"there is nothing more subversive in this day and age than wasting time" really was not expecting to hear something that profound today, wow. this is your best work yet (both the video and the piece)
This is insane. If I were you, I would want to be buried in this dress. After all that work, I'd find any excuse to wear it, including in the afterlife
I've been a lace knitter for like 3-4 years now and I would never even attempt something as overwhelming as this even now, not considering attempting it as my second ever lace project. your perseverance and drive is honestly insane and I think people in the comments are not aware of how much guts it takes to attempt something like this in the first place, let alone to pull it off!
like not to undermine you in any way but the fact that someone can be unaware that cotton fibres are not the to-go for lacework (particularly garments) and still push through this is crazy!
as a lace knitter this is a thriller movie! What a herculean effort. coming up the lace pattern while adjusting garment measurements is an insane brilliant feat. the frogging hurts every time but the final product is so impressive!!
Yes, alpaca is known (among knitters) to stretch significantly, regardless of how much care is taken of it. This is because alpaca fibers have fewer scales than wool. (The scales in wool help them keep their shape instead of slipping past each other) To assess the stretch and account for it in the design, you could have hung a swatch up with weights to simulate the weight if the dress, then measured how many rows you would get to an inch
this is insane! you are so incredibly talented, I can't believe you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, I have watched every video on this channel and they keep blowing my mind!
This is amazing! The way you can keep restarting and have the patience is a true spirted craftperson lol. I wish this was a pattern to follow! Love your content!
it looks so good! I was trying to make this dress for Halloween too but i gave up because it literally almost killed me lmao, props to you for actually finishing this
Currently knitting a recreation of the pink and blue jacket from Howl's Moving Castle. Watching you do lace has given me the courage to do cabling on the back panel
You are brilliant. The narration, the knitting, the editing. Just an incredible work I’m so glad you get to share it us. Hope it will reach more people you really deserve it !
It's funny, it's so easy to spot Frost Flowers after first seeing it on the Barbara Walker stitch dictionary! It's such a great stitch, and super memorizable for a lace pattern with no rest rows.
I can't even start to fathom the amount of perseverance to finish a project of this caliber. I crochet and I get frustrated over simple wearables😅. Knitting is hard enough, and knitting lace is a beast on its own, but it definitely was worth it in the end, because the result is an incredibly beautiful dress that would be priced for hundreds of thousands of dollars, you have my utmost admiration.
Gorgeous. I'm gagging. Someone stop me before I knit one for myself. You're so intelligent and detail oriented, and the final result is fantastic. Also shout out to you for also knitting lace in cotton. I have a floor length ballgown I did in incredibly complicated lace - two skeins of Hobbii twirls + a solid. It didn't occur to me until after knitting like 2400 m that that was a bad idea. Whoops.
as a person who chickened out to make a beanie and switched it to a cowl i respect you so much. when you said reverse-engineering in the title you weren't lying this is really engineering😲
Reverse engineer was my favourite subject in Fashion design school! You are a true artist and engineer girl. I have shared this video with so many people. ❤
I have been obsessed with this dress for the longest time and I’m so amazed that you were able to recreate it so beautifully! I haven’t been knitting for that long but my goal is to one done have the talent (and patience) to recreate this dress as wonderfully as you did! ❤❤
I'm absolutely in awe. Knowing as a fellow lace knitter how much work went into this, and having to imagine all of the work that went into this from a garment design perspective as well is incredible and broke my brain.
This was incredible!! Your perseverance on this project was totally worth it. It's STUNNING. Also, your sense of humour & video editing skills are incredible! I have no doubt that your channel is going to blow up very soon. Thank you for making this incredible content for us!
IT LOOKS SO COOL OMG, congrats on the marvelous execution of this project! I do feel like wanting to make one for myself now, even though I'm a beginner when it comes to knitting lol
I have spent the better part of my workday today binge watching your videos and I can’t tell if I love or hate them. While they inspire me to go rogue and pursue the limits of my creativity when it comes to knitting and crocheting, they also cause me physical pain every time I see you frogging hours worth of work. Anyways, time to continue the binge.
I learned how to knit and tat later in life. I am super impressed with your perseverance and tenacity, not to mention patience. You ma’am, are simply brilliant. Well done! 🎉
I was so shocked just seeing the thumbnail, you're an Artist, capital A! Wow, what an inspiration, your creativity and dedication is astounding, thank you for sharing your hard work and gifts with us!!
What an amazing project! Your research was so interesting to watch you talk about and your narration is hilarious XD. One thing I'd suggest looking into with all of the frogging is a "lifeline," where you insert a strand of yarn/thread/crochet cotton/unwaxed unscented dental floss through your knitting at certain points -- that way, if you have to frog, the lifeline should theoretically make frogging and picking up stitches easier.
I am so in love. The dress looks so beautiful. I’ve always been obsessed with it, much like everyone else and to see someone recreate it so well. I can’t even. Btw, I’m in awe of ur perseverance. You give strength to frog my projects when I need to
There's no way I would have had the patience to do all that. You truly have a gift with these projects, a large part of that just being able to stick with it when things go awry. Well done and thank you for sharing!
