I started to want to buy a bike in Feb of 2021. By September with all the videos I kept seeing I decided I wanted a Rebel but couldn't decide between the 500 and 1100. Dealership sold their 500 and they had an 1100 on the way so I took that as fate and told the guy on the phone I had a down payment ready to go. October it showed up at my house and I've been in love ever since. Swapped out the mirrors for bar ends, the exhaust for something a bit more throaty and less sewing machine, and got a new seat. I haven't regretted it once.
Hi, this is a great video, thank you for this I’m looking to get a rebel 500 or 1100 for my first bike here in Victoria. I had experience riding for about 7 years, but stopped for a year now after I moved country. I am getting a bike to mostly do daily commute and get around (mostly in the city and inner suburbs), but would definitely be going on freeway as well. And I’m also looking to do 1400km round trip kind of trip on it to regional Victoria. Do you reckon the rebel is gonna be up to the task without breaking my back or traumatise my butt (I’m 5ft2)? 😂 and if yes, do you reckon a 500 or 1100? 👀
You will probably need to look at a more comfy seat and consider forward mounted pegs for any longer ride. I would prefer the 1100 for a such journey mainly because of the cruise control. But around town and short freeway trips the 500 would be capable. Good luck with your re-entry into the world of biking.
@@motorcyclingdownunder literally just purchased a 1100 today! I’ll ride it around for longer trips and then eventually do a 8 hour trip. I’ll see if I need to change the seat and the pegs! Thank you for the kind words! :))
I see they offer a 25mm higher seat in the UK. Would that make it more acceptable for touring ? I’m seriously considering buying one of these but most reviews do point out the low seat height as one of the negatives.
The only problem I have with the ergonomics is the peg height is a little higher than I would like and my hip aches a little for the first 5 to 10 minutes of every ride .. but that soon goes away and I enjoy the cruiser position and feel which is so different to my other bikes.
Same motor as Africa Twin so capable of similar speeds but does have a limiter just before 100mph/160kmh. Cruises easily at 120/130 in fact hard to keep it lower than that on the open road which is why the cruise control is very handy.

What’s its top speed? How comfortably does it cruise on 120-30kph?

@ have there been high speed wobbles? I’ve heard that’s a thing with them
@@aldogPS5 Haven't experienced it myself but then I don't ride this bike above 85 mph ... I understand the solution is a better set of tyres.
so now we're impulse buying bikes? 😂Damn, I wish I could
I wish I could do more as well. Which is why I am reluctant to walk into any dealerships at the moment.
Cruisy location too
👍
