It has some flaws, but Rebirth personifies exactly what it means when people say a game can be "magical" in my opinion. There were so many jaw dropping moments for me, like just walking around Cosmo Canyon and breathing in the atmosphere and music was a moment I'll never forget
I agree, my only issue was the multiverse, different timelines none sense. I mean with Remake ending, I thought it was gonna be minor changes… or atkeast things would happen in a different way. But they went straight for certain decisions characters may or may not make would create another new timeline. An I was left just confused as fuk at the end. Everything else was gold tho 💯 gameplay open world mini games it was just when near the end when it got convoluted.
It’s been a while since a single player game caught my attention like this, I bought it expecting to play a little bit then go back to helldivers 2 before really getting into rebirth and damn…I can’t stop playing it lol
@@DistinctionDinoI had to work this weekend but I decided to use a vacation day. That’s how good this shit is. In my 30 years of life on this earth playing games, this game is deff in my top 3 of all time
I never played the OG but I can only imagine what it must feel like to play this as a kid, and then get to experience it like this in adulthood. Especially the environmental changes must be a real treat and incredibly nostalgic
I often wonder while playing how good the experience is if you didnt play the original. This game has endless subtle nods to the ps1 game in the form of OST, sidequests, npc interactions etc. I think if I didn't have experience with the OG game it could seem a bit meh. But maybe that's because this format of open world game has been over-done since the mid 2010's for someone who has played games that entire time, such as myself
As a near-40 year old man, I have to say I really like what they're doing with this Re Trilogy. If I can sum it up it's basically "same destination, different journey", and I find that fascinating. I love FFVII, it's my favorite, and I have faith in Part 3 after seeing this. It's not nearly as convoluted as people think (people also misunderstood Remake for the most part), just going unnecessarily hard into the whole narrative of FFVII. It's a love letter to FFVII basically, made for the fans, and to me, that's super awesome. They made me like these characters and this world even more than I already have. Not a replacement for the original, but a compliment to it basically.
Actually this portion answered a lot of questions for me. Which makes me want to get to the final game. I assume will be in 2027 for the 30th anniversary
hahaha same dude i just think after that hard boss fight im gonna be to old for the real shit in 4-5 years probalby need to play it on easy then hahahaha
It’s totally a love letter to original fans. So many little moments that stick out and just make happy. Like when cloud does that dolphin ride to get up on the platform and you see him crack a little smile when he gets up there - like he secretly had fun with it. In the original at those parts I always just imagined cloud being grumpy and ‘not interested’ - but I feel like how they show those little moments in the remakes really adds to these characters and their personalities. You can tell Square really made this a passion project/love letter.
I find it hilarious that you got the doods for your date sequence. For the Trials in Temple of the Ancients. I was expecting a boss fight for each character. I was gratefully surprised at what they did instead. What they did is so much better than what I was expecting!
As a now 33 year-old who first played this "original" at 9 years old...i felt like this game did justice to the emotions i never thought a 9 year old could experience so early in life. I remember how i felt when i left midgar, when i reached the ranch, when i reached junon, when i crossed the ocean, and when i realized this game was more than any game i had ever played in my entire life (albeit 9 years). This reimaging brings many of the same feelings i felt as that 9 year old. I've been telling many people who have their understandable beef with this game that i view the original as a novel, and we are just experiencing new adaptations. If i want to play a full version of the original, then it's right there for me in thanks to the remastered version (my ps1 and ps2 broke when it came to playing cd-roms in high school. All i wanted was the ability to play the original) This is a wonderful adaptation to an even better overall story. Yes, i have my issues with the tone at times in rebirth, but overal, i love this game, I love this series, and i love the final fantasy IP. i do have my issues here and there, but to act as though the square brand needs to cater to me is selfish. Im an older fan now...make room for the new ones. I can only hope they feel the same magic I felt as a child.
i am 3 years younger than ff7. the first ff i played was 9 when i was around 14 or so, and it was my favorite for a looonnng time; I played 7 but knowing most of the plot beats ahead of time i saw it as a great game but a tad overrated. however, the ad from japan that says ff7 is the memories you have with it is totally true. in the leadup to remake in 2020 it was on my radar but not a big deal since i didn't have a ps4, but a buddy at college who did was looking forward to it even though he had never played the original. when school locked down because of the pandemic and i went home, i convinced him to get the original on steam and stream it to the boys over discord where we could all watch together. eventually he beat it (getting bodied by a tonberry along the way) and when remake dropped I pulled up to his crib and we played the game on the couch. I remember being stunned by the attention to detail with the presentation of the game, down to the music and the way the cutscenes used the same camera angles as the original. it absolutely captivated my imagination in a way the original just didn't, and the ending had my brain whirring to see what would happen next. I have been waiting for rebirth ever since. fast forward to now and I bought a ps5 to play this game. because of some stuff in my personal life the themes about grief and memories have really resonated with me in a new way and I was every bit as captivated as it seems like people were in 1997 when this story was first told. the magic is most definitely still alive
Having finally finished the game. This is one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. It took me 100 hours to finish the story and regions and I never felt myself getting burnt out. It is genuinely staggering the amount of content in this game, and it’s of such high quality too in terms of music and presentation. It makes Remake feel like the tutorial level.
About the shinra Villa bit, there is a section where you must find the code to open the door. As a 1990 ff7 veterinary with like 17 finished 100% runs (outside of materia grinding thanks to knights of the round) I tryed the og code on the door, imagine my surprise and laughter of pure joy wen it actually worked.
i thought that it was a homage to old fans but it turns out that they simply used the same code and you could find the code in shinra villa itself behind some boxes, feelsbadman
@@namo2403why isn’t it both? Reusing the old code is clearly an homage and fun wink towards old fans, but what, new players aren’t allowed to progress because they didn’t know the code from OG? I guess I’m not understanding why you’re disappointed by this.
@@namo2403 i know where you're coming from, they could have made 2 separate codes, a new one people had to find, and the OG one as well but with a smale suprise.
Having never played either version of this game, hearing about and seeing snippets of these adventures in these diverse locations, it sounds really epic and magical.
Yeah. Of all the attempts Hollywood has made to nostalgia bate everyone. It pales in comparison to this. There is nothing else like it, but ff7 was my 1 game I completed fully in my life. So it especially hits hard for me. 😊
This is actually pretty easy to undertand, thanks to your summary. I haven't played the OG, so most of the time, I'm just going with the flow. With that being said, I still got hit pretty hard during that Aerith scene, and her looking at the Bronco flying away. I think they really did a good job with the characterization of the whole group, especially Aerith and Tifa, that it just hurts to see Tifa's reactions towards the end. And then there's Cloud. Completely mentally broken imo, and tbh, I really fear for the safety of the group with him in this condition. I have grown to love this cast of characters and I can't wait how it'll all turn out.
@@patrolaclipagens Sorry if my comment triggered your lack of understanding and unwillingness to understand something you don't really care about. @@eriponchi lol calm down bro it's just a videogame, go watch some animes and eat cheetos or sum lol or even open a book so you can understand a videogame 😂😂😂
Chicken side quest. That is the real divider between the fans, not the fluffs. For real though, the side quests are the real gem of this game. I think it would be amiss to not mention the Gilgamesh quest line. But all other side quests are worth it, just Cloud having bonding time with his friends.
It's clear how much better than remake rebirth is when you look at what people are complaining about tbh...... In remake, the biggest complaints are entire chapters like the claw arm segment of chapter 8, the first and second sewer visit, the drum, etc. All long chapter problems. In rebirth the biggest complaints I'm seeing are a couple skippable bad apples in the bunch of amazing side quests. Cloud not getting wet in water is one I saw a lot too. Rebirth is so amazing that the biggest most noticeable flaws are tiny unimportant things.... Of course people will complain about the story no matter what happens, but these are gameplay things.
I'm on team "the chicken sidequest is the best quest" lol. You have to realise that the devs knew it was going to frustrate the fuck out of us, trolled us with that last chicken, then gave us that hilarious ending as pay off to appreciate it.
The original was made in a time when gamers didn't need everything spelled out to them. It didnt need sephiroth showing up all the time to show he was a threat.
Exactly! Sephiroth was so mystic and brought a real sense of danger every time he showed up. The current games make him seem more like a rapey stalker with incessant overexposure.
Loved the original; one of my favorite games of all time. Loved Remake and Rebirth, also one of my favorite games of all time! I’m here for the ride and to see where we end up. We will always have the original so I’m glad they are taking liberties with the remake. The wait for the third part in the remake will be brutal!
One part I found interesting about the Final Fight was the way the First Phase with Jenova Lifebringer plays out. You start the fight with the sad theme playing and only 2 allies fighting with you, reminiscent to the OG fight where you could only have 3 people fight. However, no matter how fast you might take down Jenova's HP, she will always knock out your 2 allies from the fight. When Jenova fires her lasers and rips a rift into the shadow your party rejoins you however their attitude doesn't match with how they should be feeling, they act more upbeat and jovial for a group who just saw one of their allies die. With that in mind, I think when the team comes back into the fight Cloud is actually fighting with the group where Aerith lived, hence they are fighting as if she is still alive. Then when that phase ends Cloud disappears and I think he becomes the only one aware of the "Aerith Alive" reality, when we come back to Cloud's group later on I think that's the group from the Aerith's dead reality considering what Barret says at the start of the fight. It was just an interesting observation I made when I was rewatching the scene, I don't think the fight is happening in a linear fashion, it is definitely switching between realities but I'm pretty sure we're also seeing our allies fight from 2 different realities. There is also that strange disconnect when Cloud is with the group and Aerith wakes up, for some reason he's the only one left in the reality, which makes me wonder if during the 2nd phase of the Jenova Lifebringer fight, when the world is crumbling and they are jumping from platform to platform, the rest of the group ended up dying there. . . and Cloud was the only one to come out alive because he was the only one to go into the rift to save her, in which he's sent to fight Sephiroth but only awoken when Zack touches him. It's definitely going to be interesting to see how they plan to roll things out when they start releasing teasers but man, 3-4 yrs before that is going to be such a pain.
Man, I'm gonna have to rewatch this to check out some of what you're saying. Some people will hate it, but I will be absolutely floored if they manage to make it so "If you do x and y and z just right, you can rez Aerith" because that is such an old school rumor that absolutely haunted the community for so many years and if they Suikoden all 108 stars that shit I will be ecstatic.
And don't forget that even if you beat the fight he still one shots you and you have to do it all over again. I like this game man but don't talk about that final boss like it had any meaning when they made it that cheap
@@manwithballsonarm6775 FF games have always had "cheap" mechanics in them. That said, I'm not sure what you're referring to regarding the one shot mechanic in the final fight? There are people up who have done "solo" fights using HP>
I like that you're making this comparison in-depth videos between classic games and remasters/remakes, you should think about doing a series about this, it's good.
The game does a lot of weird stuff, especially towards the end, but overall I’d say it was very solid and greatly expanded on the characters, which I’d say is one of the best things they could do. It won’t be everyone’s thing, but I’m totally for it
@@captainpep3That's the same approach for KH story, the fans are mostly just waiting how crazier they can make the lore while being more hyped for the gameplay and i really don't like that this is what they made with FF7. I like FF7R but at the same time i consider it inferior to the original since they really undermined what made it special (the themes, atmosphere and certain bits of the story that were worse on Remake due to the more Hollywood/Average Anime/KH approach they did on certain things) which is a shame since Remake is mostly better on everything, especially when it comes to the characters interactions and Gameplay, i really wish they never added the Whispers things and kept Sephiroth the way he was on the original only adding a *few* more than they did so far, or at very least, introduced him on Rebirth. A 1:1 Story Remake with the gameplay changes could've easily been one of the best games of all time.
@@stampoulisrafael5262It's my opinion, 1997 FF7 is in my opinion a better game because i like the narrative and visuals of it more, if it wasn't for the Remake's questionable choices when dealing with Sephiroth's character, Whispers and the endings, it would've been better than the original for me, unfortunately Rebirth's ending made me see the original as better unless on Part 3 they pull up a extremely well thought and incredible story which i really doubt, with that said, Gameplay wise and obviously graphics wise, Remake is way better than the original.
You know you're old when you can't get past the fact that they didn't keep the turn-based/ATB combat system. For me its what made the game great, I can't get on with this new implumentation/hack'n'slash
If Aerith is your date in chapter 7 … which gets interrupted … will she the date in chapter 12? Aerith was my goal because I view her as a much better character than Tifa.
@@BakesBread001Well twelve days later lol but no it can change depending on the bond level. I'm pretty sure the date that gets interrupted can only be with Aerith or Tifa however the actual date can be between any party member except Cait Sith, if for whatever reason your relationship is low with everyone you get a different scene though imo it's not worth going for all the one on one's are better.
@@CrazyxEnigma yes I progressed to the date scene just today in chapter 12 and I kept Aerith. It was a nice scene. But in hindsight, it doesn’t matter who you get.