I love your perfectionism! I will admit, I did accidentally fall asleep during the video a few times, so this video was experienced a little bit as a horrifying neverending lace filled nightmare (probably accurate to ur experience) for me, but it's nice to see someone who will spend the extra (very extra) time to make something they know they'll love and use for a long time instead of rushing to push out something they're not happy with for content. This is truly slow fashion! I've never knitted a lace garment and probably never will, but this looks like hell to make. It turned out very beautiful, though! I'm glad you created something you can be happy with and I hope the process was enjoyable along with being excruciating!
so much talent, skill and humor in this video. I cannot believe the amount of perfection and dedication in this project. I would have given up or just let it be imperfect. Props to you!
This is actually incredible - I'd be amazed at myself if I could do something like this with a pattern to follow. Reverse engineering it is beyond insane. The mental fortitude to frog an entire sleeve instead of settling for an imperfection as well.
If nothing else this motivated me to keep working on my crochet blanket. Because if you managed to keep working on that dress until it was finished, I can make a few more granny squares. 😅 Wonderful dress, I'd argue its probably better than the original was ❤
my jaw was on the floor the whole time i was watching you create this masterpiece. this is some of the most impressive work i've ever seen. love your work
This was both hilarious and amazingly gorgeous. My hands hurt simply from watching and my brain definitely stopped being able to calculate along the way... but wow. Just wow. ❤
your video is amazing! i could definitely relate to your process of recreating this garment since i've tried to recreate designer knits in the past like this as well; i could definitely feel your pain throughout this, as well as the kind of dreamlike feeling you got at the end when you finished it. is it possible for you to share charts of lace patterns that you used?
it is with this level of perseverance and why not fuck around and find out with a healthy helping of realness that i wish to take on my out-of-the-blue inexperienced sewing projects
I only crochet but your masterful skill has inspired me to pick up knitting needles. I made my first swatch ever after your backrooms vest. It looked like shit but after seeing how often you frog I understand that good things take time & it’s really worth it. Thank you for torturing yourself with black yarn, the end result is amazing
Got recommend this video and so glad I clicked : I loved following you along this process, your perseverance is commendable and I was so relieved all the pain paid off in the end. That dress is gorgeous ! Your commentary killed me, I bet all the video editing and voice over must have taken a long time too. Thank you for sharing your talent and inspiring me to push myself beyond what I think I can or should do. I'll be looking forward to your next project
Gorgeous! It looks so good on you and you did a fantastic job. I've only ever knit a sweater so this is genuinely impressive. Especially because you just looked at a photo and said "I can do that".
haha, now i want to take a crack at making this. its gorgeous and since youve figured out what stitches go where, it takes the majoirty of the guessing off my shoulders. this is super impressive and way above anything i can currently do by just eyeballing something.
this video was magnificent! the editing and humor had me in stitches, “fidgeting in my fishnets”, purlanoia, frog around. and the garment itself turned out absolutely beautiful! i’ve just started crocheting lace, though i’m starting with small pieces, like collars. this has me so inspired to go for a dress. i’m subscribed and will be enjoying now the fight club top video as i finish the border on this collar ❤
Oh dear lord I can feel the beginnings of my next compulsive, obsessive project starting to form like nasal itching of an incipient head cold. And there’s an ideal stash of alpaca fleece that I just need to spin up first…argh! The fact that you made me think this is possible shows what a great job you did. Only the skilled make anything look remotely ‘easy’ 😊 and I thoroughly enjoyed your screenwriting
this was absolutely insane! as somebody who crochets, i can sympathize with the cycling stages of grief that comes with making a piece especially when you're freehanding it. your patience and determination is incredible, and your commentary was very refreshing. have nothing but praise for the finished work, its very very lovely, everything paid off! subscribing, cant wait to see more projects in the future!
This dress is truly extraordinary. Magnificent. Breathtaking. The fit is perfect. I am in awe and as a beginner crocheter/knittrer - I am truly humbled by your skill. I always loved VIvienne, and I feel that she would've loved your rendition of her design. Keep it up, great video and an even better dress!
This is defo the most incredible project I have seen in ages, I did not know the dress which is ridiculous considering its 1000% my vibe. Glad I stumble upon your video, I have to work on a crochet version of it since I don't knit.
Alpaca will stretch forever - even if you store it folded rather than hung. It’s maddening and I rarely use it. For future projects (if you chose to ever to do a project like this again 😵💫) you can put your project on scrap yarn, block it, try it on then, put it back on the needles and continue knitting. Regardless you are a marvel! Wonderful, wonderful job.
This is so incredibly awe inspiring !! You did such an amazing job! I recently started to learn how to crochet but this video alone has made me decide I want to learn how to knit as well! I love these types of dresses so much and am excited to work my way up to eventually making my own 💜
I watched this video maybe a few days after it came out, and ever since whenever I try to attempt something hard and say to myself "I can't do that, I can't just wing it, it won't work" - I think of you and this dress and I do it anyway.
wow this is really cool- you have a lot of skill! i tried kitting once and gave up after one loop lol. Glad you're happy with it! Gained a new subscriber :D
I love love love this!! Your voice overs, the sheer amount of talent that oozes from you! The wearable pieces of art created or reverse engineered (in this case) are simply amazing! Can't wait for the next one!
If I ever can do something like this, it will be the milestone of my life! It requires so much patience, passion, perseverance, motivation which I really doubt I can achieve that. But after watching ur video, it really inspires me go go back to knitting. This is really a masterpiece of art 🤩🤩

