Some of the later comments remark that Liberace didn't need sheet music because he had the songs memorized. To a certain extent this is true but his vast and extensive training in classical music gave him complete mastery over the instrument. I attended many of his concerts and saw him take requests and he could play anything the audience threw at him. He was the consummate musician.
Great talent and personality. Looking at his eccentric look of him in high-heeled boots for a moment reminded me of the great Elton John ... Obviously different musical genres but the show certainly have something in common.
Just watch any competent pianist in concert. They don't end to read thr music either. They've memorized the score and concentrate on interpretation thr music. But most of his playing is schmaltz, not like Rach 2nd or 3rd. Beer barrel polka and Stephen Foster so gs aren't in the same class.