I personally don't like multiverse stories when the different universes/timelines intersects and stuff. I feel it usually takes away the gravity and stake of any situation in the story because you get the feeling there's always a copout or solution in "another" timeline or universe. I still like the game. It's fun and the side minigames really brought me back to the good old days of JRPGs in the early 2000s where the side stuff were fun. And I think the FF7 story is told much better in Rebirth than OG. But I feel the alternate timeline thing did not add anything to the story at all. It's so much more relatable when it's just a delusion in Cloud's head.
Loved OG, thought Rebirth was a 9/10 My criticisms: 1. Some disappointment with return to Nibelheim segment (unexplorable shinra mansion replaced by generic shinra basement areas, dragged out cait sith part, combination code puzzle absent in a game with 50 minigames. Overall could have been way better. Vincent battle was an amazing touch though) 2. Can't return to Upper Junon outside of Ch 4 (I understand they didn't want to code an idle state for the entire town but it's a bummer) 3. Too many identical tower/bus stop/mako spring experiences and too many chadley interruptions 4. No quick materia character swaps and loadout saving 5. Tonally much more upbeat from the original. I do prefer the darker and more depressing atmosphere of the original and thus the remakes feel lacking in some parts. For example, was expecting the prison desert to have the lonely/hopeless feeling here instead of a comedic road warrior styled place. 6. Whiplash in moments where it should let you sit longer to absorb the weight of what happened. Dyne's death is the obvious example. Going from Jenova to Zack and Sephiroth at endgame is the other big one. 7. Technical issues that ruin emotional moments. Allowing characters to comment as if in normal battle in the end Jenova fight was an awful oversight. 8. Some convoluted storytelling in moments where I imagine new players won't have the patience to figure out what is happening
I finally beat the game a few days ago and this was a very nice trip down memory lane. I have not played the original since it originally came out and am pleasantly surprised to see so much of it faithfully recreated/expanded upon in Rebirth. I'm on the side "this is a great game" but agree the timeline aspect is very confusing (made even more so from videos pointing out that there are as many as 6+ timelines actually seen in the game). I'm hoping they offer a satisfying explanation in part 3, but even if they don't there's no denying the gameplay, design, and acting continue to be superb and this will likely remain one of my top games ever.
Played the PS1 version as a kid and loved remake and rebirth. There are definitely reasons I can see for people not liking the changes, but I know as a kid the death scene hit me hard, and with these multiverse changes I thought I knew the whole game to just expect the death, then for a moment they got me and I believed it had changed just to have it ripped away again and it hit me in the feelings again. I personally am a fan of time/multiverse shenanigans in stories, so the changes are something I love assuming things tie up in the end. too many loose ends could hurt the third game, but I'm hoping there is a vision in place to tie it all together. Given how much I felt like a 9 year old again exploring the world and seeing some of my favorite characters fleshed out, I'm willing to wait and see and just enjoy what we have now without worrying about future execution.
@@davidm4677 no she didn't she joined with the lifestream and helped defend the planet that way but didn't come back to life in a way that undoes her death
I was really enjoying the video up until I got to the halfway point. I had to stop watching right where I am in the main scenario quests and will have to return later to see the rest. Great video! (I think?) 😂
I honestly love how they are doing everything. Like the ending has me so curious. Like does cloud even realize wtf is going on with him or is he so mentally shattered hes just going through the motions? The OG will always be there and i still have fond memories from when i was a 6 year old experiencing it all for the first time. I am 100% on board with whatever comes next with this trilogy cause its just so new that its giving me the same dopamine i had playing as a child!
That’s the one part I love how Rebirth closed out showing to the audience and players in Chapter 13 how out of it and psychotic Cloud was becoming in the ancient temple and slowly and slowly not trusting himself which closes out good to question the players on him and his behavior especially at the credits scene with him putting the black materia in the buster sword making people wonder, hopefully they open it well towards the beginning of part 3 and accurate how Cloud tells the party and gang how he doesn’t trust himself and talks of Sephiroth controlling him and advising that he should hand over the black materia to either Barret or nanaki, it could play out so well
Did you love how they made 70 hours of the game boring repetitive horrible side content. I mean that was so fun right climbing those towers. Running around the map picking up material. And who can forget getting from point a to point b and getting the item and fight the mob and the turn the quest in
I've played the original as a child, adolescent and grown-up, many times on different platforms. It was, is and will always be my all-time favourite game. The nostalgy, the magic, the story, the emotions. These remakes are gorgeous, it's fun to visit all these places in "modern times" and are incredibly boring to play. What a drag... It's like an ubisoftgame. No real open world anymore, but divided in regions which are all as generic as they come. Unlock some towers, few missions, fight some enemies and reach certain conditions, ... The filler in the story is immense, proportional to the boredom while playing this snail of a game. I've finally finished it and was relieved to delete this from my SDD...
I think they have done a great job. Keeping the story similar while also making it new. I really wish they didn't change reds voice... that was crushing.
Just wanna say its *not* impossible to cross the swamp without a chocobo, its just stupidly hard and requires a lot of precision and luck lol Will also say, I personally loved the ending, I got a lil confused with the reality jump at the end but I figured it out by the credits XD
I got lucky my very first time, the snake caught up to me JUST as I reached the coast, another fraction of a second and he would have had me! I never could do it again and had to use the chocobo after that.
As someone who played the OG as a kid, I love these new games. I will say I did get incredibly annoyed in sections of Rebirth (and remake) that were clearly there just to pad out game time. I would rather get the point, and have a shorter game, than do nonsense task that feel like a chore. But what makes me love the game is the story and camaraderie with you and your friends. It's easy to immerse yourself in this world and get attached to the characters, just like you do with people in reality. I found myself making certain choices with game characters just because I wanted the best outcome for them (just like I would with real friends). I kept reminding myself that how I treated people in game didn't actually matter because these are not real people haha. All in all I had a great time minus the filler tasks, and I am really looking forward to part 3. For those of you upset about the story changes, I would say you just need to look at this as a different game. Think of it as a "what if" game. If you still don't enjoy the game after separating this from the og, then you just don't like the game and that's ok!
Rebirth is such a massive game it’s hard to keep up with certain parts and set pieces they’ve given a glow up or changed around from the original, especially if you haven’t played the original in a while like me. I do respect you for calling out some filler parts as Remake had filler parts too such as making you go through the Midgar Sewers a second time, but all that aside I’m glad you were able to make this a decent length video for a huge game like Rebirth and explaining all the changes and comparisons.
As a game it’s absolutely a blast, best final fantasy in a long long time, handsdown. Despite some annoying flaws and performance issues. I dont say its a bad game at all because of those flaws. But As a reimagining of the og i have to say i had mixed feelings. Some things they changed a little too much, no boss battle theme from the og, and the very complicated ending tbat confuses people. Still a masterpiece tho
PS1 FF7 had a way of creating a surprise out of interruption, Over preparation for all boss battles was an amazing way playing the story of this game. What rebirth and remake have removed which wasn't bad it was just special to always have that moment where limit break is ready and then priming the ability knowing it was about to deliver 9999 dmg in the coolest showcasing fashion is something sorely missed. Just a personal opinion and the team at square enix have done amazing none the less. Just classic ff7 has that whole total idea that this is something worth taking the time to play element down packed.
It really makes you realize how much better things were back then…. Also it was $40 for 4 discs, an entire story, amazing graphics (for the time) completely original characters, and a legacy to last for decades to come …. Not $400 for a half assed “modern” reboot fetch quest minigame mess released in 5 different parts.
