for people complaint about FF7 Rebirth minigame. mini game is MOSTLY OPTIONAL. story pacing is good when you try to do linear. at most you will only find 1 or 2 tower in each region, wont find sanctuary, wont find major minigame which is locked behind protorelic. even catching chocobo isnt mandatory it only required for region 1 as tutorial. and in chapter 8 if you choose to go to skywheel first you will skip all minigame in gold saucer. i choose to play mostly linear at 1st playthrough only interact with side content if i feel it. really good journey, never once the game burn me out. skip corel desert, gongaga, and almost all cosmo canyon at first playthrough, and progress for each region not even close to 50%. really good game as long as you didnt have OCD things - trying to complete it all in first playthrough. fyi, this game replayability is really good, thats why no need to try hard on 1st playthrough. the real playthrough (if you want challenge, like sekiro or elden ring). happen in 3rd playthrough. 2nd playhtrough/hard mode is only preparation to tackle 3rd/4th playthrough. 3rd playthrough is game with seamless battle/shortcut only mode, full realtime battle like proper ActionRPG. 4th playthrough is to game with no damage at all
I've seen people complain that the game was too big, which to me, is a poor complaint. From what I've seen, people only complain because they trophy hunt and this games trophy hunt is rather intimidating. To your points, I personally feel the game has good side content that is worthwhile because it leads to unique items such as materia. While some mini-games are fun and others are tedious, I liked them all, even the insane ones. My only complaint has to do with pacing. While most are optional, there does seem to be areas and chapters that half of your playtime will be minigames. ( From Junon to Dyne ) However, I see some complaining about optional content which to me insane. This game, including the minigames and side content, lets your choose your depth, allowing your to play your way, just like in the examples you provided.
The piano mini-game should be the worst on the list. It's hard enough perfecting the RS moves but it's just cruel, while not as frequent, having to use the LS as well. The best score I can get in this fucking mini-game is a "C". My reaction timing and coordination isn't what it used to be and they should have included more accessibility options for us older gamers.
Some mini-games are affected by difficulty, but some aren't. And those left stick notes come fast to everyone, not just you. Lol I liked the mini-game and the potential. I think it was hard intentionally, to make you butcher classic songs fans love, making you cringe. My complaint would be the rewards. While some materia is good, some materia is common and not worth the practice it took.
If the games are in the story mode they should give you the option of skipping them or having a UI Play them. They're pain If you can't win them. To get on with the story.
Yes, it was the worst part of the entire chapter and perhaps the entire game. I didn't rank it however because it didn't have a "score" and was forced on the player. If I did though? Easily last. Lol
I'm quite surprised you rank the piano minigame that high. Personally, I hate the piano mini game lol. I can only manage to A the first and Tifa's theme while enjoying the music starting on Barett's theme, there are some notes that's putting me off like that part where you hear 3 notes but you only need to hit the last part. Super annoying that I had to mute the game just to get an A; Ironic for a piano game.
I think it was clever, a nice call back, and lets some players just play for fun. However, I think everyone hates the left side notes that seem to come at us fast. lol
Most of these mini games are outright fkn irritating and no fun! They took out one of the best games from the OG "Snowboarding"! The 3-D Brawler just sucks and I have no words for that totally BS The Moogle Emporium. I absolutely cannot stand the Moogles and the frustrating and totally annoying Moogle Emporium enrages me. Queens Blood is awesome however the last Nightmare Survival mode is incredibly hard and unfair but I still like the challenge since all of the other matches are too easy.
I'm sure snowboarding will make a return in part 3. And the challenge of Queen's Blood while sometimes unfair, is also addicting. It seems like the devs made the challenges for each other during development and then just put them in the game for some added fun.
Queens Blood answers the question how can you possibly top Triple Triad.. as for the mini game and overall hatred I honestly don’t get it there are some games that are required for story progression but they have very low bars set so as not to impede progression… my opinion people just love to complain, people complained that the map of Remake was too linear, now they hate Gongaga and Cosmo Canyon, I loved the challenge of having to navigate and find my way around those regions. This game is amazing, it has difficulty grades for any range, players that can choose to coast through the story or to unlock every achievement and push the boundaries of the open world.
