Toyota makes some good EV’s. Dodge has a new truck coming out that’s going to outcompete all other EV trucks, but dodge isn’t much into electric cars it seems.
This sounds EXACTLY like the same experience I had with my Model 3. Get ready for the popcorn. I had an (apparently) rather common failure, which was the front driver's side wheel bearing on it's way out at only 45K miles with the car. It was making this sort of humming and pulsing frequency at certain speeds, especially above 60mph. It was easily caught early on by me because I drive my car a crap ton (80-90K miles/year) - I would notice if there's a new noise present. So I take the car to the Tesla service in Henrietta, NY and they do a test drive and "can't hear anything, it's probably my tires". So what do I do? Bought a nice new set of Michelin Cross Climate 2s around 50K miles on the car. Right away I noticed the issue still persisted, so I took my car back. Keep in mind the car is out of warranty at this point but that isn't fair because the issue started when it still was. I came back to the same service center, showed up early for my 8:15am appointment. They open at 8am, by the way, so I came as soon as they were open. Now here's the real fun part: By 5pm, they could still not identify the issue. The kicker is that I sat there in the waiting room for the entire day. I watched others come in, wait hours, and get their car done before mine, all while sitting there hoping it would be my turn soon. At 5pm they were closing, so I got up to ask what was going on. Mind you, I had been very patient and relaxed the whole day and was as polite as possible. Turns out, they said they searched far and wide but could not find anything wrong with the car. Working as intended. But not before slapping me with a $200 bill for doing absolutely nothing other than diagnosis. I had that money saved for the part, not to pay someone to find absolutely nothing. So fed up, I paid the useless fee and took myself out of state for a while. But the noise kept persisting, and it grew louder and louder the more rotations and alignments I did. I took my car to three other mechanics and they all weren't too familiar with Teslas and mentioned it felt fine to them. I started to question my own sanity, so much so that I thought I could be having some kind of mental issue relating to the noise. But as you know, things always come to the surface one way or the other. Me, being so upset at the whole situation, walked into an AutoZone and purchased part 1044123-00-B own money, and brought it home with me. Despite everyone telling me that there was no noise and nothing was wrong with my car. So, I met up with a family member who was a former mechanic and took my car to a garage we had and watched as he changed the hub assembly to the new one. So the moment of truth came... The noise was gone!! I was more than thrilled but also so utterly pissed at how Tesla took my hard earned money and basically lit it on fire. How an issue that I had could not be fixed by them even after PAYING, was fixed by a family member. What the actual heck, Tesla. My car now has 134K miles. Few other issues, but that noise has never returned. It still haunts my dreams.
I hate to say this but it’s not just a Tesla issue, it’s mechanics all over the country. I’ve had literally dozens of similar stories to yours with service centers. Now I only ever go if I absolutely CANNOT fix it myself. I think of them the same way you talked about exotic vets. “Use them as a tool, but you’re better off doing everything yourself as much as possible.”
so since they refused it does that mean you had to pay out of pocket ?? because if there was an issue wouldn't that mean it would be covered under warranty ?
the car's already out of warranty so it was out of pocket regardless - but yeah i bet you're right, i didn't even think about that. if it was still under warranty, i could totally see them refusing to cover the cost
Tesla service definitely sucks. It’s like if they can’t see what’s wrong on a computer screen then nothing is wrong. I have been going back-and-forth with them for a month over faulty sensors that they keep telling me nothing is wrong because the computer says it’s fine. Ok like if you drive it you will see something is wrong!! lol ugh you will see something wrong
yeahhh sounds about right. at this point, i figure i just have to diagnose it myself, find the part number and specifically request they do that replacement
I had this issue with my seat sensor. It can happen if you spill water or another liquid in the seat. (both passenger and driver.) Once it dried out I had no more issues. Not sure if that was your problem or not but that could be why it was really intermittent.
I figured a North Carolinian wouldn’t know shit about Mexican food. And that looked to me, I was thinking, like an authentic Virginian’s take on “Mexican food.”
Wow, it's crazy that you'd have to wait months to get a service at your local service center. Good luck with renting out your extra Tesla. I hope all goes well.
I would put both cars and Turo and just use them for work when they aren't rented out. Also put both on your rideshare accounts so you can use either one.
Did you have anything on the passenger seat of the Subaru? A very small amount of weight on the passenger seat of my Cadillac will trigger the sensor and the car thinks the seat is occupied.
Can you talk about your experience with the replacement ear pads for your Sony wh-1000xm4? Mine are pretty worn out so I wanted to buy new ones but I've seen that third-party ear pads worsen the ANC and the sound quality
its funny you ask this cause i was looking at replacements like 3 days ago. i have the xm3's and they're still the original pads, but i end up with black flakes on my face every day now lol. i was gonna order the ifixit replacements, but yeah the reviews said it was more muffled. at this point, i might just wait til all the black stuff is rubbed off lol.
I dunno why my mind went immediately to “rapping” and hip hop when he said that. But he doesn’t even listen to hip hop in his car. I would so get him in touch with his black side as his roommate 😇😂
Sorry Alex for your unfortunates. You convinced me to get a Tesla. At first I was hesitant because there wasn’t enough service center now there is even more. It’s easier to get my car fixed then it was back then as well as third-party shops that will work on Tesla’s. I did upgrade the Tesla suspension cause it sucks to dampening ones. I also sealed the front door panel rear wheel well and added some deadening it’s more quite then the new highland ❤
@ I got a Tesla model 3 2019. Simple mods like installing an-acoustic glass sound and deadening foam where it really does a difference. I have front and rear metal sheet plate to protect the bottom of the car. Upgraded to the best shocks endura plus. I’ve had Tesla tech drive my car and said it’s quieter than the highland.

By then, most other manufacturers will probably have a similar EV if not a better one as well as a decent charging network. By the way, $136 for a sensor? I'm surprised it wasn't more because "luxury vehicle."
they replicated the issue since it happens every time you get in the car. like when delivering for amazon in it, it was happening 50 times a day since I'd make 50 deliveries. but they said it was normal

This is indicative of how our world regarding "services" runs lately, wherever you go there is no people actually knowing their stuff even when they "professionals" in their field. Instead they will just gaslight you until you give up or pay a lot and in the end they still dont do what you asked for and you cant do anything about it because they will say its supposed to be that way, or you just dont understand how it works while you probably do understand it better than anyone in the establishment because you had to deal with it, research, etc. Its so frustrating to see what this world has become, for whatever topic, even serious stuff like healthcare. The only thing they are gonna do is routine check ups or minor things that can be done quick, dont benefit you really and still gets them money. They dont want to bother with actual problems, just a bandage here and there. Idk how others get a good service maybe you gotta really scream in their face like a karen so they get their asses moving.
