For years, I had just a mattress on the floor in the Philippines, but as I got older, it was hard on my knees and back, so I got a frame to help me out. It's easier for me to get out of bed now. The kids are fine, but my old bones need a little help now.
I'm not overweight or anything. I just don't think that I could get off the floor to get back up. Go to the bathroom to me times at night that would be a pain in the butt if I was on the floor lol
We have really nice beds here at our house in Virginia but me and the filipinas still sleep on the floor often.... in front of the TV sometimes... other times in the bedroom. Sometimes we just need that ol' fallback and it feels good on the back especially if you're used to it.

Mandaue foam 5 inch on the floor, one queen and a twin next to each other, wall to wall, keeps the 18 month old safe. It is a pain in the ass getting up to go pee in the middle of the night but oh well.

When I stay in Thailand that's all I sleep on I have the best uratex Queen mattress they sell its about $100 I buy a new one every 2 years I have the Bamboo frame that's about a foot off the floor that's it nothing else needed
Well, most Filipinos are 1/2 the weight of Americans (or less) when laying on the floor the amount of pressure they put on their contact points is much less than an American would have to experience, hence PAIN.....

Mom (wife) gets a cold a few weeks ago, so I decide to sleep in the top bedroom on a mattress. Big mistake, getting up several times at night to P , climb up is more like it. Sent the wife, sick or not to buy us a frame. Filipino delivery, started to put the bed together, wrong side rails, back to the store for the correct ones, left the first ones. ?? Some 33 years ago - mother in law was in the U.S. with us at our vacation resort near the Canadian Boarder. We have a park model trailer. Mother did not want to sleep on the couch bed, too soft, put the blankets on the floor, couldn't convince her to use the bed. ( she also snored like a diesel truck. Our son, age 5 at the time, sleeping on the 2nd couch bed would yell ' GRANDMA ' so she would wake up and maybe he could get back to sleep before she started up again ) Just a good memory.

I got a decent hotel for my in laws who are from the province when we stayed in Manila and they refused to sleep in the bed and slept on the floor instead.
