Both cars are sweet but I say GM brings back the firebird and the trans am and if that ever happens then the mustang is done
Your forgetting that its still gm and they will find a way to screw it up
Having owned two GT's and now a V6, the Mustang V6 is great. Quick and nimble. You really notice the lower weight in the front end. A manual is a must have.
does anybody else like the sound of the v6 mustang over the v8 mustang? im lovin the sound of the v6
Motortrend did a comparison between an M3 and an 11 GT and the difference in performance is negligible numbers wise. The M3 was still a better driver's car but the tester said the Mustang was by far the most exciting and fun. In the early days, there was a lot of speculation that the cylinder head was set up for DI, it just wasn't implemented but it certainly looked like it was set up for it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a few years. 450 horsepower anyone?
I LIKE THIS GUY I LIKE HOW HE TALKS VERY SMOOTH
i love watching people talk crap about brands and import vs domestic. a TRUE automobile enthusiast loves cars and the technological improvements they bring, no matter what brand or where they come from.
I felt like the video was just getting started...then it ended. It seemed like it was going to be a good, in-depth review, but was unnecessarily short.
Obviously I prefer the 5.0 & SS over a V6's but, the Mustang V6 with the performance package and 6spd manual hauls some ass though. If you take out the optional 3.31 gears and go with a set of 3.73 or even 4.10's you'll have quite a little monster there! That gearing should make up for the lower torque of the V6... 280 isn't bad though...Same goes with the Camaro V6...That gearing would make a world of difference. I'd like to see some videos of these two cars with this gearing.
The 4.0 was a boat anchor. But it was one hell of a reliable boat anchor. It defiantly served well in the ranger pickups.
Who agrees ? :D
Tell me about the jackshafts and cam phasers
Been there done that and learned the hard way too :S...ALWAYS have a daily drive that has some form of mileage on hand when ever you get any kind of muscle car.
I like how C&D is the only stubborn magazine that states the camaro is faster when all other mags are averaging high 12's for the stang
My modded grand prix runs a 13.2 at 104. Whats up with the stang running a 14 flat w/ the same trap speed? Either terrible driving, or it's a slug off the line
@steven4rmnewyork Dude, what are you talking about? The 6 cylinder Mustang is putting out 300 + hp while getting 31 mpg. That's pretty amazing. The 5.0 Mustang has more performance from the factory than practically any other Mustang to date. You have to keep in mind that the older Mustangs, Camaros, GTOs, and whatnot all had significantly larger engines. A 5.0 engine is only 302 cubic inches. Older Mustangs had 351s, 428s, and 429s. That's a lot of difference.
i've always been a chevy guy. but the body style of the newer mustangs are just nice.
Mostly because the camaro and mustang have always been each others rivals. Also the only challenger worth testing with the gt and ss is the 392 and it's $8-$10k more. The 392 and other challengers are badass cars no doubt, I personally love the looks almost as much as my mustang. It's just unfortunate that those looks bring on the weight
Ford has done a magnificent job. It finally has the HP to match it's competitors. The new Boss 302 has me very interested.
Has anyone here noticed how bad-ass the V6 Mustang sounds? It sounds like a V8!
Alright,, at 1:01 to 1:05, what cars rev was that? Sounded beautiful.
@six6wings Why is it the show stopper? The Mustang still handles better, even with the live axle.
@Disawat get the camaro rs or ls watever the v6 version the car looks good and some people may think u have the v8 version well its ur choice im just recommending the camaro
It's great to see the Muscle car return to the streets.
I clicked the pre-video ad that brought me here in hopes of finding out the music that was playing. That music is not present in this video.
Anyone know the artist who made the neo-classical music for the advertisement they're running???
How does the camaro handle is the rain/snow?
@BRLStudio 392 challenger. The replacement srt8, but the price went up on it. I don't know if they are trying to compete with the Mustang GT/ CAmaro SS or the gt500 now.. lol
I wonder why they only ran a 13.2 @ 109 in a new 5.0? All the other mags ran between 12.6-12.8 @ 111+. One mag ran a 12.6 @ 112 with the new 5.0
@sandman3131 Like I said, don't get comfortable because in 2012 the Camaro is moving away from the Zeta Platform and into the lighter A Platform. HP is predicted to be at 435-440hp. The V6 which is already 312hp today will be 330hp.