Being able to experience the world and story like this was one of the most amazing video game experiences in my life. I never would have imagined that I'd see such a thing like this happen. Nearly everything was just how i would have wanted it to be. My only true complaint was everything that happened after the trials in the Temple. Things just carried on for too long and got weird. Aerith's death scene was a big miss for me, it was just taken over by Whsipers and then an overwhelming series of battles and multiverse stuff that by the time it's done it's just like, "oh yeah, Aerith died". She didn't even get to have the iconic funeral. We also didn't get to explore the Forgotten Capital. Nearly everything else in the game was fantastic, so it's hard to be too disappointed. The game took me 131 hours to finish and I had the best time seeing so many familiar places brought into a new life. This game really brought joy back into my life that I haven't felt in ages.
This is the first video I've seen where someone finally seems to have understood that Aerith died, other videos I've seen people don't understand or believe that he is seeing Aerith from another dimension, maybe I'm wrong about that, but to me, it seemed clear that Aerith actually died, but Cloud, who never had the sanest mind in the world, did not accept her death and believes that he managed to save her.
My man Cloud covered the trauma of Zack dying by erasing his death from memory and thinking he is him, I’m pretty sure having another huge trauma of Aerith dying would make him severely in denial and likewise erase any memory of her dying and thinking she just left the group at the end of the game
From what I understood Aertith lives in some way shape or form and Cloud will be reunited with her. She says something to the tune that she's going deeper into the world of Ancients to look for Seph and from what I understood Cloud intends to follow her there eventually.
oh, I remember there was a set of videos that had the OG camera angles comparing FF VII Remake to the OG FF VII. Good stuff. Also shows what amazing attention to detail the SquareEnix devs had for recreating the new environments.
I am glad they were faithful to the original with one main element and that is my biggest memory from the original not being Knights of the Round Mimic or getting the Black chocobo and that fun racing mini game to do all the hard end game sidequests but actually one thing i loved even more was that snake in the marsh desert you have to use the chocobo because he is too hard to kill part at the very beginning of D2 TY for this great video comparison nice job sir!! I really hope they do justice to what made the original so amazing to me and the reason i played it like 7 times all the stuff done and that is the addictive nature of the final few side quests to get the best materia yellow and red mostly
I DONT think Cloud is seeing a spirit form of Aerith. I think he actually created a new timeline where she didn't die. If you go back and rewatch the moments after sephiroth's descending stab attack, it shows you his sword in the ground. Then it flashes quickly to another shot where you see the blood emerge. If you actually compare those two shots, they're 2 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. The sword is stuck in a different place in the ground AND at a completely different angle. To me that looks like they were showing us the 2 completely different outcomes of that event. It also explains why Cloud can see the tear in the sky but the others can't. If that's what they're doing, it does seem like something which will naturally fit into Cloud's whole identity crisis that will happen quite soon into the third part.
@@rexwest4532 That part makes sense in both theories though. We'd already seen examples of both Cloud and Aerith sensing Zack in the other timeline in different ways.
I feel like the answer is that Cloud saved her in a new timeline but she still died in the Prime one that we play. Cloud knows this and will want it thus making him succumb to Sephiroth's will ("Let us defy Destiny together.") but he will ultimately have to accept that in his world Aerith died. I think we are going to go through the five stages of grief - right now Cloud is in denial so he repressed certain parts of Aerith's death that we didn't see yet. The Sephiroth clones will lead him to anger but Sephiroth's plan will lead to bargaining. Falling for Sephiroth's tricks will lead to depression along with knowing that Sephiroth's plan will probably bring Aerith to an end in every world (as she's a thorn in his side) which will be part of him being comatose. Tifa helping him bring his mind back in the Lifestream will probably go further by helping him deal with all of his regrets and lead him to acceptance that the Aerith of his world is dead and they'll keep the timelines separated. Aerith will probably go to other timelines and attempt to get stronger to stop Meteor where she will most likely reunite with Zack and some Cetra thing will teach her Great Gospel that she will use on Cloud for the final fight at the Edge of Creation that leads to Cloud using Omnislash (as Cloud is invincible in that moment - an effect Great Gospel has).
Everyone is thinking this has something to do with different timelines but they're all wrong. What is one of the overall themes of ff7 and its media? The fallibility of memory. At the end of Advent Children Sephiroth says "I will never be JUST a memory". What is the LifeStream? According to Remake it is the collective memory of the planet. The ancients could communicate with that and the arbiters of fate ensured that the memory (lifestream is everything that was and is and will be) stayed accurate. Sephiroths "remnant" is attempting to rewrite the planets memory for some reason (presumably his final victory over cloud) after the party defeats the arbiter which appears to be trying to contain sephiroth meddling (he appears to have some measure of control over them) and after his defeat he explodes into a mass of them. If you get the cutscene with Aerith in remake she tells cloud not to fall in love with her because "it isnt real". What i am trying to say is that the entire remake trilogy is taking place IN the lifestream. Its the memory of the planet itself being corrupted and changed by sephiroth thats why aerith who is part ancient is partially aware of whats going on. Its also why the "other timelines" exist because its the plants memory fucking up from the changes being made after the arbiter is destroyed. @@writer_man5318
@@writer_man5318 interesting theory there. I think its Aerith is still around to help Cloud from falling apart. In Niebleheim, Cloud is concerned about his solder cells degrading and Tifa and Aerith are telling him that it won't happening. You see in Advent Children Cloud is living with the guilt of Aerith`s death. Aerith is still around to help Cloud and Tifa will help Cloud like she did in the OG. Where he accepts his real memories.
It sucks how Fort Condor is blocked from the game. It’s supposed to be happen between Junon and the Yuffie hunt. It sucks how you don’t to have let Yuffie tag along after the boss fight for her, because that’s completely removed! And Yuffie herself shows up in Junon.
I think the marsh Zolom moment in the og game was one of the most memorable moment in the entire game It served 3 important purposes, 1st it was the game’s way to tell us ok now you are out in the open world, shit is wild and you may stumble onto ennemies much stronger than you so be careful where you step into 2nd, it was also a testimony of Sephiroth’s strength (which we still didn’t know much about at this point in the og game) We’ve been warned about this extremely dangerous and powerful snake, and when we see it for the 1st time, it’s been completely annihilated by Sephiroth, seemingly effortlessly , which really made you feel how strong and terrifying Sephiroth was And finally, later in the game after dozens of hours when you came back to the marshes and finally fought the snake, you actually wiped it out like it was nothing, and it really made you feel like so much had happened since you first were here, and you could really feel how strong you got and how long the journey has been, which really was a powerful feeling Unfortunately the Rebirth sequence does none of that, and make it look and feel like your average action packed boss fight (I loved the game though)
Yep however given the party has already fought Sephiroth in the Remake timeline the way of building up Sephiroth into a threat the original did is pointless to repeat. However they could've done a better job with what ended up happening imo.
@@CrazyxEnigma Sure, but that was not my point I did not advocate for Rebirth to redo the same sequence, I just pointed out that what an iconic scene in the og game was now a fairly average scene in Rebirth, that’s not the same thing
I disagree. In the original, the snake was a threat because you'd lose if you tried to fight it. In Rebirth, you fight it... and the party loses. You can't beat it. Like, Cloud is actually going to die. So it still does that. Point 2 you mention seeing the snake completely annihilated by Sephiroth effortlessly - again, that happens in Rebirth and you literally see how effortless it is for him. So it still does that. The only thing the game doesn't do is let you go back and fight it later, but it's entirely possible they'll put that in part 3. So it still does 2/3 of the purposes you mention, and might do the third later.
