  • Today I give 3 main reasons I switched my ADHD medication from Adderall Instant release 45-50mg to Vyvanse 30-40mg, as well 3 mistakes I made in the beginning that caused the Vyvanse to not be as effective. Thank you for the support, much love.

    I was finally diagnosed correctly about a year ago at 37. I'm visiting another country to refill my meds each month because in a country where I live now ADHD is not a thing at all, even Stratera is not legal. So everyone who is really struggling with ADHD and thinking about trying or not meds I think definitely should consider this option. From my case perspective, I can only imagine what could have I achieved in my life if I could get meds earlier... P.S. I'm not a doctor and I'm not agitating anybody to get on meds and sorry for my English - I'm not native. And thanks for sharing your experience!

      @@EnjoyingLifesJourney Thank you! Hope your switching to the Vyvance will be smooth and won't get long, adjustments or so!

      Thanks for sharing your story, i'm in the process of getting treatment. Hearing your story about how you travel to a different country to get medication as your current country does not accept, makes me feel more better about having to pay for treatment instead of waiting on free healthcare which would be most likely detrimental to my future as the waiting list is too long. Thank you 😊

      Same, age 37 but in Norway we get Vyvanse thankfully. Sad to hear about your situation, hope it will get easier for you soon.

      Thank you Allen for sharing. I can relate to that feeling of "How would my life be if I had treatment sooner?" Wishing you the best in your journey.

    I know the experiences too the meds didn’t seem to work well either meaning I get negative side effects only as if I took pills with side effects as the mechanism of action. There are
    Times were they would work but that’s like maybe 2 -3 days in the week at the
    Most and when they do work it’s 2 hours to 3 hours at max. That’s it I can’t explain it either but I’m thinking I must have a stomach or intestine problem I don’t know about because they don’t really work

      It's going great, I'm on 40mg of Vyvanse now. I'm so happy my Dr changed me from adderall. It's a lot smoother and last all day. Glad to hear adderall works good for you!

    Hi, do you drink coffee or anything caffeinated while on meds? If so, do you experience any negative effects like anxiety, chest tightness etc.

    • @EnjoyingLifesJourney
      @EnjoyingLifesJourney  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't normally drink coffee. I will have tea or soda sometimes but not after 1pm or I'll have a hard time falling asleep. No other negative effects.

    You didnt mention how it affected your enjoyment for boring stuff. Did it help with excitement for anything.

      Yeah, it brought back that "something" I was missing. Which is enjoyment to do things and to interact with people.

    I have a difficult question. How is your marriage effected by having adhd? My wife has been diagnosed with adhd and has taken Adderall for about a year now. When she's on Adderall and I'm with her I really see the difference and it's great. When it wears off (pretty much when she comes home from work) it's like nothing has changed. Anyway, it's been really frustrating and I've even looked into support groups for spouses of those with adhd. So anyway, how's he been through the diagnosis and journey?

      Great question Darin. My husband and I have been together going on 14yrs and I have only been treating my ADHD with medication for the last 6months, so he has had a long time to get used to me unmedicated. I am very fortunate that he is open to my treatment and we talk about it a lot. There was a few weeks when treatment wasn't working and made things worse and he noticed it and we talked about it. This helps me in deciding when to try something else. He has also gone with me to my Dr to hear her input and as I learn more about ADHD so does he. In return he understands me more and I understand how my untreated ADHD affects my family. It's been eye opening and I have been working on my communication skills and emotional regulation. All I can suggest is talking openly with her about what's working/helping and what's not. Then suggest she shares this with her Dr. A good Dr will guide her to the right medication and dose. Hope this helps, wishing you the best!
