that is exactly why I have a travel trailer I personally think its a better option I will never get an RV too risky ...you can replace a truck but an RV with problems is just not worth it
Fyi a travel trailer is an rv. So is a 5th wheel, pop up, truck camper, class a, class b, class c. Know what your talking about. Google it. RV is a Recreational Vehicle.
You needed to do what was best for you and your family. It is your journey. Thanks for the honesty, it is refreshing. If you are meant to be back out there, it will happen again some day. In the mean time you have some great memories. Thanks for sharing :-)
I just started watching your videos and I wanted to tell you how impressed I am! I find it so refreshing where some people would have told their story with a blaming "poor me" tone, you have chosen to move forward with positivity and strength. It's a great example for your children--and the world--that how you decided to respond to adversity by learning more, surrounding yourself with people who care about you and staying positive will serve you well in the days and years to come. I wish you and your family love, peace and success!
I am excited that your hubby is training to become a pipefitter. My father provided an excellent life for our family as a pipefitter. You can work anywhere. Good luck on your adventures!
Was also curious why the channel went quiet and if everything was ok. It's great you still had a positive experience with the time you got to travel, definitely was worth it!! Thanks for the update!
Best of luck and good thoughts for you and your family! Listening to you heart is always a good idea. Thank you for your generosity in sharing this. So many people go through this kind of struggle with deciding to make a big life change. Your gift encourages others and will continue to do so for years as people come across this video. Take care!
welcome home. life is a journey and I'm glad you gained memories and friends from this leg of yours. maybe you'll do it again, maybe not, but you had the courage to chase your dreams! congrats on exploring another lifestyle!
Your experience with an RV is why I am looking to purchase a used school bus and build it into an RV. This way we will be able to build it so suit our lifestyle, which we would have to remodel whatever we would buy anyway.
I just found you after watching a lot of people van living and RV living. I'm older and thought I may be interested. It's good to hear about all sorts of experiences. It's so disappointing to by something with expectations that you're getting what is being 'advertised." I realize it can cost a lot to repair a large vehicle like that so that is a consideration. Glad your husband is finding his new work fulfilling. Sounds like you've got some good plans. I look forward to seeing more of your journey.
Thank you, it is great that you have an open mind!! No one size fits all, learn from as many people as you can, most importantly learn by doing it your self :)
I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out as planned. However, the fact that you looked at the situation objectively and are taking time to regroup is such a smart decision. Keep looking forward. Who knows what the future may hold
Better to have tried something than never to have tried at all. I really enjoy your videos and your family. Follow your heart Jackie I think you are right. Get financially straight and then work out what you want to do for your next adventure (I am sure there will be one). Health and happiness to you and yours.
Thanks for all your videos. I don't have to worry about buying the right RV/Travel Trailer anymore. Now, I'm just going to rent a TT & pull it with my truck.
To Bad Jackie.. That was an older RV and bound to give you a nightmare of problems. You did try it....and failed but you had the guts to at least try and do it... I am glad your safe and able to start again. I do wish you the best in your journey.. Take Care.
Yup.... remember...with RVS ..get them checked over by a reputable shop and I wouldn't buy one over 10 years old. Even new ones are prone to problems and an owner must be familiar with all the systems and be able to repair things or the costs will be outrages. Good Luck and I hope you can be successful in your quests..
some of the most important things you can do in life is follow your dreams, take risks, and trust your gut. You did all of the above while simultaneously learning a new level of problem solving, new skills, seeing family and exploring. Pulling all that off without spending any more than you would have just living in an apartment is awesome. Improving the job situation is an extra bonus :-)
it's all about your channel name enjoying life Journey. doesn't have to be in an RV. life is about learning and doing what you love. keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next videos
I'm sure that was a frustrating heartache. But you had some great experiences. My first try to RV was a complete bust. Long story, but it never rolled out of the yard. Now a year and a half later, have decided to live out of a van this time. Am almost 70 - single with one dependent (my little dog) - Plan to SAVE-SAVE-SAVE and minimalize until January to start our next adventure. Sounds like you have really regrouped well, and come out on top! You are very pleasant and informative to watch and your followers will likely stick with you. Wishing you much success and happiness!
You did the right thing by listening to your gut. Everything is a lesson. We learn and move on. The next chapter of your life will be great. I'm a new subscriber.
