just the smartest man in the world? I never mind when someone states the merely obvious like it's some sort of brilliant revelation. I do mind when they state the totally obvious in the same manner.
I love a good dry sense of humor. Mine is drier than most can handle. I hope the combine holds up good! I'll be in your state next Monday-Tuesday for work. I'm looking forward to driving around seeing the area in my off time!
Glad to be one of the 20k plus on your channel!! Great vid as usual and even more impressive to see those 2 guys getting you back up and running in less than a day! Keep up the great work and all the best from South Coast Ireland!
This is like watching Ice Road Truckers. You feel really bad when something goes wrong, but it’s very captivating. Nice video of your day. Thanks for sharing.
Good job man. I am brazilian and living in the USA for 7 months so far, I’m working in the farm in Hettinger ND. I like the way you talk, it’s easier than usual for me. I Watch all your videos to learn something more of farm stuff and study english too.
Great video my friend! Really enjoyed. Glad to see the combine rolling again, I couldn't believe they fixed it that quick. Stay safe out there and hope the weather holds out so you can finish!
400 acres left is only slightly funny because we used to make a great living on 400 acres total. A 4020 John Deere, a D19 Allis Chalmers and all 4 row equipment. But our days were just as long. Good job my friend, Live Strong.
Rawhide Adventures yes it’s to bad there couldn’t be 1200-1600 acre farmers across the country side like it used to be but those days are gone and the mega farmers are taking over
This goes to show you how important good service is. Amazing they got that fixed that fast. I've never used the bags either but our neighbors have been using them for many years for corn & they seem to work out pretty good for them. Good luck on the rest of your corn harvest.
Great vid. Those field mechanics are under rated. That's tough work getting out to a field working with large heavy machinery in the cold while the operator waits...and waits Thanks.
I just wanna say thank you to all of America's farmers. you provide us all with great food. the work and dedication you all put into it should pay off more. I wouldn't have a problem with paying a bit more for the food you all produce. again, thank you................
Man.... a lot of combine trouble this year from a lot of farmers. Doesn't matter the color either. A dry sense of humor is way better than none at all. You seem to handle everything well, and you must have one heck of a JD dealer nearby! Good job!
Michael Mac Tavish John Deere has a 24 hour thing in Minnesota. They are out right now for me 10:30 at night. They are fixing my unloading auger motor for going in and out. They figure will be another four hours of work.
@The Farming Life steers aren't too bad this year at all, but the heifers are substantially lower for our area, somewhere around $0.25/lb at least. @Farmer Cole do they charge extra for the 24hr service if after hours?
Seems like I heard of a MN family farmer won $1,000,000 in the state lottery......When asked by the local TV crew what they were goin' to do with all that money, the farmer replied, "Well, we're goin' to try to stay in business for one more year!"......kudos to the family farm.
Another farmer won $1,000,000 in another lottery and the reporter asked them what they were going to do. He said , "well, we have few bills that need to be paid. Maybe the seed bill, the fuel bill and bill at the local equipment dealer". The reporter said "what about the rest?" And the farmer said, "they are going to have to wait. It was only a million dollars!"
Glad the combine break down worked out. At first glance I figured that one was done for the rest of this season. We had to work steep hillsides. A break down like that could have been real bad with a full grain tank. Congrats on the 22K subs.
I saw a video on RFD-TV of a huge African grain storage facility. They have 250 acres covered with grain bags. They said like 275,000 tons or 9.9 million bushels of corn! Wowzers! I'm glad you got your combine back up & running "quickly".
Great video. Really enjoyed it. I think o commented on your insta or fb post about the combine. Seen the same thing happen to a case except he was going down the road in road gear we spent a day flagging traffic around him and patching the groves in the ashpalt it made. That guy was lucky he got it stopped right before it would of went over the edge of a steep borrow pit along the highway. I just re watched this congrats on 20,000 and now your almost at 500,000. Your the best farm channel I have seen keep up the good work I have been watching you since early 2018
We are a few miles north on the Canadian side. Able to do 4.1 miles an hour with a 8 row on a 9500. 700 acres in 14 days. Done for the year. Great video
Wow, that was an amazing ride you just took us on. I was sick to my stomach at the sight of the broken combine and excited when it looked like it might get fixed. If I knew the John Deere repairmen were that good in this area, I might have to switch colors. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great video! I live about 45 minutes or so from you and have the pleasure to experience the same weather and watch the harvest around me go about the same as yours has...
Ikr!? It used to be really hard to grasp that area size, but then I spent 5 14 hour days working on a field this fall. You can build a small town on 400 acres!
Hey buddy. You sure do have a dry sense of humour. You had me good and proper when you said about going to prison. Love the videos and learning about what you do.
If i didn't already know that the Deere crew got paid handsomely for the job, I'd say they should be given a medal. Glad you were able to have the combine back online same day.
To bad about the combine. I cracked up on your $30.00 tie rod. I laughed and thought, yeah right, maybe the tax is 30 dollars. You are a true Farmer, great attitude, when things go to crud, you didn’t lose your cool, just have to get it fixed. Glad it came together as quick as it did.
Funny, I've been around farms all my life and have never had the opportunity to participate in the day to day operation and everytime I watch this I regret never taking the time to learn. You are a very fortunate man. Most people would never even think about where most of there food n grain comes from much less want to farm it themselves. May fortune smile apon You and your family during the coming cold spell these next years.....JL
Just don't let a cable TV show take it over...they'll turn it into a steaming pile of docudrama crap. "If he doesn't get the combine fixed by sundown, they could potentially lose the farm!!!"
J Huck im sure the repair bill by JD about made him go bankrupt lol. What's an emergency call cost? $500 to get the truck on site and $150 a man hr per man?
Haven't watched this video yet but come on everybody let's get it together on this channel man this has been viewed 151 times and you've only got 11 thumbs up come on everybody those thumbs up means a lot let's help this brother out man he's too good of a dude not to support him all the way
20,000 subscribers back then, and now less than two years later (October 12, 2019) you have 338,000 subscribers. Congrats on several jobs well done. :)
Thanks for the video. Here in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania Harvest is on a standstill. Wet ground wet corn. This has been a very interesting year for most farmers. Have a great evening
The Farming Life I was just talking to a guy an hour ago and we were saying how it sounds like the entire us is dealing with the same struggles right now
This video is a great testimony to how much respect we all should give the American Farmer.

I would say every farmer in the world, even.

20,000 subscribers in this video... now 712,000 subscribers... You've come a very long way Zach, love your channel and what you do!
Technology is amazing. Back in the day we didn't have sensor to tell us the axle was broken! 😂
I remember no air conditioning. These guys quit when the A/C doesn’t work..
you did have a sensor. It was your lower back going OUCH when you got kicked hard by the vehicle bottoming out ;)
I guess the sensor was in the seat, we knew pretty quick

My dad has almost 600 acres in Alberta. This show makes me wish i lived out there and learned how to do it. He rents it out to the neighbours.
My cousin and his sons farm. I find this channel very informative.

MegaJohnhammond I can see that. Makes sense.
The broken body panel adds character. "Battle Scars"

So, how often do you get to sleep in?
TheBertjeT I don't know a farmer that sleeps in. Especially in Harvest
TheBertjeT I have 4 kids on top of the farming. I haven't slept in since 1996!
MN Millennial Farmer You should try it sometime. It's pleasant ;)
Seems like all they do it sleep trying to combine and plow in the snow
Thanks for the video. Here in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania Harvest is on a standstill. Wet ground wet corn. This has been a very interesting year for most farmers. Have a great evening