Love it, thank you for this video. FF7 was my first FF game. I was 16 years old. At first I wished the remakes were more like the original, but in order to make three seperate games with an ending story line to each, I think the developers came to the absolutely best conclusion so far. At least they can stick to the story line in the final game while still making sense of the two previous installments.
One of the most disappointing things about Remake/Rebirth was that they couldn't leave quiet moments as just that; they always had to turn everything into some grandiose event. I'm also pissed they cut Bone Village completely and didn't let you explore Forgotten Capital.
They might still add it in part 3. I'm pretty sure we should've been able to go to Wutai aswell, and they confirmed we'd be able to in part 3 instead. Iirc
@@Klearith You talking about Bone Village or Forgotten Capital? In the original game you go back to Forgotten Capital with Bugenhagen to use the Key to the Ancients so I'm not sure how they're going to do that with it being destroyed. As far as Bone Village goes, I'm hoping they use it as a means of getting into the Ancient Forest at least
I am a HUGE Ff7 OG fan. But I have to say the new fighting system completely ruined this game for me. I don't understand how nobody else seems to be affected by it.
I dont like it either. I quit playing final fantasy after 10. I gave 12 a chance and made it like half way through the game before i quit playing it. 13 i didnt make it very far before i said nope lol. I miss the old school turn style final fantasy. Idk why they ever went away from made it im the first place
I really like what they've done with the "remake" in giving us a fan service filled pseudo-sequel. They were never going to recapture the exact magic and vibe that OG FF7 had when it first came out, and having recently replayed it for the first time in over 20yr it really is far too simplistic to have gotten away with just a graphical upgrade. The only sad thing is newcomers to the game are still missing out on that. Maybe once Part 3 is released they might give us a true remake since all the assets will have been made already. I'd be surprised if modders don't at least give it a go.
Only played the original after finishing Remake, wanted to know where the story would be going. It was fun to see the differences, like some sort of reverse nostalgia. I've had a blast with Rebirth, but I do find the ending a bit confusing. I hope it'll all make sense in the 3rd game, with a satisfying conclusion.
I have a relatively low tolerance for overly complex twists upon twists that are kind of standard fare in JRPGs. I think FFVII is a powerful story that is kind of archetypal and I don't know that it is enhanced by all of this extra. That said, its beautiful and obviously done with a lot of love.
I think whats most important at the end of the day is despite how much insane shit happened in the last hour or whatever even, we still end in the same place, dunno what the eventual end result will be of all the multiple worlds stuff, and how they'll even find time to explore all of it while also staying on the main normal path of things, but regardless of any changes or flashes to other outcomes and possibilities, we will still start part 3 in a world where aerith is gone for us, even if there's a version of the events and a world where she did get to live, its not the one we will live in, I think they just did all that just to show people that in someway shape or form in another life, she lived
Man, I love these games so goddamn much. I really hope Part 3 of the Remake won't take more than 3 years to release, it's so close at getting completed.
It would be so sick if they can do 7/7/27 but I doubt just a little over 3 years is enough, as much as I wanna say they can reuse a lotta the same maps, I don't think most of it will be 1-1 anyways, even if some town layouts should and will stay the same, cus especially if they have to make the highwind be playable, there's gonna need to be some serious tweaking to how the areas really connect, and I doubt we can just land it anywhere flat so there will be dedicated landing pads or something
This game really brought back memories. I love how they flushed out the other characters and towns. I like the multiverse spin but I admit it is a little difficult to follow. It was unclear to me who was alive in which universe at the end. I thought the visuals on this game were all top notch. Took me a while to beat, I unfortunately don’t have the free time that I used to.
Rebirth (and Remake) are way more faithful than people give them credit for. Many of the "changes" are just expansions on the original that only add, not contradict. The few changes that are actual changes seem to mostly affect just an alternate reality. The overall plot and events of both remake games are still mostly identical to the original, just with huge over-the-top endings stitched on to make them feel like full games.
True though, and however it ends up being in the end of all things, I think the multiple worlds angle is just to give people who want to see certain characters alive a way to be able to SEE that in canon, while also having the main timeline still hit all the same beats, there's something to be said about how much budget is being used for that stuff that could be used elsewhere, but still lol
they're not just cause they go to the same location doesn't mean they're faithful, that's just nostalgia baiting the reality is they are not even faithful in the slightest due to all the changes story is completely different, pacing of events is scattered, the open areas are meaningless and better off gone open world padding changes to resolution of character arcs (more to Barret's friend than anything) devaluing the moment entirely - from a somber goodbye to a needless "sacrifice" that was never needed stop eating up slop
I was born in 1997 and my uncle played this while I watch in early 2000s. Playstation played a huge part in my child and I'm playing this again as a 26 yr old working adult, child at heart
I'm one of those people who liked the ending. But my interpretation of it is different, I haven't watched any explanation videos yet. (SPOILERS AHEAD) In that scene where he explains things he mentions that when fate is changed realities are split. His plan was to converge those realities to one. But then it became a question on if saving aerith or letting her die was good for the planet or not. I'm gonna say saving her would have helped. But letting her die would have aligned the realities and given sephiroth a chance to try things again and succeed completely with all the parameters familiar. But instead it seems like cloud succeeded in saving aerith, so in the end there's no convergence of the realities. There's a reality where he fails, which is what we see mainly and it seems like what sephiroth intended for after he fails is still happening (which is why he's acting weird, and has the black materia), and a reality where he succeeded, and zack is alive cause it's not fixed. In short, sephiroth (or maybe Aerith) is fucking with fate, and it's causing a lot of fuckery. And cloud managing to save aerith at least in one reality means the fuckery is not over.
So you traded a poignant and emotional character-moment for a theory-crafting session. Whoop-de-doo, is SE's Marketing Department going to Love Yoouuu.
@@Flopdoodle Nothing was traded, the OG was a masterpiece for its time and still holds up well. The "Remake" made it clear that they will reimagine the story and not just retell it, so nothing is safe. And honestly I love that approach, the original doesn't run away and the Remake trilogy is finally telling a new story which makes the games way more worth imo. It's way better straight up saying that they change a lot instead of just getting hate and complaints because a scene wasn't as truthful to the original as it could be.
Thats the thing though, if you play the game it makes a concentrated effort to make you relate to Aerith a lot more. The game knows you know she's going to die and hell even tells you out right multiple times. And that's probably one of the most significant story beats to people outside the ending itself. It IS an emotional moment, it all has a lot of build up. It's a lot less okay that she dies. And that mentality is echoed in the conclusion of this. I don't know where they're going to take it, but it's a plot thats not trying to sell you on surprises you already know. And I enjoy that a lot. @@Flopdoodle
IMO I probably wouldn't enjoy the game as much if i knew exactly everything that was going to happen. I bought crisis core and skipped it cause it's just the same game but zack's VA doesn't fit near as well lmao. I can just enjoy myself having this be so unique.@@natsudragniel7466
Rebirth is my favorite game of the last decade! I don't mind the story changes, it needs to be seen how it concludes. Keep in mind how many sequels prequels FF7 has including movies, so the story is already confusing as it is. Can't wait for the finale.
Max Mittleman, Red XIII’s voice actor, just has range. On one hand, you have the old and wise voice that we got used to for Red. On the other hand, when you reach Cosmo Canyon, you have Red turn into Ryuji Sakamoto from Persona 5.
In the end of the game, we're shown 5 different timelines. Most of which aren't really that important, but are shown more so as an example of what Sepheroth is talking about when he explains timelines branching apart and eventually converging. Each timeline is distinct by it's breed of dog the Shinra propaganda dog is. The timelines we see are as follows. *Beagle Stamp* - The prime timeline that the main party exist in. *Terrier Stamp* - The timeline where Zack is displaced into the end of Remake and rescues Aerith and Cloud. This Zack ultimately goes up Shinra tower. *Pug Stamp* - Instead of going up Shinra tower, Zack goes to see Biggs at Reactor 6. *Shiba Stamp* - Zack is indecisive and instead goes to the church where he encounters Sephiroth. This is the Zack who tumbles into the lifestream and finds his way into the prime timeline to fight alongside Cloud. *Collie Stamp* - A version of Zack's timeline where Aerith and Cloud from the prime timeline manifest and go on a date in Sector 6. 5 timelines in total. But ultimately the Zack we fight alongside is the Shiba timeline version.
