@Inquisitor Chomag of the Ordo Malleus by doing things like changing the camera angles, implementing a vastly different UI, add vehicles or something like that etc. Ralph said they sped things up a bit and added gore which is making it a little different by itself. I'm not saying it's bad at all, but for $60 (compared to XCOM Chimera Squad which is $10 for example), I was expecting at least some kind of base system like all the other games have

I hope the Mass Effect series picks up on this style of gameplay. The class selection, cooldown abilities, and skill trees in those games would be implemented well into a xcom-like game.
So I’ve been a major gears fan and one thing that the community has hated the most of the Gears 5 has been the lighter tone at times. Hopefully the community will like this more but I do feel like it’s an acquired taste.
Price point is is certainly off, 30-40 seems more reasonable given its lack of strategic layer. Chimera squad is what, 10 bucks right now? Hard to justify the game at 60 given it brings little new to the table and the offerings available from its peers.
BLACKx114 i know right! There must be some sort of coding issue maybe or internal flaw for xbox but Microsoft touts it’s ‘play anywhere’ marketing so you think they’d have it optimized for Xbox at the same time of release. Disappointing.
As much as I'm looking forward to the gameplay, I'm kind of dissapointed they didn't just base the game on an unconnected squad from the greater narrative, perhaps a new platoon trying to lead groups of civilians on a "march" to Ephyra in the wake of Emergence Day, coated in all the Grit and Drama. Since they're making it kind of like X-Com, I would have also enjoyed having a Permadeath system that affected the narrative by the end of the game. Still pumped to play a new Tactical take on the gears formula.
3:55 I hate it when games do "endless customization" in such a dumb way. Reminds me of MK11 where I watched a red Sub-Zero fight a blue Scorpion - that's just wrong. F this type of customization, make it look like GEARS, not UnicornJizz!
I wish I could take control of units in this game akin to the ghost stuff from the driver San Francisco game, and then zoom back out to control the units like a normal strategy game
Great review and you're so right Gears is a perfect fit for the X-comish formula. And the way it looks is makes it by far the best looking game of this sort. It's like a lesser version of Gears 5. By the way does the game offer replayability ? Or are levels made and not randomized.
Man, as goofy as it sounds I want Ralph to take a look at Runescape in 2020, I feel like the game's been overlooked on TH-cam considering the ludicrous popularity of it recently
You should review snowrunner! It's absolutely fantastic.. It's basically death stranding with off road vehicles. A new genre of gameplay, pretty much the most zen game I've ever played, it makes the hours fly like nothing else.. It's almost impossible to describe what makes it good but if anyone could it's you. I'd love to know what you think..
Arguing that an overview perspective where you just watch the battle, is good for gears, is a pretty harsh criticism of gears of war gameplay, if you look at it the other way ^^;
It depends on a lot of stuff. If you played fire emblem in the past and enjoyed it this may be entertaining but if you hate anything anime then this isn't for you. Three houses has a lot of stuff inside and outside battles. And a lot of stuff outside of those battlefields involves a lot of generic anime tropes. But if you dont mind those things it is an absolute blast to play. Sorry if this is wordy but three houses is quite different from most SRPG's.
@@MiguelHernandez-lo5lg not at all, I really appreciate the input! I've only played 1 other Fire Emblem game before and thought it was great. On the DS I believe. A couple months ago I finished Persona 5 and loved it. I'm not huge on anime but felt it had a lot of anime tropes, however I was able to get past it. So with this game having a big "social" aspect to it combined with the other ganeplay... I think I'm on board now. Thank you.
XCOM, Fire Emblem, stuff like Mutant Year Zero, now this. We need more turn based strategy! It's the best and deepest you can do IMO. Let's hope for some more announcements!
If you like this game then you should try out troubleshooters. It recently released from early access and is best described as anime xcom with looter and RPG mechanics.
Man I totally forgot about this game. Not in a bad way, it was announced then they never spoke about it again. I'm happy that it's finally out tho because when they announced it I was fairly excited so glad to hear it's good

Gears tactic is 249k idr (about 17 usd) in Indonesian steam page. I might buy it. Blessed regional pricing.
Now I just found out Gears V, an AAA games is 249k idr too (17 USD)
3:55 I hate it when games do "endless customization" in such a dumb way. Reminds me of MK11 where I watched a red Sub-Zero fight a blue Scorpion - that's just wrong. F this type of customization, make it look like GEARS, not UnicornJizz!
5:05, uh that is a problem how? Just because you don't find the characters interesting doesn't mean it's bad
I wish I could take control of units in this game akin to the ghost stuff from the driver San Francisco game, and then zoom back out to control the units like a normal strategy game
im just curious, did you completely give up on making the ffxiv review?
1:24 - well, of course it is, they gave Peach a massive fuck-off shotgun - what's not to be amazed by?
Great review and you're so right Gears is a perfect fit for the X-comish formula.
And the way it looks is makes it by far the best looking game of this sort. It's like a lesser version of Gears 5.
By the way does the game offer replayability ? Or are levels made and not randomized.
Any word on mod support?
I'm not a big fan of all the extra "chores" in XCOM, love the combat though, so this looks right up my alley.
Sad it's not on console but I'm glad atleast we have a new meaty gears game out now that doesn't feel like a microtransactions trap
It looks awesome, €70,- is a bit much though
Try game pass for pc! Play and then cancel if you don’t like it. You can get the first month for $1.
@@oliverhancock5397 yes that is a good deal thnx

Its been months since the last boat metaphor.
I am missing boat metaphors
It's actually good this way for people who don't have all day.

Man, as goofy as it sounds I want Ralph to take a look at Runescape in 2020, I feel like the game's been overlooked on TH-cam considering the ludicrous popularity of it recently
So no horde or endless mode?
Sold me with "personal power ranger death squad".
who knew that a game with waist high cover can convert so easily into the turn based full cover half cover gameplay
but do their black soldier have ave flashbacks from their time in the NFL?
I always thought they should of killed off gears after the 3rd one but it’s nice to see them revive it in a cool way
Damn, by Illidan himself...
Arguing that an overview perspective where you just watch the battle, is good for gears, is a pretty harsh criticism of gears of war gameplay, if you look at it the other way ^^;
“Side missions” -> “they aren’t optional”
Uh...?
Is this a good game for a new comer to this genre??
Ralph, I've really been having my eye on Fire Emblem 3 Houses lately. Worth picking up?
I might check this out. I love strategy, and I even plays Gears Pop a super light strategy free to play game on smart phones.
If Cyberpunk does not live up to the hype Tactics is without a doubt my 2020 GOTY.
I’m glad I took a chance and pre-ordered it. Especially with the 10$ discount on pc. Can’t wait to dive into it
Great review as always
If you like this game then you should try out troubleshooters. It recently released from early access and is best described as anime xcom with looter and RPG mechanics.
Man I totally forgot about this game. Not in a bad way, it was announced then they never spoke about it again. I'm happy that it's finally out tho because when they announced it I was fairly excited so glad to hear it's good
but can you wall bounce ?
Game pass for windows is literally a dollar right now and you get to play this. Yes plz
I don’t to play this because I know what will happen to our mad scientist Locust, he’s my favorite character and I don’t want to see him die
Player customization is better here than any other traditional gears of war game.
