I'm proud of you Josh. I dislike painting more than anything else about this hobby except paying someone else to do it. I discovered patina paint jobs about a year ago and found that I can't screw one up. So I took all of my messed up bodies and did patina on the outside. Success!
Very impressive! That IS the best paint job to ever roll out of the Harley Paint Shop!! Let me know when you're gonna start doing this full time! I have a body ready to send to you! All kidding aside, it looks great Josh!!
And now we can call you Josh Ross, or would It be Bob Thiede….. I’ll let you decide 🤣🤣 Just you attempting the process impressed me and it came out really well double win!!!!
You've impressed me yet again! That looks great, Josh! For not painting, you jumped into the deep end trying to pull off a patina job.. and you did very good!
You can also use an acrylic clear (Rust-Oleum) to cause the paint to "lift" and flake slightly. Gentle wet sanding will make it look like scale paint peel
It looks really cool! Matt better give you some compliments on this effort! I saw zero foam used and the only thing close to orange was the rust! Great job and thanks for recording all that, I know that slowed the whole process down!
That looks grate for ur first 1 now for more fancy paint jobs lol n I love ur Friday notes it far better with Nicole on ur so funny keep it up m8 👍👍👍👍👍
After watching Moosejaw's video I gave the salt trick a try. I bought both sea salt and kosher salt to test with and liked the results with kosher much better. Made the rust spots look flakier
Very nice! I just did my first weathering on a pw cab also. One thing to check out of you do it again is mechanical pencil on all the body lines adds a noce touch
Certainly looks good enough to go beat on the rocks! (That’s a compliment) as I mentioned before none of my paint jobs are perfect and it’s just proof that I did it! Cool video Josh.
You did great on this. If you didn’t know already, hear up the spray cans in hot water to up the pressure and make it dry quicker. Plus the paint will go on much smoother.
Yeah like Wes said,... NOT sitting in front of the heat gun on the bench while you find your tack rag. Ask me how I know. It didn't explode but did pop the seams a bit...lol
Turned out great! Those Tamiya weathering kits are awesome. You're better off ditching the applicator they come with and pick up a makeup sponge variety pack.
I dig it! Nice work. I’m not a painter either and patina scares me but if you’re willing to give it a go it gives me hope. I’ve got the CCW carbon PW, might need to dress it down with some rust. Rusty carbon.
This is great content Josh. I’ve wanted to try the salt method, I even watched Joe’s tutorial, but was always hesitant as I’m more mechanically/electronically inclined. I’m encouraged to try now. I have an origin body I’m going to use.
If JConcepts bodies came pre-painted... MooseJaw is a great teacher, but he can't teach them all. Just kidding, It looks great. I especially like the exhaust soot. Nice touch.
Everything looked good and I think you did great! The only part that made me cringe was that you didn't put anything down on your deck mate.. at least some cardboard! Lol. Also could you throw a link up to that turbo also? :)
Pretty damn good and it was all you! 👍 A lot of these techniques come from the scale model world. I have also used liquid mask, applied with a sponge, and it gives a little bit more control on where you apply the chipping/rusting effects. I also use a technique with hairspray(!) that gives amazing results.
PSA: No cans of orange paint were used or harmed in the making of this video! Looks Great!
Those crocs though... 😄
I think you did a fine job! And I'm glad to see that you finally painted something on your own. I'll send back the Fijon now.
I’m quite happy with where the Fijon is right now 🇺🇸
Ha
Hell has frozen over! 🤣🙌🏼
I’m more confused than anyone
Not too shabby, Looks pretty good!! If there was ever a Dodge nebulae in space, this would be it!
HAHAHA Bobby Ross is back baby

After watching Moosejaw's video I gave the salt trick a try. I bought both sea salt and kosher salt to test with and liked the results with kosher much better. Made the rust spots look flakier

Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱
It was easier than I imagined.
BRAVO!!!
Very nice and now you can paint more and looks pretty good
No more painting! This was one and done!
Certainly looks good enough to go beat on the rocks! (That’s a compliment) as I mentioned before none of my paint jobs are perfect and it’s just proof that I did it! Cool video Josh.

It didn't explode but did pop the seams a bit...lol
I did see that in Joes video as well, but I was in a hurry 😁
I apologize for thinking your IG post about this was a joke. You’re on the right path with Moosejaw.
It was absolutely meant to be taken as a joke! This is definitely not a tutorial.
Dang Harley messing around with that giant scale stuff. Love my SCX24 Bronco!
I would say your a painter now! LOOKS AWESOME
If Josh can make a patina body look good, then anybody can. I guess I have no excuse not to do it now.
Nice job Josh!
Turned out great! Those Tamiya weathering kits are awesome. You're better off ditching the applicator they come with and pick up a makeup sponge variety pack.
I’ll just go steal Nicole’s!
I dig it! Nice work. I’m not a painter either and patina scares me but if you’re willing to give it a go it gives me hope. I’ve got the CCW carbon PW, might need to dress it down with some rust. Rusty carbon.

Very impressive their sir 👍🏾💯it’s the orange crocs for me lol
Looks great!
This is great content Josh. I’ve wanted to try the salt method, I even watched Joe’s tutorial, but was always hesitant as I’m more mechanically/electronically inclined. I’m encouraged to try now. I have an origin body I’m going to use.
Wow.. it looks really good. I like it.
Not too pretty bad.. Good job 👌
That came out AWESOME!!!
You might not fancy yourself a painter….. but damn you’re a fancy painter!
I mean .…French Blue, Oooh la la
That looks absolutely amazing!!!
If JConcepts bodies came pre-painted... MooseJaw is a great teacher, but he can't teach them all. Just kidding, It looks great. I especially like the exhaust soot. Nice touch.
Looking Good 😉👍
That turned out really nice!
I think it looks good and it has motivated me to paint my next Trail Truck Body similar to yours.
That’s a bostin’ job… really well done.. will check Moose Jaws vid 🤩
OK Josh……color me impressed! Nice job!
Everything looked good and I think you did great! The only part that made me cringe was that you didn't put anything down on your deck mate.. at least some cardboard! Lol. Also could you throw a link up to that turbo also? :)
I’ll have to find the parts tree. It came on the Axial SCX2 kit.
The only thing I noticed was your coverage was a little off, I could still see wood on the work bench, but the body looks great
Pretty damn good and it was all you! 👍 A lot of these techniques come from the scale model world. I have also used liquid mask, applied with a sponge, and it gives a little bit more control on where you apply the chipping/rusting effects. I also use a technique with hairspray(!) that gives amazing results.
Yeah an unlimited number of techniques to learn… but I doubt I’ll do any more! 🤷🏻♂️
Where Matt to chime in on Josh painting a body not orange at lol, looks good
Extra credit for the thumbnail.
That came out great!!! I got to jump in and try to paint something.
Very nice great job 🎉
I think it looks pretty good. Do an acrylic black wash over the body and it'll bring out more details. 👍👍
I’m sure there are a million more techniques but I’m already probably not doing another 😁
@@HarleyDesignsInc Wish I was that self aware. haha
that is a nice paint job -
Damn! That looks really good man!.....definitely gonna try this👍
Te quedó hermoso! Simplemente un buen trabajo 👏👏👏 felicitaciones!!!
You did it! Did you have fun?