The original handled the giant snake in the swamp alot better because it made Sephiroth appear much stronger. In the original, it was impossible to kill it, then when you cross the swamp, later on you find its mangled corpse wrapped around a tree, a piece of art, Snakewood by Sephiroth
Having played the OG back when i was a kid and this now, i genuinely don't get why would some of these "fans" trash ff7R like it's some worthless piece of sh1t... for me it's so great to see my childhood expanded, with a lot of the characters interactions and scenes added and the vast open world reimagine. Yes there may be some flaws like world exploration intel or mini game thing being too tedious for some, but other than that it's a very enjoyable journey thus far since i don't focus too much on those side stuffs now, not to mention the music itself, it's just so good
And compare it to some other $70 games released recently. FF7 rebirth is a very good game. Beautiful and playable from day one. Unlike Starfield, Saints Row, forspoken, Justice league, etc.
Idk, I don’t see a lot of people who have a problem with this game other than the performance mode being blurry, but at the same time they can very small but vocal to the point where they act like they know how to develop a game or that they know what is best for a brand they didn’t even make. My point is that they did such an excellent job with rebirth and I would go as far as to say that this the best final fantasy game/also JRPG ever, and a lot of other people agree. I would just hate to see false or unnecessary criticism being sent to the developers and not having the next game be as large in scale because of the small but very vocal problems people may have about the open world or story. I’ve seen this happen where unnecessary criticism was being provided and so by the next game they scrap everything good and fun all together. I’m not saying the game is perfect because there’s always room for improvement, nor am I worshipping them as if they can do nothing wrong. I just love how they made this game is all and don’t want the next game to be downgraded from rebirth. The problems I have aren’t criticisms, they are just nitpicks that I have with the game because it’s just me being me 💀. Nitpicking in my opinion, isn’t criticism. I know I’m probably going to get grilled regardless.
Honestly if you wanna hear some genuine criticism from someone who still loved the game I got one word for you: Chadley 💀 like I'm sorry but I liked him so much more when he was just a lil side thing for materia and had some goofy one off lines that were actually kinda funny sometimes, but on hear just think about how many lines he has where they coulda had the party interacting more instead, like I don't wanna hear chadley yapping about 32 lifesprings or towers when we could have things in the open world that call for more interaction and banter between the cast we actually care about, I loved all the sidequests cus they're exactly that, but I really hope we can get less chadley in the next one, especially if the world is gonna be in a doomsday event after a certain point I don't wanna hear his little goofy music in every town when I run past and have him being all cheery and silly about world intel, they can keep him around but please tone it down yknow 💀
I personally am enjoying the whole thing of being generally the same as the original but also expanded with some differences. I think the divergence from the original is a large part of why i was legitimately surprised at aeriths cetra alter scene in rebirth. FF 7 wasnt a part of my childhood but having played the original, crisis core reunion, remake and rebirth all for the first time as a 23 year old i think this is a good way to do a remake when the original is a completly different gameplay genre and is also equally (or honestly more) available other than pricing debates. It also does a lot to in my eyes make it look like final fantasy is celebrating its past but not stuck and dragged down by it.
"No promises await at journey's end" is pretty fitting for the ending of part 2. Part 1 and now even part 2 have made it clear we don't want to tell the old classic we will reimagine it. Nothing will be safe or sure. Aerith literally died at the end, yet she also didn't die. Zack died in 1 more reality, while he's taking his fate in his hand in the other reality and again in another reality he meets Sephiroth In front of the church, while Aerith is pushing cloud through the rift. Aerith will live in Part 3, but probably won't be in the main universe we're playing and maybe all universes will have a reunion with the outcome of all characters surviving or even all characters dying. Zack also shouts to Cloud to save Aerith which would make no sense, if they just killed her off for good right afterwards.
Yeah, they have been butchering a classic for two parts now and it will probably get even worse in the third part. It is such a shame and waste of potential.
@@loto7197 Bad writing has turned away a lot of players, so I wouldn't say it is engaging. Square should have taken inspiration from Capcom. The remakes of the Resident Evil games are great, they change some of the events but do it with respect, they expand the world and add new story elements to it, yet they serve the story well and fit in. Unfortunately what they have done with FF7 remakes is the complete opposite.
All this shows is they’ve turned FF7 into a theme park with nostalgia bait rides in between the story bits. It’s not impossible to adapt a story with new ideas and new directions, just look at the differences between Lynch and Villeneuve’s Dune films. The problem is I think Square Enix feels like they know better, like how modern Disney feels like their films are more profound than they really are. Doing something new is fine, but after a point it feels more like the original is being mocked or parodied rather than adapted.
I won't lie, it's very frustrating to see so many comments praising this game and seemingly comparing rebirth to the original with no friction or critique. I feel the entire tone and vibe of the journey was completely ruined, packed with filler, and jammed cringe and out of place characters into my experience with no option to opt out.. Combat: Great Music: Amazing Graphics: On point, some settings like Junon and the cannon gave excellent sense of scale. Other places seemed like they just.. grabbed whatever assets they had sitting around and packed them in. Costa de Sol was agony.. Story direction: Terrible.. Character interactions: Uncanny valley of dialogue, and everybody is flailing around like if they don't get a word in and animatedly spin, dip, twist, and gesture wildly they will literally die. About 75% of it is cringe and nobody seems to really acknowledge the severity of what they are doing, more like.. they are going on a vacation and seeing the sights. I would have refunded the game if it was possible.
The two key moments that define this game (and potentially the entire trilogy) for me is Aeriths performance and the scene at the very end where her "spirit" see them off. The steps to go between those moments are complex and cryptic and questionably presented, but its amazing. They make the sequence so needlessly complicated, and yet it immediately brings a starker display about what Aeriths motivations are and what her sacrifice is for. Despite being one of my favorite FF iterations, FF7 is such a patchwork project that sells a rather contrived plot with vibes and art direction. Its paradoxically so technically boundary pushing and yet so derivative of the games that came before it, and one of the consequences is that they establish such great characters that get so few moments, and such awkward pacing. And the biggest victim of this is Aerith, a deep and complex character who unfortunately and ironic to her struggle, spends most of the game being motivation for other characters. This trilogy is about her, not specifically saving her because who knows where the hell this journey will end, but redeeming her. Letting the character behind so many 10 year olds first narative gut punch stand to scrutiny. I mean its also a messy and catastrophic attempt to make Before Crisis, Crisis Core, First Soldier/Evercrisis, Dirge of Cerberus, and Advent Children into one consistent canon, but thats beside the point. The bit where Cloud finds hes still in possession of the black materia and instinctually hides from the rest of the team is... Its just a cool set up. The entirety of the greater FF7 series does not know subtlety, even OG, and Im here for it. I will choose dumb and interesting over serious and reserved any fucking day of the week.
I was quite simply blown away by this game and had soooo much fun with it, the only part I was not as impressed with was the final hour or so where it did have me rolling my eyes at how many phases I had to beat of a character I didn’t feel like I should be fighting yet.
The OG FF7 has a very straight forward story and I think that’s part of the reason why it did better than most final fantasy. We’re not here for multiverses, back to the future or avengers. Overall, it’s still better than none.

