They came in so happy and smilling and greeted me, I was sitting next to his table and he went into the kitchen and joked and thanked with the help. He asked for a home made meal and desert. They did not have desert, my daughter piked up and said my brother is home from medical school and he can quickly make a German cake for you and Liberace was thrilled. He gave the lead cook, an older lady, a free fully paid trip, fullly compted trip with money to play with, for a Las Legas three day vacation for two. I care not for what has been said about his sexuality, he has been so underrated as a musician, this video proves otherwise. What is sad is that we've lost him, a rare talent with fourish and personality. It is such a pity his home has fallen into disrepair, I'm not saying it should be a shrine, but a place of respect refurbished and restored, somewhere his admirers can feel close and part of what and who he was.
Lets be honest. His musicianship is...just competent. Nobody collects Liberace records - he regularly makes little mistakes and his phrasing is not always the best. He picks easy, popular tunes. Liberace is making heaven happier. Liberace thank you for to share your talent with us. The very best Stardust ever performed. He was a genius on piano.
Such a gentle and kind human being. So very dedicated to his music. He grew up on the south side of Milwaukee and was made fun of by his classmates because he and his brother George would do nothing but practice when they were out of school. Such incredible talent unleashed in the depths of devotion and focus proves that there is always the source of all things guiding us and in us. He was awesome and that is so very inadequate to describe this beautiful human being who brought joy to so many people with his music. God rest your Beautiful Soul Liberace.
Very well said, Jim Mayhew. I agree with you. Such talent is a gift from the Creator. Unfortunately, there were those who made his life difficult. Indeed he brought joy and refinement to our lives. God rest his Beautiful Soul.

