      i thought so too @ 1st , but from
certain angles i thought i saw
glimpses of Blue on the TOP
      surface , @ 8:28 .
      • Some of those pucks ( various
      manufacturers ) have additional
white LEDs ( tho sometimes the
matching blue or amber color )
on the TOP surface as a "flashlight"
mode . It may have just been in
      the wrong mode.
      • The early-model ones i have
      don't have that , but you cycle-thru
      7 different patterns ( including
      constant-ON )

@@clivehorridge Too much of a hurry to toss it out and forgot to turn it on, but at least he got the orange one sorted before he tossed both.
I've had one for many years and they are brilliant, as they also have a recharging facility if you insert rechargeable batteries - unlike the alkaline one's I currently have had in mine, for some 15 - 20 years now - (and they're still usable as the LED's take very little current to operate).
I recently discovered an auction on Trade Me (a New Zealand, Australia - and looks like it's going all over the world now too - that started life as a local auction website), some six & eight pack toolboxes, that are fully rechargeable from the vehicle's electrics or from general household power, but as I am not into much driving now that I have a wheelchair & prosthetic leg etc., I haven't bought a pack yet, which I think everyone should look into getting, if doing a lot of snow & ice - high country &/or deep-inland off-road driving...
      ie:
      Such as this Six Pack:
      www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/safety/listing/4542002361
Many different websites have a lot of varieties, but they all do the same single thing, they alert other drivers to a roadside crash or accident site, or other "on-&-off" road driving hazard, long before they arrive at the actual site.
I've even put them on top of cars I have long-rope flat-towed, as well as on top of my own "A-Framed second vehicle", that I (as a single / on own driver) needed to tow somewhere or to bring back, without driving it myself.?
How does one person drive two vehicles eh ??
So yeah, I made my own A-Frame away back in 2002 when I bought a 1996 Delica 4wd Van - and still had my smaller (1st Gen Delica) Colt T-120-Y flat-deck truck, that I frequently flat-towed via A-Frame, around the farm colleting gates and or firewood etc., or flat-towed it for miles at a time - getting stuff from here to there & back again, just because I could..
My longest trip was in late 2003, when I flat towed it all the way to (AND BACK FROM), a sawmill in Tapanui, West Otago NZ, (taking the shortcut over the top of the Moa Flat hills) where I overloaded it with about 1.5 ton of macrocarpa beams etc, when we did our major house alterations here in Roxburgh, with the Colt, (no one inside) being A-Frame flat towed behind the Delica 4wd Van, after being fully bedded down onto it's suspension blocks, and with the over inflated tires, almost running flat?
I dragged that sucker there and back without a sweat as if it were a mere trailer, as that was what I used it as, long enough with front to back load bars to sit it all upon.
I have a video somewhere (on my main channel via www.L84DNR.co.nz ) that displays the old 1978 Colt - as I sold it here back in March 2017 ?
      Gezzsh all that long ago...
And it still ran - with no maintenance done.

Always love my Recovery lessons on here! You are an amazing teacher, Casey! The Zacklift......what an amazing machine and addition to your business and the channel!
The ice is horrendous for sure! I live in Tillamook and we were out hauling milk everyday in it. my trailer slid off the road when the road banked and the ice was so slick, we couldnt make it up to the tractor to climb back inside. You had to throw yourself across the ice to make any headway. Great episode, casey!

A little trick I was taught in the army with all D shackles and pullies was to snug up and slightly crack it. This will stop them from tightening under strain.

@@CaseyLaDelle And why is the army wrong? Ive been doing it for over 20 years with no binding up on recovery gear and will continue to do so. Im sure the army has been doing it longer than you. if you are going to put someone's suggestion down without an explanation, you should elaborate. Placing a recovery hook facing down will cause it to dig in or grab on anything it passes over. This is wrong. Dont do that.

The shackles are meant to be tightened, if you leave slack in the bolt, under full load allows the shackle to deform. Pin keeps it from deforming, that's why the pin has a flat with a hole, you are supposed to use a tool to remove them if they tighten

    • @TassyDeval
      @TassyDeval 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@joshmoe3680 Another 1 that knows better than the teaching of a transport unit in the army. I never once said loosen it, just crack it. I did that for my 20 years in the army and never ever deformed a shackle and never needed to use another tool to undo it, so you do what u think and Ill continue to do what Ive proven to do that works.