Glad y'all made it back home safely but sad that y'all won't be traveling any longer. Me and Lawrence were looking forward to meeting up with you guys at the Sugar Beet Harvest again this year, but totally understand your situation. Hopefully acquiring a new rv (travel trailer/ fifth wheel or truck camper) will be in y'alls future plans and y'all will be able to continue living this lifestyle. Also glad to hear Ricky got a good job now! Good luck with everything, tell Ricky and the girls we say hi, and y'all keep in touch! Megan and Lawrence
Aww Megan we miss you guys!! It was so much fun hanging and caravaning a bit with you guys!! We were looking forward to the Sugar Beet Harvest as well. We are still signed up to go and were talking about maybe head out with a rental truck camper or something...who knows :) We will keep in touch either way!
So sorry the RV didn't go at this time. Enjoyed watching you and the talk about books. Am working on the first baby step at this time. Love his advice. Gonna check out your minamalist apt next. Will be waiting for more videos. Thanks from Texas for posting.
I can't imagine how difficult of a decision this was for you and your husband. My husband and I know tough decisions like this--I feel you girl! I love all of the positivity that is coming from this though!
Thumbs up from me. You know, congratulations with keeping your cool and making smart decisions as a family. I watch too many videos of young people who should be following your example. Instead they cry and moan about their hardships on the road - while hoping for handouts and donations. Good luck to you!
Sorry to hear that your RV turned out to be a lemon :( It looked good and you did so well remodeling it. And yes, many underestimate the costs of full timing, not saying you did, but well, unexpected repairs can be very nasty on your budget. Congrats and best of luck going forward concerning your husband's new job!
Any of the "cheese books". My favorite was Fish (tales)? and Fish sticks, as I have read those. even if you are not working, there is a lot of ideas that might work in personal or home life. The Fish book I read in one day it was so good. Was set it Pikes Fish Market in Seattle.
You might want to look up "positive affirmation" or just "affirmation" but "positive affirmation" is the best! I learned this a long time ago and it is what the creator of Dilbert credits his success to. Read about him on Wiki. Don't just read about affirmation - study it, it is life changing.
At least you tried, you would have both regretted it if you hadn't given it a go. The RV sounds like a money pit and you have to listen to your instincts and make the right decisions for your family. Everything happens for a reason and it's great that Ricky is doing so well.
You guys are great... real, honest, salt of the earth people. I was wondering where you were but no big deal in my opinion, life happens. I'm not going anywhere as a viewer just because you're shifting gears in your life's journey. The only thing I'm actually mad about is that by driving a faulty RV vehicle they possibly endangered your lives! Is there any way you take them to small claims court? I'd look into it if I were you. It might be worth the trouble and you possibly could be compensated for all or at the least part of the money put into it. I hope those deceiving RV hustlers understand that you reap what you sew in life. I know I don't have any questions at this time but take care... I look forward to more of your life's journey. xo
Thank you Beth for sharing your feelings on the issue. Honestly I am over everything, the RV's sold, gone don't want to let it take up anymore of my time, emotions, and all that jazz :)
When you don't like something, anything looks like enough reason to finish it. Unless you are dealing with a lemon RV, the cost of fixing something should not exceed the ones for a house (There are also lemon houses). RV living is not for everybody and not always places that you visit will be pretty places. But that it is part of the RV living, the adventures. But ones have to honest and understand is not for he, she, them. Great life for you and your family.
Thank You for sharing Mac. I agree it is not for everyone. We would still be out there if the RV was not causing so many issues, financially and emotionally. We did learn that if we are to go back out we will have a different set up for sure.
You handled the full time dilemma very well! Besides, there's always the future. I think a fifth wheel might be a good choice "next time" 😉! Glad to see you back with lots of good content !
Thank you, we did agree we would do a fifth wheel or even a truck camper in the future if we go back out. So many places we wanted to go that the Class A was to large for.