Yeah, I've actually seen people say they prefer remake over rebirth because rebirth is too big...like what? lol Rebirth in my opinion has made returning to remake hard because nearly everything has improved and been expanded, save the story of course. And despite having some issues with some minigames that affect pacing starting around chapter 4, these issues can be powered through because the game lets you set your own depth. For example, you can do all the beach minigames to get all the outfits, or just do the minimum, your call. However, the back to back nature of these chapters, from the dolphin, to the parade, to the queen's blood ship, to the beach, to the saucer. These chapters can overwhelm unexperienced players or people wanting to 100% it and make it where over half of their playtime during these chapters is spent on minigames, which can be skipped, but also offer valuable items. I can see their frustrations, but as for myself, I think it is a good problem to have.
@@AlexAdrift yea but I felt in fort condor I can plan better and adjust to the scenario. Gears and gambit will throw so much out that if you don't have an exact lay out you won't be able to win
@@Jburneyjr Fair Point. It can be unfair as well, I just found that the pre-made settings made it way easier compared to Fort Condor, but that isn't the case for everyone. I might just suck at Fort Condor. Hopefully part 3 will bring them both back though with some added things.
The best way to play the game is drop to easy burn through story mode doing moderate side quests , beat the game think about it and then use the rest of the world as a sandbox
@@AlexAdrift Side Quests are like deleted Scenes from movies they are the exact same, sort of build the world but dot build the world, some should have been included and some shouldn't have etc
If not for the redeeming qualities of combat and story for the first 60 hours, honestly this game would be a C- due to how destructive the superfluous minigames are to the overall vibe. They make nearly everything into a mini game, key plot points suffered in some ways. Essentially this is 60-80 hours of game and 120 or so hours of minigames. They could have added more padding to the main story. I.E. playable optional areas from the original (Wutai, edited down to only include citizen reactions and thoughts or foreshadowing) and that forest (where you pick up apocalypse the triple AP weapon for cloud, and that would have been minigames but with some big story, some tie in). They could have even created a new zone or expanded to include something old or new. 2 extra zones, more packed, again the areas mentioned, DLC for any or multiple of the new side characters, or basically anything else lol. They could have included a bunch of mini games in those new areas we should have more lore around the side characters that they spent remake building up is what I'm saying in addition to my other recommendation and honestly I don't have a problem with the game since I'm 140 hours in almost other than the fact that they have so many minigames and that's pretty much the entire post game and they should not have it tied to character progression that is a serious problem in my opinion and part 3 has to be something that blends it together in a more palatable way or else they are going to get a lot of backlash but I can only hope they will put out some DLC for another Zone or something that they left out I mean they were willing to change the story but aren't able to think of creative original things for side content that are in any way expansive. So it's a B- game. Part 3, again, has to be a masterpiece to offset this. Ps: I liked about 1/4 of the minigames. Was okay with half and hated with a passion 25%. I just worry for the future now lol
Most of the mini games were annoying but doable - especially after finding the right guides. Some required more attempts than others but in retrospect, I thought none of them were too bad.
I'm just not a mini-game fan and especially hate any that involve card games. I don't even like card games IRL. I won the tournament on the ship but ignored every other QB NPC I came across for the rest of the story. At least when you unlock Chapter select in this game you get the option to skip any mini-game required to move the story along. Moogle mischief got annoying when they added a timer for the last three shops but more annoying is Cloud is unable to leap over fences lower than his knees. I also hated they hid certain weapons as high score rewards. They should have also had them available in weapons shops to buy.
Yeah, the chapter select really helps you go back to get missed items, quests, fights, or minigames. That is why I tell people to play at their pace because they can always go back. Personally, this is when I beat some fights and the QB puzzles. And yeah, I understand your feelings about the weapons. When I seen a weapon as a reward, I forced myself to master the minigame. While I enjoyed this, I can see how it can be frustrating to some while killing pacing/story momentum.
@@AlexAdrift I'm almost 60 had CTS surgery in both hands a few years ago so I don't have the sharp reflexes required to master most of these mini-games to get the higher scores. When it comes to combat I'm great but some of these mini games like playing the piano, the parade, situps with Tifa requiring quick button prompts are too tough for me.
@@lambo2655 I am sorry. Hopefully with an update they can add in some more accessibility options. But in the meantime, don't feel left out when it comes to the content. Plenty of people skipped it or feel annoyed by the difficulty. I've seen some clever tips as well, like having another player control an analog stick for the piano, or pausing the minigames are the right time in the brawling mini-game.
