If I were in games with Filthy I think I'd attack him sometimes just for the reaction. Dont think I could help myself lol. Hell of a defense on his part though.
+Jlawson165 They enjoy the competition, just because they get angry at certain things doesn't mean they aren't enjoying playing the game, they're mad at a person
+Zephiris It's not when England is far ahead of you that you have to worry about (unless they're primarily playing for domination). If England is that far ahead then they have no reason to attack you. It's when they have a tenuous lead or are just a hair behind but still close enough to be a threat when you have to be scared of them, because then they have a VERY good reason to try and take your coastal cities.
Because he could have instead used it to try and slow acie's growth, preventing him from running away with the game. A runaway civ is far scarier than Ships of the Line.
It's different opinions from different perspectives. Tank realized he was at a disadvantage and tried to do something about it early. Filthy's opinion was that he should have hit Aciu with the xbows to allow Filthy to catch up and possibly take the lead. Its very easy to see how he would want to dictate this outcome for self gain.
+Orange I'm pretty sure that a choice between reigning in the guy in first and screwing over the one guy who can actually challenge the guy in first isn't a matter of opinion. If Tank attacked aciu, it would have still been anyone's game. Instead, he chose to attack Filthy and basically handed aciu the win on a silver platter. The only way that could EVER be a good strategy is if Tank wanted to throw the game and let aciu win.
VestedUTuber You have to look at it from the perspective of Tank, he knows he wont win a sea war against Filthy, so he cannot wait. Aciu had the biggest change to win, but thats not in the near future, so in order to win he has to survive first. At that point Filthy is a way bigger threat than Aciu. You cant win the game if you die in renaissance-era from a ship of the line rush. Atacking Filthy is the best option of the two
@@gregorhofstede6169 No the cost of settling that trash city and making an army to fight Filthy loses him the game. In Civ you can't let a person runaway with it. There was no outcome where conquering Filthy wins Tank the game.
I loved this part! Filthy, you get really mad when people attack you, for any reason. :) It's really cool that you show emotions, means you're really not a robot. ;)
This is classic Filthy, and he's right to be furious. This was back when idiots would suicide into him just for the stream glory as they knew he was the best player. Too many in these old games just gave up and stopped trying to win if they didn't get perfect starts and pulled dumb crap like Tank did so they didn't have to play a "losing game" much longer.
Really nice defense filthy, do you have any tips for when people rush xbows on you? Happened to me a few times and I've never defended myself against it
I'll tell you his strategy: You argue that players should only do moves that help them win, but looking at Tank's situation, there was no move he could have done which would have helped him win the game directly. Attacking you was his best option because if he managed to capture your capital, he could develop it and attempt to catch up with the other players. Attacking Aciu would do nothing for him as there's be no way he could take anything. Saying that he should have attacked Aciu was selfish because it would not benefit tank period and it only helps YOU win. You are angry that he attacked you because you don't think that that helps him win but what you said he should do just helps you.
@@FilthyRobot Neither way would. This would at least give him a chance to stay relevant. You are arguing that he should Suicide ACIU, which goes against one of your main points which is that people should play to win. Suiciding ACIU is not a moves that helps tank win the the game. (If he managed to take london, it would help him win).
@@hiddentreasure2161 No, I'm arguing that him suiciding me is a less likely path to victory than him attempting to take advantage of the inevitable conflict between ACIU and me.
@@bboard17 He doesn't really know what he's talking about; I just chose not to reply because arguing with an idiot is like trying to play chess with a pigeon. They'll just knock the pieces over, shit on the board and still claim they won.
It's not like we've seen Filthy in a similar position attack the second strongest player to take his lands and cities in order to fight the game leader later, knowing full well that immediately attacking the leader will lead to a prolonged stalemate that will allow the other players in the game to sim city to a substantial science lead. It's borderline cheating, considering his status in NQ group, to make such a fuzz every time someone does something hostile towards him.
I'm almost as mad as filthy on this one. I just spent the past 2 hours watching him building up his shit only to get fucked by the guy in last place. I was rooting for filthy.
I had one of my friends, when playing a game with him, start a war with someone I had a defensive pact with, WHILE HAVING A MILITARY DISADVANTAGE AGAINST ME *OVER THE GUY'S GREAT PROPHET BEING ADJACENT TO HIS CITY* then he tried to go for nukes (we were late modern era), proclaiming that he was gonna nuke everyone really soon, when really he was nowhere close to getting nukes. so I spammed artillery and killed him and he was like so salty XD.
Filthy I’ve been watching you a long time and you elevated my 4K hour Civ play from A tier to S tier. I thank you for that sincerely. That being said, you really need a better attitude sometimes. Tank was smart to attack you - the only play you had was to SOTL rush him to power up and catch up to Aztecs.
Because an academy on tiles with no resources means you have to work bad tiles. On horses you get 1food+2hammers+science tile. It's smart to have all your academies in 1 city. But if you use bad tiles for the academies you end up with bad growth/bad production city. Which is particularly bad for a science city where you need a lot of hammers for science buildings and a lot of food to make it even better for science.
I’ve seen countless games where Filthy’s goal is to forward settle the shit out of people and show no remorse when doing so - but he expects others to not do the same and gets livid when they do so? Don’t be a hypocrite filthy.
Guys the reason he gets so mad is because people do this too him like every game because they know he is the best player lol... you'd be getting salty too, nobody forced you too watch the video ^_^
more salt than the dead sea
Coming back to civ5 as an adult, and the game is still fantastic. I did not play correctly as a teenager... lol

This is a great video as a demonstration on how to defend against an unexpected crossbow era attack aha
yup. 1) blocker units 2) build walls and castles to regain HP 3) build tons of roads in your backlines 4) longbowmen OP
