Pretty sure Venom eating the child with the balloon in Ultimate is the devs making fun of the side mission in Spiderman 2 where you have to keep saving the kids balloon.
This game was essentially a spiritual successor the the Neversoft and Vicarious Visions Spider-Man games from the PS1 era. It has a lot of the same moves and swinging mechanics from those games.
I was 3 months old when that game came out, and one of my earliest gaming memories was even my dad pulled it out of his collection and booted up the ps1 so I could watch him play
Apparently the reason this games storyline is similarish but different for a majority of the parts, apparently the developers were given a very early draft of the script that they were only allowed to keep for like 24 hours or something and weren’t allowed to keep it or take pictures of it so they kinda had to do it from memory but the script ended up changing, which is why like 85% of content is different like the skulls murdering Uncle Ben so yeah apparently this was an early draft if I remember correctly. Also since the original Raimi trilogy, Tobey’s Peter actually used Web Shooters (seen in an old trailer for Spider-Man 1) so since the early draft had him using web shooters it was probably put in for a way to refill web shooters instead of having unlimited webbing but like I said it was a very early draft of the script and it all got changed.
Some really good information there! I didn’t actually know about the short time they were allowed the script, so it’s no wonder there’s a lot of changes😅. I did know about the web shooters tho! My fave tidbit of info is that at 2001’s E3, Activision promoted the game displayed the web-shooter props in their booth, despite them not even ending up in the final movie! I actually really enjoy the look of peters mechanical shooters too, I much prefer the diy variations!
Thanks man! The graphics in general look better in this game for some reason 😂. I tried to change the style up slightly in the way I edited this one, and only realised how difficult it is doing videos like you do. Please replay and upload the entire trilogy, I just know it would blow up 🙏🏻
I had this game when was young. Such great memories, especially the Scorpion and Vulture fights. I don't recall having much trouble with difficulty personally, but I imagine it's a different experience playing as an adult.
The nostalgia of picking up this game again after 20 or so years was immense. I too couldn’t recall the difficulty being what it is, but Holy shit I struggle at some points of this game. When part two comes out, you’ll be able to witness me get to the point of wanting to tear my eyes out with frustration 😅
I’ve played the game multiple times at various stages in my life, so the memories kind of blur together. But I remember I was able to beat the game on the lower difficulties as a kid without too much issue. The highest difficulty is just ridiculous though. That bomb defusal mission was ridiculously hard on the hardest difficulty. I still haven’t beaten it to this day.
@jacobharris5894 that bomb defusal mission honestly made me pull hair out of my head. For some reason lowering the difficulty didn’t occur to me, so yesterdays video is just 22 minutes of me struggling immensely 😅
@@_Jay_YT Oh yeah. No wonder why you were struggling so much. I remember to get through fights on that difficulty I would have to really rely on webs, jumping/swinging around to avoid gun fire and running away to find health/webs. Also spamming the combos where you dash in and out or just doing swing kicks really helped with avoiding melee damage.
it actually depends on the spider man we are talking about as the original did use web shooters and its more of an artistic thing but occasionally it’s a plot thing.comics.just comics.
Even in the Rami movie, it was originally planned for Pete to have manufactured his own webshooters. There’s even some set photos and a quick shot in the movie with them on, think he was in his bedroom when we can see them!
@@_Jay_YT thats the thing with storytelling its totally up to who makes the storylines for what is and is not there its why most of Hollywood is in shit too in my opinion as in order to make storylines you need the right amount if new and old otherwise you risk losing old fans over new ones or the reverse.

You know smoking a little,then i was thinking damn what am I gonna do tomorrow because I’m going to a party with my girl so I’m like damn I just randomly started beating it off, so I paused your video and now I just came back, pack up another bowl and watch the rest of the video, but I love this game as a child Man you have no idea and even to this day they just gotta continue with the game or remastered or something. The closest we got was on the PSP.
Spider-Man always hits different after a smoke😅. Thankfully on the pc the graphics aren’t too bad, but fuck me the second half of the game gets difficult FAST. Tune in for part 2 if you wanna see me pull my eyes out tryna finish it 🫡
I prefer the way you're reacting to stuff in your Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man videos over this narrating what's happening. I prefer those kinds of videos

I remember this game so fondly, i loved the sam raimi spiderman so i remember reading the manual over and over again on the way home after we bought it and replaying it whenever I could after beating it many times
The graphics on this game were pretty damn stunning for the time. Better than Spider-Man 2s. Obviously performance suffered because of it but still a great gem
They sadly had to dial back the graphics on SM2 because if the open world taking up most of the processing power. I fully agree though, this game is actually beautiful if you look past the facial features 😅
There’s no way I could beat the higher difficulties, even today😅 I struggled enough on normal, so I’m sure I’d end up rage quitting after the first skull fight
This was my FIRST PS2 game, this was my first introduction to sixth gen and I absolutely loved it at the time. I also had a spiderman PS1 or 2 controller that I wish I had now so badly. I've still got a spiderman skateboard based on the movie that I just rebuilt though. People want $450 for one ebay New in the box.

The original trailer showed Peter tinkering with the web shooters, and there is still a scene in the movie where you can see his web shooters. It's when he saves Mary Jane and drops her off on a rooftop.
That’s true! There’s also a scene in the dvd 4:3 version of the movie where Pete’s wearing the shooters on his hands. During the scene in his room, pulling things towards himself, you can briefly see them on his wrists
Replaying after 18 years was honestly the biggest rush of nostalgia I’ve ever experienced 😅. I honestly can’t wait to finish it off, and I’ll be uploading as soon as possible 🙏🏻
@@_Jay_YT unrelated, but I have also wondered why you have a limit of webbing in this game when this version is supposed to have a limitless supply of it that naturally comes out of his wrist. Maybe you know this already, but there is at least a cheat code to give yourself infinite webbing which I admittedly always used mostly because I think the idea of a limited supply is bullshit due to my last point.

The best apart about this is that Tobey acts more like Spider-Man in the Rami Trilogy of Games, more then he does in the movies.

Indeed, it’s a PlayStation 2 emulator on my pc, so the graphics are improved and it runs a lot smoother!
The blue spiders are anti-depressants because this Spider-Man loses his powers when he’s having psychological troubles

I remember playing this game when i was 6 years old and I never made it past the warehouse level haha.
That was a good place to stop 😂, it’s gets sooo much harder in the second half of the game

i remember the 2002 mtv movie awards with jack black and they showed a preview of this game. along the spider-man parodies with jack black.

I already beat this game once. The gameplay is pretty bad compared to 2 but I would play it again. lol
