Made this for Thanksgiving -- let the top get really dark and gnarly before removing it (I removed it a bit too early the first time). For an optional topping, in a separate pan, I cooked some thinly sliced and finely diced ham with Worcestershire (also anchovy based) and orange juice. Paired with creamed spinach, stuffing, etc. Thanks, Jamie.
I cooked this at lunch today. Red onion, a leek and mushrooms with parsley and a cheese sauce. It was amazing. Everyone thought it was great and was impressed with what I created. Big up the main man Jamie O.

It will be even more tasty Jamie if you cook the onions in the pan first, make em golden brown with lots of butter! We have a similiar dish here in Sweden called "Jansson's Frestelse" (Jansson's temptation) that also include Anschovies :) IT'S SOOOO GOOD!

I want to ask if you could please once in a while help the overall general public with a plant based recipe, preferably SOS free. Please for the love of God give people something tasty and healthy with no oil, sugar or salt! Everyone is overweight! Happy to post our skinny pics if needed.
How refreshing and wonderful it is to hear a chef here on youtube pronounce the terms "HERBS" (with a H) and "FILLETS" ..NOT "FILL-A" (Where fish is concerned) correctly.
I'm going to try this without the fennel as we don't care for it. I think if I just replace the fennel with anything else or with more potatoes it would be lovely. Anyone else trying it?
made the sauce with coconut cream and turmeric & Hungarian smoked paprika instead of milk cream.. it was amazing.. highly recommend!

You don’t taste the anchovies. It just adds a saltiness and depth of flavor, without the fishy taste!