This is insane. If I were you, I would want to be buried in this dress. After all that work, I'd find any excuse to wear it, including in the afterlife
making a note for later hehe
never heard someone so accurately narrate the internal dread of creating something

Dame Vivienne Westwood would be proud. You did an awesome job.
ngl i know next to nothing about knitting. but with your level of talent and perseverence good lord, my lord. you are an engineer at this point

This was such an exciting watch, would you consider sharing the pattern?
This is amazing! The way you can keep restarting and have the patience is a true spirted craftperson lol. I wish this was a pattern to follow! Love your content!
The way I’m absolutely in the BIGGEST need for a pattern for this
Honestly it’s very reassuring to see the amount you frog, I appreciate you including all of it
it looks so good! I was trying to make this dress for Halloween too but i gave up because it literally almost killed me lmao, props to you for actually finishing this
petition to change Halloween to a later date just because
Currently knitting a recreation of the pink and blue jacket from Howl's Moving Castle. Watching you do lace has given me the courage to do cabling on the back panel

The emotional rollercoaster I went through watching this can't be overstated, but the final dress came out stunning!!
i admire not only your talent but your resilience. as a knitter, i can imagine how hard it was, i don't think i would have the perseverance to finish
This was absolutely unbelievable to watch. I have absolutely no words for how impressive this is.
Your videos are performance art and I love it!
THE HARD WORK HAS PAID OFF FOR SURE. YOURE AN INSPIRATION

I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful knitted piece. Your knitting skills are incredible! It looks SO GOOD! I love the micro-length, as well!

this is actually my dream dress, that is far outside of my skill level as a new knitter. your work is fantastic!!!
I was so shocked just seeing the thumbnail, you're an Artist, capital A! Wow, what an inspiration, your creativity and dedication is astounding, thank you for sharing your hard work and gifts with us!!
The dress turned out absolutely so so so beautiful!!!
LOOK AT THAT THING ❤❤❤ the way you are able to just look at a knit and work out how it was done is truly incredible. You have the mind of an engineer

[sending granny square motivation] - very specific, but pretty sure it's a thing
♥
What absolute amazing final product, I was 20 minutes in until I checked how much was left. Huge congrats to finishing such a beautiful garment!
my jaw was on the floor the whole time i was watching you create this masterpiece. this is some of the most impressive work i've ever seen. love your work
That froggery of the sleeve is a true horror piece.

This is like the final boss battle of knitting

This has to be one of the most suspenseful knitting videos I have ever watched. Bravo! Great work! 👏🏿👏🏿
Holy smoly the dedication, i could never. really beatiful garment, craftsmanship. 😲
I would pay $100 just for this pattern PLEASE RELEASE ONE 🥺🥺🥺
Your perseverence is admirable, I must say

That Moonlight Sonata as you frog. Pure sorrowful perfection. You are so stoic.
to not only attempt this project but to do it without a ton of lace experience 😱
HOLD ON! youve only done 1 lace project before 💀 i knit lace all the time, like basically every project and this seems insanely difficult still
😱 oh my god what an incredible project!! Both the dress and your commentary are iconic, SO clever, So patient, SO well done!!🔥
This is quite literally, the most amazing, mindblowing, beautiful thing EVER. Well done 👏 👏 👏
Ive been saving pictures of this dress on pinterest for years now haha
You are so talented! truly
The first time I’m actually happy with what youtube recommended! Talented. Brilliant. Incredible…can’t wait to binge your other videos too!

I watched this video maybe a few days after it came out, and ever since whenever I try to attempt something hard and say to myself "I can't do that, I can't just wing it, it won't work" - I think of you and this dress and I do it anyway.

absolutely mind boggling, my salute to you girl!
You made that with your own hands and your own fingers and sht that is BLOWING my mind 😭😭😭💜💜💜💜
It turned out absolutely stunning!
You should be so insanely proud of yourself!! Beautiful work!!!
I love love love this!! Your voice overs, the sheer amount of talent that oozes from you! The wearable pieces of art created or reverse engineered (in this case) are simply amazing! Can't wait for the next one!
I didn't know the dress before. your version is exquisite. very great talent!
this is so cool!! now i want to crochet something similar
Wow!! This is amazing! The detail is insane and the patience.
You did a splendid job
This is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! 😍😍
The talent is insane
This is the most amazing piece of knitting I've seen being made! Congrats its amazing! I wish to one day be able to make something so beautifull
If I ever can do something like this, it will be the milestone of my life! It requires so much patience, passion, perseverance, motivation which I really doubt I can achieve that. But after watching ur video, it really inspires me go go back to knitting. This is really a masterpiece of art 🤩🤩
What a wonderful creation, I love it, it looks really good on you! ❤
WOW this is so amazing! so glad this popped up in my recommended