I rhink y'all did great! It has been said that RVs are like boats in that the happiest days for their owners are the day they buy them and the day they sell them! Also, I can attest that the RVing bug doesn't go away when family needs mean you have to give it up for a while. That little bug just goes into its cocoon and stays there until you retire when it emerges as a beautiful butterfly to brighten your journey as long as you can see to drive or find someone to do the driving for you! I know this because my family and I spent several weeks each year van camping and sometimes living in our van for summertime church conferences. We also took two to three week long trips all over the midwest and the Southwestern states for several years. I had to give that up when I moved here and had to support my daughter and myself and then married again. My late husband and I enjoyed pop-up camper traveling from Florida up to Pennsylvania and all over Ohio and Indiana to Chicago and then meandering down through Illinois, southern Indiana, Tennessee and back home by way of the "western" route down the eastern side of the Mississippi River and slowly across Florida. WE took a couple of months to do it and loved every second of it even in the small tent camper (which, incidentally, we tarped and fixed to be bone dry even in a West Virginia thunderstorm) we were quite comfy with our two big beds, a table, our propane camp stove and our porta-potti! Now, as a widow of 11 plus years, my RV travel butterfly is ready to go again! I will have to see if I can pass the DMV's eye test from my doc now that I have my new cataract free lenses and my ARMD has, hopefully, slowed down enough for Doc to OK me for a year, hopefully two, of driving. If I can get that license, it will be onward and upward to someone to purchase a used RV, probably a class B or a high top van camper. Then it is time for any kitty friendly renovations or additions so that Little Kitty, my 12 year old feline roommate can travel with me and be safe and comfortable doing it and we're off to explore the country, slowly and visit family and friends in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado and California. I will be scouting property and such as we go and doing a little online marketing too.
Ellen L Johnson Amazing story, a life well traveled for sure, thank you for sharing! Good luck with your health, license and getting back out there with your kitty!!
About to RVING in 2019 with pensions age 60-58. Now I can use your help ? You said your intuition said no more money in the RV .....did you have any intuition at the start ......or did excitement block you from your intuition ?
Bruce Lee, I am confused. Are you asking the intuition question of the person in the video or of me? For what it is worth, I didn't see much intuition in their decisions. They seemed to be far more based on economic realities. They bought an old RV and fixed it up i.e. what they could afford to do to make their dream a reality. They had their adventure and when they stopped RVing full time they did so based on financial considerations, not intuition. I think they showed great good sense and proper decision-making skills. As for my RVing going forward, my decisions will also be based on my needs and my financial resources as well. A dream without the reality of the finances to make it come true must remain just a dream, and inspiration to get the money needed to bring it to fruition.
Sorry I gapped out there ....I was asking her because her gut said it was time to stop putting money in the lemon RV. I wondered about any gut feelings when buying it. I would like to hear about the purchase .....not the seller's name....but looking back did this guy give any clues that he had things to hide? I know they didn't have the $ 160.00 an hour to have it inspected and I got burnt on a car at their age with tar and newspaper covering the holes in the body.....LOL Anyway, we will RV my wife and me in 2019 on $ 50,000 a year early retirement. I have crunched the numbers and RV'ers tend to need at least $ 1,600.00 a mon US money or 20,000 -22,000 minimum per year.
BRUCE LEE great question. when be bought the rv everything seemed good. We even had a friend who works on cars take a look and do maintenance. unfortunately it wasn't until we put 600+ miles on it that the problems started showing. We had plenty of money to live off but underestimated the price of repairs and the frequency of them. My only advise is don't get anything older than ten yrs and if it sat for awhile have the gas tank checked for rust. Also have a repair budget no matter what.
Zachary Gates I will still be doing budget videos but in a quarterly layout not monthly. I will also have some more on personal finance every now and then.
Yes, I am doing them at least every quarter. I already did this quarter's video, budget for April, May and June, here: th-cam.com/video/3lLyeXPC49U/w-d-xo.html
I have friends in Mesa . Nice town . To dry for me . Glad your reading those books. Check out Zig Ziegler "See You At The Top. " He was a friend of mine and he lived what he wrote .
I would recommend that you deal with a local independent agent . Keep your coverage separate from each other . Term Life is good but make sure the term rate is guaranteed . Example if you purchased a Term policy for 20 years the rate does not change also for 20 years. On renters go for a set dollar amount deductible not a percent . Video your apartment ,get and keep receipts for the purchase of anything that would be replaced. Ask for home away coverage. If your apartment burned home away would pay for a hotel per night including food and dry cleaning. If your in a flood plane buy flood insurance . On auto make sure you have uninsured and under insured coverage , this means if someone hit you without insurance and it is their fault your uninsured would pay . Roadside I would see about getting AAA . Be careful how many companies you get rates from they hit your credit rating every time you ask for a quote .
"Life's a dance, you learn as you go! Sometimes lead, sometimes you follow....". 🙂 Thanks for sharing your story!
Kitty Quick Thank you, great quote!!
that is exactly why I have a travel trailer I personally think its a better option I will never get an RV too risky ...you can replace a truck but an RV with problems is just not worth it
Jasminn Navarroo I agree now that we have experienced it first hand.