I would love to get my hands on it so I can have a digital version and then I would be glad of course to send it back after that.
Liberace had a wonderful memory!!! He was a class act. I never once saw him use any sheet music in any of his performances. He played from memory. Love his presentation. Brilliantly done.
Un pianista genial. Creativo. Tocaba las partes más bonitas de grandes obras pianisticas en un estilo lleno de virtuosismo tal y a la vez romántico. Solo queda el recuerdo de sus Interpretaciones u unicas y geniales.
He may have seemed that from his TV and stage persona but any biography of the man will tell a much darker story especially when it comes to the stories of his young male 'consorts'...
@@snufflehound Cheesy...? Yes, quite over the top, deliberately so. To poke fun at one self and others who did the Rhinestone outfits as entertainers and do it in such a fun and classy way. That takes style man, styyyllle.
Wonderfully said, Cathy, yes, isn't he a cheer-up ? Whenever I listen to Liberace he does lift up my spirits. What a positive person he was ! He made the world such, that you want to live in it.
Wonderful talent. Liberace knew how to put on a show and he was one of the few who never took his audiences and fans for granted. He performed for them to give them entertainment and enjoyment.
He was not only an incredible pianist, he had a very creative mind, he was Mr. Showmanship, and quite the comedian. He spread a lot of joy and happiness.
He simply has a good sense of humor but for me he is a total entertainer and plays the piano with pure passion and depth of love for his profession and to his listeners.
I love everything about him ‘ his costumes .. his humor … and his music ! No one plays it like he did!! Oh my goodness .. brings tears to my eyes to hear him play now, on recordings!! The best !!
The Liberace show was the first tv program I saw when we bought our first set in Columbus Ohio in the early 50’s. His daily 15 minute show came on while my Mom did her housework. His theme song “I’ll be seeing you” still resounds in my memory. A couple of yrs later when I started piano lessons, his mastery of the piano became my goal.
He smiles as he effortlessly plays the piano ;song after song, ballard after ballard, harmonizing beautifully with the London philarmonic orchestra..how great..
The man who breathed life and soul into the music. Truly one of a kind, most likely we will not see the likes of this level of entertainer pass this way again.
What always amazed me is that he never used sheet music. You have to be a complete GENIUS to play all this music and never use it. Loved him, wish I would have had an opportunity to see him at some point in his career. THE BEST OF THE BEST. RIP in heaven, Lee.
My husband and Zi visited his place in Las Vegas and attended his concert. It was spectacular and enjoyable, his outfits and music goes hand in hand. What a collections of pianos. . We purchase His autobiography and he is such a wonderful pianist. He is a Pride of the USA!!! His contribution to music is magnificent!!! God bless you , Liberace. You are the greatest!!!🙏🏻💞🤙
Spanish Eyes and all the classical music Liberace plays touched the innermost chambers of my heart. He is an absolute Entertainer’s entertainer!!! He. Got the touched of innocence , honesty, funny and enjoyable to watch. What a gift to the world, he become. Lucky parents!!!
His legacy has suffered through the likes of lesser people but his light will always shine. The man was a genius and a jester. There will never be another like him. God rest his soul. He was the kindest man!
During the early 90s, whenever I would visit the States, I would stay at Liberace's Palm Springs home as a guest of his remaining family and friends. They became second family to me. I have never experienced such unconditional love as what they afforded me. Whatever your feelings expressed under the guise of anonymity, I thank you for your comment, as articulate as it was, and I wish you every blessing. Truly, I do. Thank you again :)
I agree Phillip. My heart is actually breaking looking at this. I've just recently discovered Liberace. I am huge fan of Andre Rieu he reminds me a lot of Liberace in a way.. Liberace is much more flamboyant but they are similiar in ways.
It's perhaps difficult for people who are discovering Liberace for the first time to fully comprehend the enormous impact he had on the world of entertainment; that even the likes of celebrities such as Lady Gaga today owe him an enormous debt of gratitude for having paved the way. To this, he was always obliging the media of their every request, there was never any displays of temperament coming from him. He was always a gentleman. Blessings, and thanks for the message :)
I still get goose bumps when he plays. An artist like no other who could, by his music have almost everyone loving Classical Music by the time he was through and the ones who were so ultra prim and proper and on the snobbish side would be clapping along with others when he added his humorous side to the mix. He truly was one of a kind and there will never be his equal, or better. RIP Lee, you are sorely missed.
When I was in Vegas many years ago and went on a bus tour around the town, when we passed by his house, the bus driver told us that when tours came by his house; and he was home, he would stop the bus and come out and get on and say hi to everyone and shake hands and give autographs. Not many celebrities who would do something like that. And people can be jerks and say bad things about him, but his talent was beyond compare. Loved him...
I heard similar stories from his family and friends. I used to stay in his Palm Springs home whenever I visited the States in the early 90s. I was told whenever he was in residence at Palm Springs, he would prepare and serve meals at the local church across from where he lived on W. Alejo, for the less privileged who would gather each week to receive handouts of food. When he toured Australia in 1973, he was giving a press conference at Sydney Airport. During his interview, he noticed a mother in the distance trying to comfort her crying child. Liberace stopped the interview and approached the child, knelt down beside her, and brushed away her tears.
Haydn Pollard Thank you. I am sixteen, I love music but never heard about Liberace before. I watched this video and his passion and gift made my soul smile. He seems so kind and warm-hearted and he plays beautifully. I wish I'd met him. I am very happy and grateful now.
I must be the biggest idiot in the world! Thought Liberace was a freak. Now I can clearly see what a loving, funny, awesomely talented man he was!!! I admire his strength for being himself. Would have loved to meet him❤❤❤
Unlike 99% of people giving a concert this long he doesn’t seem to be using any kind of reference or sheet music . To remember all of this during the pressure of such a big concert is amazing .
Speaking as a musician... after practicing pieces over and over again your mind remembers the notes after seeing the sheet music. Therefore, you don't need to read the music. It all just comes naturally !!!
It is completely normal for soloists to play by memory without sheets concerts of this length or even longer. I love Liberace. He was a great pianist in her style. Wouldn’t call him a genius gifted musician. But certainly one of a kind! ❤️
@@hernanmunozratto5899 disagree....he was a child prodigy on the piano and continued to be one throughout his life. He was supremely gifted and it showed.
That portion of Chopin's nocturne in E-flat major was excellently executed !! And the same for Rachmaninnov's The Bells . . . flawlessly played . I can only wish . I agree . He was gifted.
Not even a top 100 piano player. And I'm not saying he wasn't gifted but if you could have seen Beethoven, Amadeus, Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, ect. Absolute geniuses who took real risks with their music. Liberace would be the first to tell you he wasn't the best piano player but more of a pop star who dazzled with easy melodies.
as one gets older life slows down and theres so much more time to appreciate the talent of this man ,he is indeed the master of the piano and also of the interpretation he applies to hes music, a great and beautiful talent of which, im sure , there is no equal, and its such a crying shame that hes no longer with us ,but the technology allows us to still appreciate this beautiful mans talents along with hes personality which to me , was magnetic, he really is so sadly missed ,
@@sherlynnjunior3734 My Mum & my Grandmother loved Liberace - I would not have the love of classical piano I have today if it wasn't for them always putting on repeats of his 70's and 80's TV specials as a kid. My grandmother was herself a very talented pianist, but she was so self critical - if she'd had more of Liberace's confidence she probably could have made a career out of it.
When he played THE WARSAW CONCERTO I almost cried. 1 of my fav pieces of music. I've got the sheet music-it's difficult to play much less memorize! My mom & I got to see him in person right before he got so ill. Dad surprised in our hometown in New Orleans, La.Great seats-show was awesome. I've got perfect pitch & he never missed a note!
I love the fact that a black woman took care of him as if he was a son he was so kind to her she was by his side cooked him cream of wheat for breakfast the day he passed
Although he had a candelabra the real light came from his Playing and Talent He wasn't just a pianist He was Master of the piano and even after all the years that have passed his music still lives on "Bravo"
It was a very good job at the piece. I am quite familiar with it having heard my professional concert pianist mother rehearse it many times and listening to many recordings of it. He did put in a few flourishes of his own here and there. And changed the very ending just a little bit.
When I was 8, my mom used to play a 45 and the song sounded like a Hungarian classical song with strings. Brings tears of joy to hear liberace!!!! At my 65, his music still fresh, happy.
……back in the ‘60’s as a kid, my Mum, & I would watch his piano playing on his tv show. Never missed it, Sunday Night at 6pm. Think that was the beginning of my enjoying classical music.………thank you, Liberace, you were the best! R I P
How wonderful to see him in his role as a serious concert pianist, playing one of my favourite pieces, and in such a setting, with such an Orchestra! Thank you, Liberace!
He made a great deal of money, playing Vegas and other engagements all over the US. However, he was Indeed a fantastic pianist, deserving the best, the main European and US Stages. Seldom he was seen as a great Classical Pianist -- and truly he might have been exactly that.
THIS is a PHENOMENAL video! What a showman and musician! Out of curiosity, I played this video last night and was absolutely AMAZED by this man. Sure, for those like me not used to Liberace, it took me a minute or two to get over his effeminate and flamboyant mannerisms and costumes. But beyond that, I WAS ALL IN, absolutely floored by what I saw and heard to the very end. And this is coming from someone with a wide variety of musical tastes, from classical, to blues, to jazz, to rock, to metal, to country, to electronic music - whatever! What was just as remarkable as his incredible level of skill on the piano was how he connected to the orchestra and ESPECIALLY the audience - his adoring fans. For an entertainer to take his audience in, in such a way as though they were guests in the living room of his home, is extremely rare and touching, at least to me. I have never seen an entertainer adore his audience just as much as they, in turn, adored him. Gracious, humble, pleasant, self-effacing, humorous, classy, a gentleman - you name it - I cannot get in enough adjectives to describe the genius and humanity that was Liberace (at least as an entertainer - I know nothing about THE MAN, personally). Based on what I saw and know, I would place Liberace wayyyyyy up there in the top five, as far as one's impact on music and pop culture the world over during the 20th century. Like they say, I cannot imagine that there will ever be another one quite like him. LL
Great note. I fully agree. For one semester, (8 the grade I think), Intentionally I'd miss the school bus to stay home to watch him on TV. All U stayed above true - so funny & his music sent be to the stratosphere. Lucky Mr, saw him in concert once. He so enriched my life. Stay well.