Naturally there is a lot more detail in Rebirth, but I appreciate the nice touches they put into making it feel like the world of Final Fantasy 7 in itself.

I would definitely take Final Fantasy VII over Final Fantasy VII Rebirth due to my visual impairment. The text in Final Fantasy VII is a lot larger and easier for me to read compared to the Rebirth. I'm a PC player and I don't have an XBOX Series X or PlayStation 5. My 42" LG OLED TV is the upper limit in terms of screen size. For accessing the menus, I suppose I can buy a 55" or 65" OLED TV and stand up if I need to see what's on top of the screen. I suppose I could set the game's resolution to 640x480 not only at the cost of bigger pixels, but at the cost of real estate and real estate in games do not matter if I cannot read the text. My LG 42" TV is arm-mounted to my desk and my TV feels heavy for my monitor mount, but it works out well since 2023. Oh well, since I don't care about voice acting at all and better graphics these day, I don't mind playing Final Fantasy VII just for the sake of my visual disability. Update after I wrote my comment: Honestly, I suppose I don't mind bending my body forward and standing up a little just to read what's on the top of the screen just so I can strain myself a bit. That is, if I give Rebirth a chance... If the text gets smaller and smaller as resolution increases (7680x4320 or higher), I will have to squint my eyes just to read tiny fine little print... I mean, reading small text in games would be similar to reading fine print in a contract or a service that people would often ignore. If you have fantastic eyesight, great. Just play Rebirth and sit about 15' away from an 85" TV. Lots of people took their perfect eyesight for granted these days.
Hearing redxiii talk in that voice made me shutter with anxiety. I absolutely hated that motorcycle guy in the first installment of the remake, he's not from the original. The specters are cringe to, I had to watch this to see if the game is worth playing. The original is my favorite game of all time and I grew up playing it, I'd rather not suffer the trauma of seeing the game destroyed further if I can avoid it LOL
I loved how you recapped the OG in this :) I'd love a video of what happens next in the OG, since I can't remember and it's been 20+ years since I played. That would get me excited for the next game. Feel free to guess how they'll reinterpret this in the next remake title.
Thats why they shouldnt have split it into 3 games. They could have still fleshed out and expanded on things that matter without adding all the unecessary filler if it was just one game. This way they have to force fillers to make the games articifially longer
Here's the difference. OG ff7 was deigned specifically to try to introduce jrpgs to western culture just like Final fantasy mystic quest (which failed). In order to appeal to as many people as possible, the story had to be as simple and easy as possible (a.k.a final fantasy for dummies 2.0) so that anyone could finish the game. This is why they added bonus content like knights of the round and ruby/emerald weapons. Rebirth didn't have to the same job as the original, so why make it the same?
The story was anything but simple. It was already convoluted; a wildly accepted consensus since its release. In fact, people asking for a remaking back in the day would often cite wanting the story to be cleaned up to make more sense (such as the party actually chasing Jenova, not Sephiroth - which confused most people). And there's no evidence to suggest Square was trying to appeal to Western audiences with FF7. In fact, quite the opposite. The company was very insulated at that time, and did not respond to feedback or try to cater. Sakaguchi was concerned with making passion projects inspired by Dragon Quest, Studio Ghibli, and other influences. There's even a quote from sebsequent CEO, Yoichi Wada, that his biggest failing was trying to appeal to western audience with later entries in the series (ff13 onward), losing the original spirit of the company.
That's not even true. They didn't dumb down the FF7 plot for western audiences. FF7 was accessible sure, but nowhere near as simple as FF1-5 (in terms of plot).

