I have a 2001 showroom mint limited same color, 7.3, 110k on her, always garaged, stays garaged all winter. The suspension is as shiny as the top side.., zero rust! Love it!
This one was bought in October of 2000, its an 01. By my family, its been loved and enjoyed ever since... but wish we could have not driven it like yours! 340K on it.
@@Geeks4x4 I served 35 years in the military, so it sat while deployed which helped keep the miles down. 4 big kids & towed a boat, and trailer do to always moving. Summer wagon now, keep her cherry!! Enjoy yours!!
Nice video and good information. Another thing to point out is the rear vent windows operation, this was something I missed when I got mine and the driver side does not open and will need a motor replacement (already checked and confirmed it is not just stuck shut).
There are some companies like Custom Autos By Tim, a couple Excursion companies in Miami, and MegaRexx that are trying to keep the Excursion in production
Just picked up an 00 Excursion and everything your saying is right on, though also, check the exhaust pipe, found that mine suffered some off road damage and was only hanging on by one hanger (heard a loud banging on one occasion and went to investigate, only found it after I kicked the tailpipe, I'll probably try and redo the entire exhaust as I bet the manifolds also need some eventual work. Though for the price and it's condition (I've only found a few, mostly very minor issues, and one door rocker rusted through) I've considered it an excellent bargin (minor surface rust in all other areas, easy enough to treat). That oxford white optimistically has a year or two before it'll require a major commitment, and I can see (basically everywhere) where the other two owners tried multiple different methods to attack it, i.e. white out in addition to paint in some spots. Maybe I'm kind of a goof but I'm almost tempted to get the truck painted like a Jurassic Park explorer, it already feels the part. Right now I've been preforming a much needed radiator flush as it had the original coolant (smelled strongly of glycol but looked like 10 year old brake fluid), fortunately no signs of anything serious. I put over a thousand miles on it right purchase and it handled like a champ. As for the other more serious issue, I'll see if there's any way to try and delay the rust long enough for me to fit and weld up new rocker panels.
Welcome to the excursion family! sounds like your happy with your purchase and to me that's all that matters! Good tip on the exhaust. Lots of things motor wise that I didn't cover in this video, but these are great trucks no matter which engine!
Thank you so much we have two that we are going to look at two and I appreciate you going through the steps and having this video out there for buyers 🥰🥰😘
My 02 had the oem brake controller plug buried under the dash. Pulled it out and just plugged into my controller. Also the door code is stamped under the dash
Ummmm that grille carries up to 04.5 then it changes so again miss info there 🤣💀 also the 03 and 04 6.0 excursion is the same suspension setup and everything as the 7.3 and such as the super duty trucks as well the excursion is the same as a f250 rclb And in length….
I specifically said in the video that I wasn't getting into engines, I did mention that seeing a vehicle cold is a good thing, If the vehicle is warm prior to your arrival you can't hear if the valve train is noisy on cold start, can't hear pulleys with warn bearings that only scream when they are cold, and if the transmission needed to be warmed up to even go into gear. I'd rather check out a vehicle cold any day.
Thank you for educating us on what to look for, really on any vehicle.
Glad to help!

you are correct, pretty cool things they are doing!

Great tips!
no problems to find new parts. full shops
It sure helps that they share a lot of parts with the superdutys!
Great walk thru ! Let me know when you ready to sell that one ! :)

Interesting. I believe both of these things might have been started in 02 because my 01 and 00 have neither. Thanks for chiming in love learning!

You’re correct, yes excursion never got a coil spring 4wd option even on the 05. Thanks for watching!
