It's such a shame that so many people will ignore or even mock it, due to badge snobbery/perception. Especially frustrating considering how good it is meant to be; literally every single reviewer has sung praises about it. I'll definitely consider one if I am in a position to switch to electric in the short-term!
Having owned one of these for 4 months, I can confirm everything in this review. Strangely, no reviews so far mention the outstanding Arkamys 3D sound system fitted to Trophy models: depth, clarity, fine detail in abundance; as an ex-sound engineer I’d happily mix an album on it.
Your issue on starting the car, driver error!
Get in, press the brake pedal hard until Ready shows on the screen and then it will go into drive straight away.

You can turn the traction control off to powerslide around the corners. Shame you didn't show that.

If you put it in towing mode, you disable most safety features, and if you scroll down on the main screen you can disable traction control (which is called something like ESC). You'll get a light on the drivers screen which should be yellow to say that it's off. That should put the car in a sort of track mode. Customise the driving modes, and that should let you burn through battery enough to get it sideways.

Thanks for the comments all - great to see so many knowledgeable people here. Wish I'd consulted with you before I got in the car; I couldn't for the life of me find that ESP button. You'd have laughed at the places I looked for a button. When we get into that 450hp MG4 next year, I will make doubly sure we give you some real sideways EV action! And a proper Fast Laps time.
on the big screen if you slide from top to bottom where the air conditioning opens a settings menu in it is the ESP OFF button
Why didn’t you turn off the traction control!
Everyone seems to like these, so we are test driving one in a few days. Also looks good in that colour.

Pretty sure you can turn off esp by swiping down on the screen
Swipe down on the touchscreen and there's an option to turn off the traction control.

You Brits should get a few billionaires together and buy back MG from SAIC. Even if its more expensive, I reckon the company is on a good track now to hit that balance between cost and reasonable performance and design.
They can only do them that cheap because of the Chinese government owning them
But you have to manufacture it in Britain.
If Britain wants a domestic car brand It should make a new one of its own, the Chinese have manufacturing capacity and many cards up it's sleeve, but lack prestige.
Britain has (some) prestige and consumer trust but lacks any capacity, least the one needed to push ahead a global brand like mg
You can't have mg just for nostalgia

£28495 for the se long range. A car that can only do 160 miles on the motorway in cold weather and that is running the battery down completely, which you can't if you want to leave a buffer, in case your next charger isn't working ? That isn't the fault of MG, it is the fault of all battery cars. This range is when it is brand new as well, which from day one, will be losing battery capacity with time and use.
Cheap car? Nope! Cheap EV well maybe

There are no more British car manufacturers. There were all purchased by foreign auto companies.
I totally support your idea but how many cars are actually made in the UK !? Mini , Nissan anything else !? If the cars are actually made in the UK, then it would be likely much more expensive but it would not have any market position. Let say if iPhone 14pro is made in the US, then it will be likely USD 1500. Then it is unlikely to attract many buyers.