The Beautiful Soul, really so
His music was always uplifting and made you feel joyous.
Liberace had a wonderful memory!!!
He was a class act. I never once saw him use any sheet music in any of his performances. He played from memory. Love his presentation. Brilliantly done.
No one can deny or diminish this man's phenomenal talent!!
Furthermore, he was a wonderful, kind man!

Extaordinario artista ! ❤❤❤❤❤
Liberace has brought me great comfort with his way and music; I listen often. Society lost a great treasure with his passing.
Well said, Richard, and SO very true!
I enjoyed so much Liberace music with London Philarmonic Orchestra ! Love Liberace !!
The guy was an absolute delight.
He smiles as he effortlessly plays the piano ;song after song, ballard after ballard, harmonizing beautifully with the London philarmonic orchestra..how great..
HE WAS A GENIUS AT THE PIANO. Incredible man.
He was over the top . We still love this great showman.
Liberace brought out the full potential of that Baldwin piano ; as he played on it so masterfully .

A marvellous Liberace in perfect harmony with the London Philharmonic Orchestra!
Here he's showing that he can actually play! Offering the world peace and harmony and a bit of fun. We'd need someone like him now more than ever.
You are welcome. Gosh i am totally in love with him ha 😊
:)
I feel the same way about Peter Nero. Are there any other LIVING pianists who master the piano in classical AND jazz like they do ?
I found myself smiling and realized he has the talent to entertain me at 43 in 2016. He was a master showman!
His music was elegant!!🎹♡♡
When I was in Vegas many years ago and went on a bus tour around the town, when we passed by his house, the bus driver told us that when tours came by his house; and he was home, he would stop the bus and come out and get on and say hi to everyone and shake hands and give autographs. Not many celebrities who would do something like that. And people can be jerks and say bad things about him, but his talent was beyond compare. Loved him...
he's a beautiful soul. luv him too.
Da Blonde What talent
You're right about him being a wonderful person. I knew him and sold him jewelry. You couldn't find a nicer person.
This sounds like something Trump would do.

Liberace was a consummate, versatile, incomparable pianist of all time. He will always be remembered and loved.
LL