Same. I'll be 37 in August. The OG is my favorite game. This one is topping it .
"Same destination, different journey" is a perfect description. I'm borrowing that XD
hahaha same dude i just think after that hard boss fight im gonna be to old for the real shit in 4-5 years probalby need to play it on easy then hahahaha

Scanning rocks about had me throwing my controller.
Yea man what are you talking about half the game or more id say is completely boring in every single way possible. Luckily it all can be skipped
Yes😮
Oh no...

I just did that in Majora's mask earlier today. I actually missed it but I was wrong by one number only.

i know where you're coming from, they could have made 2 separate codes, a new one people had to find, and the OG one as well but with a smale suprise.
lmao i wondered and thought thats its sure the original code XDDDDD
Having never played either version of this game, hearing about and seeing snippets of these adventures in these diverse locations, it sounds really epic and magical.
Yeah. Of all the attempts Hollywood has made to nostalgia bate everyone. It pales in comparison to this. There is nothing else like it, but ff7 was my 1 game I completed fully in my life. So it especially hits hard for me. 😊
Knowing what will happen does not prevent me from feeling sad for what happened
Still cried for aerith even though I tried really hard not to lol
Hard not to be mad. They butchered the city of the aincents. Made the story more about the party's flashbacks right before funbling the aerith death.

Chicken side quest. That is the real divider between the fans, not the fluffs.
For real though, the side quests are the real gem of this game. I think it would be amiss to not mention the Gilgamesh quest line. But all other side quests are worth it, just Cloud having bonding time with his friends.
How is it dividing the fanbase never heard anything good on it and I can fully agree with it being horrible
That damn chicken side quest. On the last part that was miles away from the village, I was about to not do it 🤣
It's clear how much better than remake rebirth is when you look at what people are complaining about tbh......
I thought it couldn't be Gilgamesh at first.. Then I heard the music and.. it was Battle at the Big Bridge.

Why cant more youtube channels get straight to the point like bro did? I didnt hear any involuntary yapping. This is a great channel
I suppose getting straight to the point made 16:06 inevitable.
The game does a lot of weird stuff, especially towards the end, but overall I’d say it was very solid and greatly expanded on the characters, which I’d say is one of the best things they could do. It won’t be everyone’s thing, but I’m totally for it
I agree its a phenomenal game, but calling the stuff towards the end weird must be the understatement of the century.
@@Flopdoodle yeah I guess you’re right, I’m more just curious now as to how much further into the craziness they’re going to go for part 3
@@renren47618that not aged well Game from 1997 is better, yeah right.

Loved OG, thought Rebirth was a 9/10
My criticisms:
1. Some disappointment with return to Nibelheim segment (unexplorable shinra mansion replaced by generic shinra basement areas, dragged out cait sith part, combination code puzzle absent in a game with 50 minigames. Overall could have been way better. Vincent battle was an amazing touch though)
2. Can't return to Upper Junon outside of Ch 4 (I understand they didn't want to code an idle state for the entire town but it's a bummer)
3. Too many identical tower/bus stop/mako spring experiences and too many chadley interruptions
4. No quick materia character swaps and loadout saving
Didn't Aerith in original come back and wasn't dead I can't remember?