@juanlozanoism do you always say that on the ford videos?
both are amazing cars...
@coalandnuclear 93-99. You mean? Cobra R was a 5.4 4v pushing 385hp..... went to chevy again from 01-02... then stang came back with 03-04.
@Fishrocksalamander it read 515 hp at the crank. at the wheels its about 426 hp.
at the wheels means some of the power is lost by the time it gets from the engine
to the wheels.
@KillaCamRon405 Uhm dude the power output of the 2011 camaro ss is the same as the one from 2010 so what is your point?
Legend says "they will never be forgotten"
Truly
Soooo, what version of the camaro is the one that transforms into a kick ass robot?
I've always been a camaro fan. But I'm glad to see ford putting out a mustang that is FINALLY worth buying. (outside the 03/04 cobra which was pretty good). I think i'd still have the camaro based on looks but Ford has FINALLY closed the performance gap between the Camaro and the Mustang. It's about 'effin time!
unfortunately I'm going to have to trade in my 2010 corvette grandsport for another car due to the high maintenance that comes with it. I'm going to have to downgrade to another car and i've been debating between the base mustang model and the base camaro ls model and i'm unsure on which to get. The mustang is cheaper than the camaro as well as better mpg but i'm not sure which one to get. If you can posts your opinions and tell me about your experiences with these cars please do so
@goarmy979 no you should say chevy not shevy.
@insanemethod1 Are you sue? because most tests (from 1993-2002, and 2010) show it the other way around.
@mossow71 It's already been proven that the new Hennessey HPE650 Camaro is clearly superior to the Super Snake. The Camaro had a better track time, better drag time, and better suspension than the Super Snake.
@SFBay69 i dont really know hiw they measure if its a big or small block... I just looked at the raptor when i was buying my truck and thats how the dealer advertised it as... They asked if i wanted the 5.0 or the big block 6.2
@mossow71 actually the camaro ss weighs 4600 pounds which includes 4 passengers and sits on the same frame and the GTO's
Hey I'm thinking about getting a 2010 mustang the v6 model its only come with 210bhp right ? Is it gona be enough horse for the big heavy body ? well here 2010 mustang v6 or comaro LS
P.S. Cant aford the GT or SS cos of insurance :(( thx
why not feature a Shelby Cobra? Wouldnt that be a closer match to a Camaro SS?
mustang.. my dream car... in a land of bmw's and benz's i want a mustang
i saw an avalanche yesterday and i noticed something about the tail lights. the avalanche and camaro have the same tail lights just turned sideways.
2011 and Mustangs still have live axle rear suspension, but I guess why change something that has worked so well for so long.
@TheStig000 jesus christ! now i wanna drive one even more! is that stick shift or auto?
Its hard to argue with skidpad, but seriously how did the V6 Mustang which in this lot should be the worst handling, achieve the best skidpad result?
After replacing the Pirelli tires on my 2012 5.0 with a different brand (Mickey Thompson in my case) I realized that the Perelli P-zeros are not as great as they are hyped up to be... the name sounds cool but I get much better traction/handling with different tires. I think the Pirellis may be good for winter though - they seem like a harder rubber than other z-rated tires.
hey so... when the 2012 camaro zl1 comes out we gonna compare that to the 2011 mustang gt? i mean its only fair
Does anybody know the music from the advertisement??
@vinylcollector08 id have 2 choose the camaro because i love 2 drive fast. dont get me wrong the challenger is quick but it feels like a long distance car and its a bit too heavy 4 me.
@thunderup86 You obviously haven't researched what you just said. the camaro is the heavier car here.
you know the camaro is pushing 3800lbs right?