Follow your heart and intuition. It is usually a great guide.
Good luck and hope you get back on the road one day soon.
Thank you Steve!

Hi Jackie, I'm a new viewer and neighbor in Gold Canyon. Love the book idea! Best to you and your family!
Thank you, Kathy, and nice to meet you, neighbor. :)
It has been a pleasure watching your adventure. Sorry it ended up this way. Will still be looking forward to more posting!
Jeffrey Potter Thank you, it has been nice to have you join us along this journey. Always look forward to your comments!
Good call. You can go travel again after the children are grown.
Pipefitting is a great career. Hang in there! Best wishes.
Thx Tom, Ricky is really liking this new career path. We still plan on traveling a bit with the kids but not full time :)
Your experience with an RV is why I am looking to purchase a used school bus and build it into an RV. This way we will be able to build it so suit our lifestyle, which we would have to remodel whatever we would buy anyway.
Bus conversions are great! We met several people with them on the road!!
I'm impressed at how mature you are. A subscriber looking forward to more videos
Thank you I have come a long way ;)
I just found you after watching a lot of people van living and RV living.
God bless and good luck. Sincerely wishing you well. Keep life simple.
Thank you!!!
I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out as planned. However, the fact that you looked at the situation objectively and are taking time to regroup is such a smart decision. Keep looking forward. Who knows what the future may hold
Hannah Carmona Dias Your right, who knows, that's the best part!:) Thank you!
Better to have tried something than never to have tried at all. I really enjoy your videos and your family. Follow your heart Jackie I think you are right. Get financially straight and then work out what you want to do for your next adventure (I am sure there will be one). Health and happiness to you and yours.
Heather Mayfield Thank you, yes there is always another adventure!
Thanks for all your videos. I don't have to worry about buying the right RV/Travel Trailer anymore. Now, I'm just going to rent a TT & pull it with my truck.
Your welcome, sounds like a good idea :) Safe travels!!