For the story and gameplay, og ff7 wins every time.

Just wanna say its *not* impossible to cross the swamp without a chocobo, its just stupidly hard and requires a lot of precision and luck lol
Will also say, I personally loved the ending, I got a lil confused with the reality jump at the end but I figured it out by the credits XD
I like how tgey fleshed out the charcters in the new games

The remake is incredible! I can't get enough of rebirth!
It really makes you realize how much better things were back then…. Also it was $40 for 4 discs, an entire story, amazing graphics (for the time) completely original characters, and a legacy to last for decades to come …. What in the kingdom hearts is happening. 😮
Good one 👍
You didnt understand what really happenned but its not your fault but games.
My man Cloud covered the trauma of Zack dying by erasing his death from memory and thinking he is him, I’m pretty sure having another huge trauma of Aerith dying would make him severely in denial and likewise erase any memory of her dying and thinking she just left the group at the end of the game
@@mimbaoJH Cloud Strife, the king of coping mechanisms.
Great work man, it is great to see compassion side by side
It’s a spirit form cause red xiii senses her when she touches him😊
@@rexwest4532 That part makes sense in both theories though.
I never finished the original FFVIII, and I've been looking for a comparison video just like this. Thanks so much for making it.

It sucks how Fort Condor is blocked from the game. It’s supposed to be happen between Junon and the Yuffie hunt. It sucks how you don’t to have let Yuffie tag along after the boss fight for her, because that’s completely removed! And Yuffie herself shows up in Junon.
No Rocket Town... Shinra shooting down the Tiny Bronco was like my favorite part of the game.
I think the marsh Zolom moment in the og game was one of the most memorable moment in the entire game
It served 3 important purposes, 1st it was the game’s way to tell us ok now you are out in the open world, shit is wild and you may stumble onto ennemies much stronger than you so be careful where you step into
2nd, it was also a testimony of Sephiroth’s strength (which we still didn’t know much about at this point in the og game)
We’ve been warned about this extremely dangerous and powerful snake, and when we see it for the 1st time, it’s been completely annihilated by Sephiroth, seemingly effortlessly , which really made you feel how strong and terrifying Sephiroth was
And finally, later in the game after dozens of hours when you came back to the marshes and finally fought the snake, you actually wiped it out like it was nothing, and it really made you feel like so much had happened since you first were here, and you could really feel how strong you got and how long the journey has been, which really was a powerful feeling
Unfortunately the Rebirth sequence does none of that, and make it look and feel like your average action packed boss fight
(I loved the game though)

You’re
Yep however given the party has already fought Sephiroth in the Remake timeline the way of building up Sephiroth into a threat the original did is pointless to repeat.
However they could've done a better job with what ended up happening imo.
@@CrazyxEnigma
Sure, but that was not my point
I did not advocate for Rebirth to redo the same sequence, I just pointed out that what an iconic scene in the og game was now a fairly average scene in Rebirth, that’s not the same thing
Not exploring Forgotten Capital was a huge blow to my enjoyment of the game 😢
@@bradyanderson1229Seriously! How the hell are they going to do the return to the Forgotten Capital with the Key to the Ancients?
They might still add it in part 3. I'm pretty sure we should've been able to go to Wutai aswell, and they confirmed we'd be able to in part 3 instead. Iirc
Part 3 has the potential to be equally as massive as Rebirth so I'm hoping so
@@Klearith You talking about Bone Village or Forgotten Capital? In the original game you go back to Forgotten Capital with Bugenhagen to use the Key to the Ancients so I'm not sure how they're going to do that with it being destroyed. As far as Bone Village goes, I'm hoping they use it as a means of getting into the Ancient Forest at least
Played and have the OG. Now I just need to get the Rebirth and tons of hours to play it. Looks amazing.
I am a HUGE Ff7 OG fan. But I have to say the new fighting system completely ruined this game for me. I don't understand how nobody else seems to be affected by it.
You're not alone. The fighting system in remake and rebirth is fine, but i would prefer if it was turn based.
Rebirth is massive and expands upon 26+ years of storytelling
A masterpiece ❤
Far from it. It has the same problem Marvel has when it comes to ruining emotional scenes.
The only thing massive about the game is horrible open world where none of the good story bits take place and the horrible side quests
@@SSlash itll probably be like the docks for the tiny bronco in rebirth
Man, we really got tricked into getting Rick Roll'd in 2024...well played.
True though, and however it ends up being in the end of all things, I think the multiple worlds angle is just to give people who want to see certain characters alive a way to be able to SEE that in canon, while also having the main timeline still hit all the same beats, there's something to be said about how much budget is being used for that stuff that could be used elsewhere, but still lol
they're not
just cause they go to the same location doesn't mean they're faithful, that's just nostalgia baiting
the reality is they are not even faithful in the slightest due to all the changes
story is completely different, pacing of events is scattered, the open areas are meaningless and better off gone
open world padding
changes to resolution of character arcs (more to Barret's friend than anything) devaluing the moment entirely - from a somber goodbye to a needless "sacrifice" that was never needed

@@marcusclark1339 say you didn’t play the game without saying you played the game
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
In that scene where he explains things he mentions that when fate is changed realities are split.
@@FlopdoodleI don't see how this argument is valid when Aerith still died.

Multiverse was old by the time avengers endgame did it now its everywhere
Beautiful and playable from day one.

as an old school fan I can definitely say "key elements" of the towns is definitely the thing I was hoping they would keep!
@@SSlash Chadley can go piss himself 💀😂
What a convoluted mess! Sad to see they're butchering a classic.
Yeah, they have been butchering a classic for two parts now and it will probably get even worse in the third part. It is such a shame and waste of potential.
Its also a means of keeping you engaged in the narrative despite already knowing how it plays out
@@loto7197 Bad writing has turned away a lot of players, so I wouldn't say it is engaging.
Excellent comparison, the game looks great.
Combat: Great
Music: Amazing
Graphics: On point, some settings like Junon and the cannon gave excellent sense of scale.
So, I'm confused. They are turning the original FF7 into three games?
Yes. Found out about that recently myself
This news is years old where you been
I was quite simply blown away by this game and had soooo much fun with it, the only part I was not as impressed with was the final hour or so where it did have me rolling my eyes at how many phases I had to beat of a character I didn’t feel like I should be fighting yet.
The OG FF7 has a very straight forward story and I think that’s part of the reason why it did better than most final fantasy. We’re not here for multiverses, back to the future or avengers. Overall, it’s still better than none.

Costa Del Sol is the name of 2 real beaches one in Spain and the other in El Salvador.
The original is my favorite game of all time and I grew up playing it, I'd rather not suffer the trauma of seeing the game destroyed further if I can avoid it LOL
yep same here, i will stick with the OG it has way more replay value compared to this polished turd.
I loved how you recapped the OG in this :)
I'd love a video of what happens next in the OG, since I can't remember and it's been 20+ years since I played.
That would get me excited for the next game. Feel free to guess how they'll reinterpret this in the next remake title.
I love that game but HATE the filler
Thats why they shouldnt have split it into 3 games. They could have still fleshed out and expanded on things that matter without adding all the unecessary filler if it was just one game. This way they have to force fillers to make the games articifially longer

Nice comparison!