@Texarmageddon i could be wrong on the DOHC thing...am too lazy to look it up ..but i thought they switched to DOHC after 05 models...hell if i know..what i do know if it atleast had SOHC..wich is still 1 more than an LS1...and those engines are a 90 degree block and the heads on it are HUGE..the 4.6's are actually lager in size than the larger displacement LS1...physically larger...so for everyone who says..the 5.0's and 4.6's can beat a laerger engine...need to look at how huge they are
@mcesarey iv'e never seen a 2011 vs 2011, all the vids ive seen are 2010 vs 2011
@gmrtg1414 i wasn't talking about GM's i was talking in general. It might not be a small block to GM but to everyone else it is a big block. The biggest v8 on the market today from a american auto manufacturer is a 6.2. So its considered "big"
@Lilmorty100 sure thing lol, throw a Bassani on there then say that... Ford has to put restrictive exhaust systems on there because of emissions control.
what are those shorts
@lolialmostskate You're wrong the liters are metric measurement of displacement and the cubic inch is english. They measure the same thing, displacement so you can't have a difference of more than a couple inches per tenth of a liter. It's just the liter points (.1, .2 etc) are bigger than a couple of inches. That's why you can have a 302ci or a 306ci motor being a 5.0liter. But you will never have a 359 thats a 7.0liter. 359 is a 5.8 liter motor.
@EnEsFive ok, look it up urself. 412 at the flywheel, or 460. sorry i was off a little.
@MsMHAP MSRP for the 2013 GT500 will probably be in the 60's.
@MsMHAP and who said it is going for 90g?
Anyone know where i can get that v6 grill for my 2011 ? its sexy
@italiankilla58 no.. because the camaro weights a shit ton because of its body size and extra 1.2 liters..
@Lifan2009 no, but I believe false advertising and fraud are against the law. I suppose they found a loophole though be simply calling it that without actually claiming the car was made in the given year.
@cornholiofromtitica funny, it used to be that the indi rear cobra was out done by the solid axle camaro. everythign is backwards now from what it was in the 80's 5.0 vs TPI.
@CBCOlympics oh yeah of course you got the new ZL1 Camaro but all it is a middleweight with a Cadillac cts-v motor with a supercharger on it and different changes, oh and just in case how did i know etc well i went with my work buddies to the chevy auto show so they can unveil the ZL1 and even the guy that was in part of the project building the car said it has the caddy motor etc so there ya go.
@cornholiofromtitica funny, it used to be that the indi rear cobra was out done by the solid axle camaro. everythign is backwards now from what it was in the 80's 5.0 vs TPI and the 4th gen fbodys vs the various mustangs during that era.
Hmmmm, what would happen if Ford made the 5.8 or 5.4 mustang or something with the same cubes as Gm?
@Cornellfan777 lol the 2010 maro is the same performance wise as the 2011
Where is the Dogde Challanger in this shoot out? Is it not a pony car too??
@V6stangman2007 And whats worst yet for Chevy is I heard that they have a new hot rod coming out, named Chevelle. I'm wondering how bad that could cut into Camaro sales?
I say that the best to chose is the V6 mustang as if it will be your everyday use car
bob barker, why are you doing a commentary on this video?
@jhowe67 The 2011 Camaro came out a little later. Ford pushed out the 5.0 in response to the 2010 Camaro. I don't think I've seen any comparisons where the 2011 Camaro beats the Mustang. I've seen some videos of F Body cars beating the new 5.0 but they had to have been very modified. Every professional comparison video I've seen on here have the 5.0 beaing a few tenths quicker 0-60 and in the quarter.
@sandman3131 R&D Dec. 1991 pg. 76-86:
1992 Mustang LX 5.0 (302) 225hp 300tq 1992 Camaro 5.0 (305) 230hp 325tq.
0-60: Stang LX 6.9 Camaro 6.6
1/4 mile: Stang LX 15.5 @90mph Camaro 15.1 @93mph.
It's all there man. Just go to your local library and check out those Mags. I've mentioned.
@SOFSoldier1 not the same price range
@speedyshogun Your right, Mustang looked great from 74-04 LOL. Specially the 76 Cobra ll.
