Jamie... you are as sweet as your desserts. You cook and teach with such passion and care and that has never changed in the years I've followed your work. Thanks for all you do.
Made just now! Absolutely smashing. Made some customizations to suit my gluten free diet. Used buckwheat, coconut flour and a lot of almond four and used coconut sugar instead of white sugar. A tiny bit of pink salt and apple cider vinegar to the crumble to test and it came beyond my expectations! My first crumble is a success! Thanks for the lesson and inspiration; I was intimidated to do this but u made it so simple and easy to make!!
Best way to add the butter is freeze it then use either a box grater or food processor- I do it that way for homemade biscuits and it is absolutely fantastic
Tried this recipe yesterday and it was a DELIGHT 🤤 I added a little cinnamon to the apples while they were cooking on the stove and they turned out sooo good !
Being from Australia crumble isn’t too common among my friends. But I have such good memories of cooking with my Gran (who is from Bath) making the most delicious crumble of all- the simple apple crumble with a twist: rhubarb. 100% best way to spice it up- apple and rhubarb crumble.
That's the nice thing about crumble - it's just stewed fruit with a crunchy topping and you can mix together more or less what you like. Apple and rhubarb is a classic combo (with custard). I moved to Bath for work a couple of years ago - great city, and a great culinary heritage too!
Huh, I just found out from the Internet. Queenslander here, and I heard it was nice, thought I’d give it a try. Definitely something I’ll have to attempt, they all look so delicious!

The first time I cooked pasta, I had used Jamie's pasta sauce and followed his recipe! It turned out amazing and years later, I'm still following the same recipe 💕 Can't wait to try making these crumbles!
Jamie, I’m a fan of your cooking. I like your down to earth manner. I’ve recently purchased your 2016 Christmas cookbook, in time for Christmas 2020. Not sure why it’s taken me 4 years to buy. The recipes look delicious and the book presentation is excellent. Thank you for inspiring us all. The fruit crumbles, in this vlog, look easy to make and delicious - thank you 🍏🍎🍋
Might sound cazy but adding some chopped basil to the berry crumble would have made it even more amazing. Basil goes so well with berries. Especially blueberries.
For a moment, 10 year old Jamie smiled as he dove in to the Apple Crumble. All three were amazing, simple, and look tasty. For someone who doesn't feel like baking often...I even felt like this was doable on a weeknight.
I like to do half wholemeal and half white. I always put oats, nuts and seeds in, plus a pinch of salt and cut the sugar by half. I don’t have that much of a sweet tooth so rhubarb is my favourite and always with Birds custard.
Crumble is a family favourite. My kids grew up on homemade crumble. I always have put oats and nuts and or seeds in my crumble. I don’t remember ever using flour though.
Love love all crumbles. I will be making extra crumble and popping it in the freezer great idea. All these fruits will come in and take turns with all our seasons here in Canada Ontario.
Love that you kept the main topping as flour butter sugar and only added oats as a variation. So many just only ever use the oats and not the main flour butter sugar. Though I don't know why you need to cook the fruit separately . I had always learned to make it all in one with the fruit and topping and 45 -50 minutes even 60 gives it a nice caramel crunch to the sugar. I like the addition of the almonds to the berries.
here during self isolation COVID-19 my sister dropped off a box of groceries for me (on my onesies) thing is there was a BIG BAG of apples in it - after eating an apple a day for two weeks - am at the point where I’m needing this - thnx James 💕🙏💕 from 🇨🇦 keep well