I still get everyone complaining about fort condor difficulty. I beat it in 3 turns pre-patch. Yes the final level was a massive spike and the final tower was bullshit but it wasnt that bad if u just plan ahead and look at their upcoming spawns
I'm still in Chapter 8 or 9 I think, but holy shit there's more? For a guy who never played og, and didn't know some of these if not all, were present in og too, yet I hate how much of it is in this game. I think minigames should have a balance in story games, for a guy who doesn't like to miss out on content/rewards, this sucks. Like I wanna play story legit, but my fear of missing out is making me play these or I'm not fan of any of em. I prefer part 1 over this in that aspect, more story focused, balance of minigames like this has A LOT.
@@kingofblackout I think the game can overwhelm the player with them. During my playthrough I didn't want to miss things either so I would do everything as I found it. This was the wrong approach though in hindsight. I should have just played at my own pace because even after the credits, the game still has so much content. It is possible to return to side activities, all of them, later in the game after completion. They make it incredibly easy to seek out the things you missed, including those in the story. Personally, I would work for the rewards and do the missions that interest you and ignore the rest. You can come back in later chapters or even post game while keeping your progression, items, materia, etc.
Beating all the mini games isn’t hard. Beating rank 3 or hard mode rank 3 requires you to be an above average gamer. I’m down to just the legendary VR missions now. Queen’s blood was by far my favorite mini game.
I don't even think it takes skill, just a time commitment for the learning curve. And yeah, Queen's Blood was great and excited to see it come back for part 3.
Yeah, some people liked the Remake Condor but disliked this version. Personally I thought both were good, Rebirth was just more difficult. And I agree, Queen's Blood is great.
I left some off like mushroom picking and chicken hunting since they were 1 time things. Both can be tedious and felt like the devs intentionally making things difficult. They were trolling hardcore with some of the tasks.
@@AlexAdrift That's true I even finished the can't stop won't stop version but I truly hated that mini game in my opinion the worst I don't think i found the frog jump one or don't remember it!
Imo Queen blood is the most overrated mini game in rebirth. I Will admit it did grow on me once the game stopped throwing it down my fucking throat but I find it completely unfair at times and luck based. It can be fun tho and understand why people like it
It is a card game, which means it's going to be RNG/luck based. But I understand it isn't for everyone. Personally, It grew on me as I tried more and more cards/strats.
I think you like being that guy. Haha And Yuffie isn't the issue, Aerith's section is rough though. Anytime Aerith is solo, like the double bomb fight, it takes some practice.
Cleared Aerith's "hard" trial first try & very easily, give her hermes shoes, first strike, speed up, luck up & simply spam sorcerous storm, I hit max score long before the timer ran out.
There is a learning curve for sure. My tips? Pay attention to the actual board positioning. Steal the spots they place things on. Just doing this will take you far without even paying attention to effects or points. Plus, in the deck building menu, you can craft pre-built decks that are good and see potential card combos.
It took me longer than I care to admit to notice the little pawns in the top left corner of the cards indicate how many jewels need to be in in an open space before I could play a card. My other main problem is the little AOE boxes on the cards are plain confusing. First why is the area shown on the card larger than the actual play area. Next the colors that indicate what will happen on an affected area all look similar.
@@nick_fuqua As a colorblind dude myself, I didn't really know what the hell a card was gonna do unless I viewed it on the board. For better or for worse, it feels like they want you to experiment to really see the wide effect of some cards.
@@AlexAdrift yeah I think they absolutely need a practice board where players could test out new cards and decks. I know the stakes against the NPCs are low already but if I’m testing cards I’d prefer a completely open board.

for people complaint about FF7 Rebirth minigame. mini game is MOSTLY OPTIONAL. story pacing is good when you try to do linear. at most you will only find 1 or 2 tower in each region, wont find sanctuary, wont find major minigame which is locked behind protorelic. even catching chocobo isnt mandatory it only required for region 1 as tutorial. and in chapter 8 if you choose to go to skywheel first you will skip all minigame in gold saucer. i choose to play mostly linear at 1st playthrough only interact with side content if i feel it. really good journey, never once the game burn me out. skip corel desert, gongaga, and almost all cosmo canyon at first playthrough, and progress for each region not even close to 50%. really good game as long as you didnt have OCD things - trying to complete it all in first playthrough. fyi, this game replayability is really good, thats why no need to try hard on 1st playthrough. the real playthrough (if you want challenge, like sekiro or elden ring). happen in 3rd playthrough.
