I’m 66 years old. Fifty years ago my mother told me she bought us tickets to see Liberace at the Garden State Art Center (in NJ). I said, “who’s that?”.. She said - “an incredible entertainer”. She was right. I was mesmerized by his incredible talent, his wardrobe, the car and his engaging rapport with the audience. It was a night I have never forgotten and my first experience with pure genius. I’ve been a devout fan ever since.. ❤️

He knew every song out there, simple or complex and played them all without errors. Władziu Liberace never stumbled at the keyboard and for 20 years he was the highest paid entertainer in the World!! He was indeed a Master of the piano.

A master showman and an incredibly accomplished pianist. The ACCURACY here is astounding. Not a note missed. Not a note wrong. Liberace is a nation treasure. And although it was many years in the making - he was finally free at the end to be HIMSELF and the fans embraced him.

I loved Liberace. I always wondered what happened to his clothes, his beautiful rings. His house that fell into decay is now back to some of its original grandeur. Thanks to someone who cared what happened to his belongings. Remembered always. Gershwin would have been so proud to hear his magical fingers playing his music.

Well, most of his costumes and jewelry are displayed at Michael Jackson's old house in Las Vegas. They are now owned by Liberace's foundation. He DID give a certain amount of them away before he died and most of those were auctioned off when the people he gave them too eventually died and their greedy families wanted the money.

After his show in Melbourne we got to talk with Liberace and several of us were invited up to his hotel suite in which there was a grand piano. He sat and played all sorts of music from straight classical to jazz. There was nothing in his repertoire that he couldn`t play. Such a gifted and talented man.He was very charming and kept telling the outlandish jokes and then he would play. I dont know how long we were honoured to have been in his company . Thats one memory we will take to our grave. There are no entertainers anymore. They have all gone to the great concert hall in the sky.

I started piano at 4. After A few times through a music chart I did it by ear 👂. If you start early it just becomes words in a poem. I r 68 n still play a lot. Made a living at it for a couple decades. It is like nothing else. Loved Victor Borga as well. They were gifts to the planet. Glad for the youtube living history book.

My Wife and I saw him at Lake Tahoe in 1980. Those who did not see him perform missed a chance to witness greatness. Not only as a real human being but as a performer extraordinaire, an artist, and absolutely brilliant pianist. There will never be another like him and well there should not be. I mean that in a very good way,, his sexual orientation has nothing what-so-ever to do with his brilliance and his contributions to mankind.

When I was kid practicing piano my Dad would often say to me. When you can play like Liberace then you will truly know how to play. I did not quite get there and still cant play anywhere near as well. But he was one of the musicians that inspired me to keep playing. he really knew how to have fun with music and gave joy to so many people around the world. I will be 68 next birthday and have been teaching music for nearly 35 years now.

I played the piano for 20 years & I LOVED Liiberce (still do). My boyfriend got us subscription tickets for seeing concerts at 'Garden States Arts Center'. Every year during the summer series, we got tickets to see a Liberace - & other classical & rock groups. It was about year 6 of seeing Liberace & the Dancing Waters & my man Jim, leaned over to me during one of the musical breaks, where Liberace invited the audience to come on down to the stage, & see his diamonds. He said if I didn't go down to see him at the end of this conversation with the audience, he'd never take me again. I always dressed for the occasion & realized these women going down the main aisle, were my grandmother's age. They walked very slowly, some with walkers or canes. I scampered down a side aisle (I was young) & was the first to reach the stage. It was so cool! He did his routine of "do you want to see my diamonds?". Of course, I said. His orchestra started playing a Strauss waltz, & he invited me on stage to dance with him. He helped me up the stage stairs and we walzted together. He was GOOD! And smelled good. (Don't care what his sexual orientation was, he's was a child prodigy, & put on a great show.!!!) It was probably more exciting than my wedding day.
I saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium in '65, the Stones in '67 & this Liberace concert surpassed the great groups & artists I had seen.
He was such a talented & versitile performer & I got such a kick out of him. Especially THAT night! Rest in Peace, Liberace.💔

Liberace, a great Master at the Piano Keyboard. I grew up watching Liberace on our black and white Hoffman TV set. (Remember Black and white TV?) Didn't want to miss a show. Came on the air every week. That being said, I have reviewed many of the comments on this site, and they are mostly all good! Liberace was the best. Some folks out there still love good music. Your good comments said it all for me. Thank you!

My mother was a professional concert pianist who played at a very high level (solo performances at Orchestra Hall in Chicago and such). She really liked Liberace's playing and felt he was a superb pianist. She was also impressed with Van Cliburn's playing when he burst onto the music scene. But she never cared much for Vladimir Horowitz feeling he played without much emotion.