Great tips, thank you for the support through our journey from the beginning!

Pulling all that off without spending any more than you would have just living in an apartment is awesome. Improving the job situation is an extra bonus :-)
Thank you and I agree 100%! Even though I was very sad/mad when dealing with it I have to look at all the good that came out of it!!
RVing certainly has its challenges and rewards even with a new RV. We will be heading out on a two month trip soon. It is all about the journey!
Absolutely, enjoy your trip!!
Thank you. I love being in my RV and exploring the country. It's my happy place. :)
it's all about your channel name enjoying life Journey. doesn't have to be in an RV. life is about learning and doing what you love. keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next videos
Thank You sooooo much for the encouraging words!!
Just Take 10 I agree. It was so amazing to watch you guys take risks and actually live how you wanted to.
Thank you Colorsof Avon!

Kathy OGorman You are absolutely right, thank you and welcome!

So sorry the RV didn't go at this time. Enjoyed watching you and the talk about books. Am working on the first baby step at this time. Love his advice. Gonna check out your minamalist apt next. Will be waiting for more videos. Thanks from Texas for posting.
Awesome on working baby step one!! You got this!! Thanks for joining us on this journey!
Missed you guys!
Nicole Walters thank you, feels good to be making videos again.
I can't imagine how difficult of a decision this was for you and your husband. My husband and I know tough decisions like this--I feel you girl! I love all of the positivity that is coming from this though!
Everyday Axness Thank you!
Good luck in the future. It's tough that you had to give up the Rv, but it sounds like you will be in good shape.
Thank You!
Thumbs up from me. You know, congratulations with keeping your cool and making smart decisions as a family. I watch too many videos of young people who should be following your example. Instead they cry and moan about their hardships on the road - while hoping for handouts and donations. Good luck to you!
GentlemanJim Thank you, I agree I've seen the same thing. Everyone has choices and can overcome anything if they take a moment to think it through!
TinfoilHatGirl Thank you, yes repairs killed our budget. We had a good plan going in :)
Pretty sad story. I'll take the information you've provided and apply it to my own life's decisions.
Thank You, this is exactly why I share our life lessons. If I can help people learn from them I have done my job!!
Watchin ya on the road. Lifes painful journeys not so joyfulness.
:) It'n not about if the journey itself is painful or joyful, its about enjoying the overall journey of life!!
I'm sad to hear your RV was becoming a money pit, but I think you guys did great by figuring out it was time to reassess the situation!
Thank you, I knew you would understand being another person into personal finances!! :)
Appreciate your page and work ethic sooo much Thanks for this video. Wishing your family The Best of Luck ::))

Mungo Lewis Thank you I believe that as well!
I don't blame you tho! I think if it had been a new rv, you would have had allot more fun! I enjoyed your videos for real!
Thank you, yeah we said we would still be out there if it wasn't for all the RV issues.

Thank You, I have missed making videos for you all!!
Keep following your dreams, if you had the same dream every night, it would get boring. Your next adventure will be wonderful.

now and going sailing and don't have to buy fuel all the time.
Waterfront sounds amazing!!
you can always get a newer one down the road
Yeah, if we get back out we will prob go with a truck and 5th wheel or trailer. :)

I know they didn't have the $ 160.00 an hour to have it inspected and I got burnt on a car at their age with tar and newspaper covering the holes in the body.....LOL
Anyway, we will RV my wife and me in 2019 on $ 50,000 a year early retirement.
Will you still be doing budget monthly videos? Keep going and enjoying life's journey.
Zachary Gates I will still be doing budget videos but in a quarterly layout not monthly. I will also have some more on personal finance every now and then.

If you ever have questions on insurance let know 43 years full time agent
I am actually looking for a new ins company, wanted to bundle, car, roadside, renters and add term life. Do you deal with these?
Jack Brown thank you so much Jack, great information and tips!! I appreciate it.
Get a more modern RV save money work for a while and buy something decent you will enjoy your journey more.
Ray Sater great tip, thank you!
Subbed
:) Thx and Welcome
Just goes to show my first comment was accurate.
:) You were right for sure. It was a fun adventure and a great life lesson!!
At least your marriage is still intact.....
lol That's the truth. Surprisingly after dealing with everything and bouncing back it has brought us closer together.
That didn't last long
Six months may not seem that long to some, yet it is longer than those that have not tried it at all ;)
Has anyone ever told you you look like the actress Lisa Kudrow? ;-)
No one has ever told me that before, I can see a little bit of a resemblance. Thank you :)
You only need to read 1 book it's called the bible.
Ray Sater Thank you for your recommendation!