( From Junon to Dyne )
However, I see some complaining about optional content which to me insane.
Lol
I liked the mini-game and the potential.
I loathe the Cait Sith box throwing sections with a passion
Yes, it was the worst part of the entire chapter and perhaps the entire game. I didn't rank it however because it didn't have a "score" and was forced on the player. If I did though? Easily last. Lol
I'm quite surprised you rank the piano minigame that high.
Personally, I hate the piano mini game lol. I can only manage to A the first and Tifa's theme while enjoying the music
starting on Barett's theme, there are some notes that's putting me off like that part where you hear 3 notes but you only need to hit the last part.
Yeah, I've actually seen people say they prefer remake over rebirth because rebirth is too big...like what? lol
Rebirth in my opinion has made returning to remake hard because nearly everything has improved and been expanded, save the story of course.
Gears and Gambits should be where Fort Condor is ranked
Fair. They can both be pretty rough
Glide de chocobo deserve the worst… serious I can’t divebomb properly at all
It takes some practice for sure. It can be a nightmare to get those high scores
The best way to play the game is drop to easy burn through story mode doing moderate side quests , beat the game think about it and then use the rest of the world as a sandbox
I think its cool they allow you to do that. If people hate the minigames or pacing due to side content, I would tell them to do your suggestion.
@@AlexAdrift yes no one buys FF for only mini games. Some may like them but it’s not the main draw.
Guides feel like a necessity for some. And I tend to agree, overall, not bad. I'm still excited for part 3.
Does any of the mini game look interesting?
I think most were good, but I'm biased, I loved this game
I just found it to be a nightmare, especially Hard mode. You are clearly a prodigy. 🙏
I've even got rank 3 in lot of em, my saying isn't that they're hard, my saying is there's way too much of it for a game which is story based
@@kingofblackout I think the game can overwhelm the player with them.
I wish I could use my condor pieces I gain the remake I enjoy fort condor but queens blood is fantastic
Yeah, some people liked the Remake Condor but disliked this version. Personally I thought both were good, Rebirth was just more difficult. And I agree, Queen's Blood is great.
You forgot the best mini game in the game. Mushroom pulling! Awful!
I left some off like mushroom picking and chicken hunting since they were 1 time things. Both can be tedious and felt like the devs intentionally making things difficult. They were trolling hardcore with some of the tasks.
The worst mini game by far was the on rails shooter that shit sucked no depth perception and it's really ugly to boot!
At least the rewards were nice compared to some others.
@@AlexAdrift That's true I even finished the can't stop won't stop version but I truly hated that mini game in my opinion the worst I don't think i found the frog jump one or don't remember it!
@@jorgealonso9792 It is in lower Junon. It is more of a troll game than anything.
I honestly disliked most of the mini games. Great game overall, just not a fan of the mini games.
😂😂😂 @ 8:01 😂😂😂
LMAO fort condor is very reliable. The intermission Dlc has a better fort condor
Hate to be that guy but if you think cactuar crush is hard, then you're just bad at the game. It's not nearly as bad as everyone says it is.
I think you like being that guy. Haha
And Yuffie isn't the issue, Aerith's section is rough though. Anytime Aerith is solo, like the double bomb fight, it takes some practice.
Cleared Aerith's "hard" trial first try & very easily, give her hermes shoes, first strike, speed up, luck up & simply spam sorcerous storm, I hit max score long before the timer ran out.
@@michaelneff5794 Yeah, it's just insane a minigame requires a Materia and accessory loadout. Shows they wanted people to think/problem solve.
Didnt use any of that just had my regular build and a First strike materia beat aerith's part pretty easily as well
@@michaelneff5794 I call bs
Interesting ranking. Wrong. But interesting =)
Ha. Thanks
Git gud.
I dispise Queen's Blood. I have no idea how to play despite watching tons of TH-cam videos and repeating the tutorial more times than I care to admit.
@@AlexAdrift and for the colors I have no idea why SE picked colors they did. I guess that’s par for SE, I don’t think they included many (any) accessibility settings.