@lilace504whodat i meant 6.2 and i guess it was because these are manuals and the in the other video i saw they where automatics
@Texarmageddon I agree. Then's where the stang started to die. It still had something left of the muscle car look though. And it was a bullet in comparasion with most pinto based "stangs". Well... 390 made more than 330 hp. You can find everywhere that ford underrated a lot the horsepower of the engines a lot to introduce them in certain racing categories. I personally don't find the 4.6 as a good engine for performance purposes. It's hard and reliable, good for real life situations.
"replaces the old boat anchor v6 that couldn't get out of its own way"
lmao so true :)
@insanemethod1 Dude, I think the IROC camaro models were built to be handlers, and the 05-10 ford mustang gt's are faster than the 93-02 camaros, so that explains a lot of your theories (no offence intended). I'm talking more along the lines of the 2010 camaro ss vs. the 2010 mustang gt (you know the base v8 models) here, I'm abount 95% sure it's the other way around.
were getting quite old at that point. I forget how long that embargo lasted. it was like 6 to 8 years or something like that. It got lifted because it later got deemed unconstitutional.
@swan467 when mustangs pull in my drive i give them some card board cause every ford ever made leaks oil or trans fulid.
@TheFordman30287 how about a Cadillac Grudge Match: Cadillac CTS-V Coupe vs Shelby GT500...
@whiplash505 why so buthurt, bro?
Both are great cars. Regardless of the stats both vehicles being the new generation of their respective lines equally impress and meet up to the expectations we all know and love. They both went back to their roots, but kept the future in mind. Thumbs up to great american ingenuity!
@TAKEAPlLL ya, my facts are a little off...but take a camaro 2SS and the shelby gt500 and i gaurantee u r gonna like them better than the challenger,
@9992103 Have you ever driven a new Camaro lately? Friend at work had a V-6 Camaro rental & that thing is a complete blind spot. My 2006 Mustang GT is has much more outward visibility. The new Camaro & Challenger are very nice cars, I would own either if given the opportunity, I really dig the new Charger R/T2011.
Was that acually a SS Comaro?
@whiplash505 Not really. I'm 16 and I drive a camaro. Have you compared an older v6 to the newer 2012 model v6's? Beat an 03 gt 4.6...These new v6s are no joke. calm down
@man36021 I ment "are you sure?", was a typo.
@MicroOrginisum For sure that along with the 2.3 i4 and the 3.0 all great low maintenence motors for the ranger but no power at all. They were just that great motors for the rangers!
@saleener1985 If your talking about the camaro I totally agree I have driven one and I was afraid to use the cars power because that pillar IS in the way, and i didn't want to loose it and fly into something I didn't see. Camaros feel fast but when you put your foot down it's like you got a 3.1 l when you think you have a 6.0 l. I will never turn my back on a Mustang.
Guys im either gonna get a camaro or mustang so which one is a better car?
@ThePrinceOfSanDiego True, it was a comparison, and they thought it would be a better daily driver, seems the general opinion is is different though.
@twfish2013
Correction, Which should = more torque.
@dannydevito64 Challenger is in a different size class, though I will say it is the one that nailed its look. Mustang in second place for looks with Camaro taking third.
@wideopen704
BTW i see alot of "likes" and "Favorites" for car videos on your channel as well as a couple lame as videos. Lets be honest though, do you even own a vehicle that is registered in your name?
@sandman3131 Car & Driver dec. 1993, Introduction of 4th gen LT1 Camaro and New Body Mustang
Camaro 275hp & 325tq/Mustang 5.0 215hp & 285tq. Mustang went backwards instead of forward.
0-60: Camaro 5.4/ Mustang 6.7
1/4 mile: Camaro 14.0 @102mph/ Mustang 15.1@92mph
I guess Ford doesn't care about muscle car status for the Mustang anymore at this point.
@TheKaaura what? no really? do you know that camaros' were not produced from 2002 up until 2010? The first model after 2002 is the new bumble-bee type camaro, unlike the low lying flat, big ass camaro.. So pray please tell me how do you find the camaros to the same? I think you probably meant the mustang looked the same. The styling has not changed by a huge jump like the camaro, but they changed the mustang styling lil by lil..
