Thailand is a much cleaner, and modern country than PI. Thailand is much better. I lived in both places and Thai's are more respectful to each other or foreigners and carry themselves with honor.
as an american expat living in the province with my wife’s family i can empathize with that viewer’s frustration with the language barrier. my wife’s family are good people but i do feel very alone sometimes. thankfully i have my son to hang out with.

And I know she felt like a hero on her way to the hospital to help her sister out. She was strutting her stuff down the street, she probably didn’t even call her sister up to tell her that she was on her way to bail her out, just so she could flap her super hero cap more when she showed up, I love it.

If you want to understand English stay in your country lolllllll
1. Learn Visayan. Get the software or an app to learn it. Or hire a tutor. Speak it as much as possible.
2. Use a translator app or device.
3. When in Rome, do as the Romans. Kick off your shoes. Drink some tuba. Learn to interact with Filipinos. They are very relaxed and fun loving.
4. Set boundaries. Tell them they need to call before coming by or not during certain times.

Depending on your personality type, you can deal with that alone time as a real gift and benefit. I like alone time. Camping, I agree, After six weeks in the field, you lose your desire for camping quick.

Very good video, I can relate 100%. I've had 3 Filipino wives since 1976. Language problem existed for along time. But for the last 30 no problem but when I lived in the Philippines with wife no 2 it was hard for more than just language .
You should get an Oscar for this award winning show lol. Enjoyed fatima's infectious laugh good advice for that gentleman and fatima adding her two cents worth here and there was great. Hoping to move there with my wife from Canada someday.

My Filipina and I live in Canada. When I first went to Philippines over 5 years ago to meet her I also met her family. Her Siblings and neices and nephews spoke some English, that was cool, but her folks hardly spoke a word of English, and I spoke zero Bisaya.
I returned 5 months later to marry her. My biggest regret in life was I felt because of the language barrier, I didn't man up and try to ask her Father for her hand in marriage, nor her Mother's Blessing.
I married her anyway. We return every second year, and I too find it difficult when we gather and no one speaks English, including my bride. I don't blame her I can't imagine how difficult it must be to constantly translate everything for the Foreigner.
Thank you for explaining that this is okay, and I shouldn't feel guilty spending time on my phone or whatever while they do the chizmas thing.
Although we have no children when we move there we will live where we feel it's best for us, I know it won't be in the village, maybe in the nearest city of Cebu, or one island away or two we will live where it's best for us.
My wife's Father always greets me with the biggest smile and a hug, I kinda think he's okay with me lol and same for the rest of her family. I really do feel like I am part of the family ❤
Oh and on a side note, no one has ever asked me for a penny, but I will help out when needed if/when a situation arises.
Anyway that was great advice to the suscriber and just know your answer helped me and likely many others!
I hope our paths cross someday over a coffee (I'm off the sauce too at the moment) or a beer if we both fall off lol. Keep up the great entertainment.

I really enjoyed this video with a very realistic situation regarding foreigners and their wife's family.My girl also has a big family there which is very common in the PH but i had to tell her i want our own space for our own lives without other people involved but that doesn't mean i don't want to see her family it's just that there is a limit to everything.

Here's A Tip For You , If You Fly Into MNL (Manilla Airport) NEVER Get A Cab On 1st Level They Are Unlicensed Scammers , 2nd Level Mostly Good And Will Get You Where Your Going , 3rd Level All Licensed Legitimate Cabs But Even With These Suggestions Keep Your Guard Up ! My 1st Time In Manila Got Took For 1,500p To Go To Pasay , After That Got Cab Rides From MNL All The Way To Batangas Pier For 2,000p ! I Love Filipinos But If They Smell Green Foreigner Watch Out You Will Pay A Big Skin Tax ! LOL 😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣

I learned a lot of Tagalog and Chubucano (much more like spanish and spoken in the south) from my EX and her family when I lived there. After getting rid of her and marrying my Thai wife I told her straight out I'm not stressing myself to learn Thai. I will teach every person in Thailand how to speak english before I learn Thai. I understand what you're saying though dude but I had no issues communicating in either place.
Your wife has a beautiful laugh, Mark. I was in Dumaguete for the month of January. Got back to the states and had the influenza last week. Too much stress for me. Felt very isolated in the Philippines. Like nobody wanted me except for my money (which isn't a real lot.) Can't afford to live in America but don't know where to go. I drink a lot now but at least I'm not on the street. That will be the end of me.

Location is VERY important ,, 2 islands between her and family is good place to start. Then add minimum or 6 hours travel between for them ,, but easy access 1 hour by plane for you to return you Filipina and get a refund :)

You’ve learned the Pilipino culture and, costume and you understand. I too was raised in the village cannot speak very “well English” and, my family are also poor. I give credit a little bit to Fatima. When we started watching your outstanding vlog, Fatima doesnt speak English. Now, she is gaining more confidence to speak English. Fatima you are doing great but your husband is right. We tend to talk using pur native dialect when we are with our local family. You are learning English coz you are surrounded by American husband and American children. I am verysure 1001 percent..you will be fluent in English. You will also learn from Maria ypur daughter. Marcos, I like your idea...bring English tutor or do the English tutorial in the computer and bring that in the village. Like teacher in the Barrios. I am sure the people from the village will benefit learning basic English or very basi conversational english...they will embrace the learning! First English one of my nieces learned was “what she say”. Heard me asking the wife all the time. Language? Been with this Bisaya speaking hottie 40 plus years and I’m still having trouble with the language
When my wife, myself and my two kids go back to Vietnam to visit her family I typically stay 5 days and then head to Thailand with her full approval for 2 weeks. Then we all head home together. She enjoys her alone time with her family especially the fact that she doesn’t have to worry about my entertainment.

Having a wife that basically disappears for 10 days...what the heck is she up to? That would be my first question. 1 weekend a month. Max. And you be there. So.ething doesn't add up for a "wife" wanting to dissappear for a week and a half. Here in the USA when that happens you normally find her in Miami or Vegas. And we all know what she is doing when she goes there alone, or even worse, a "girls trip".

Forest G will thrive in village life but I’m afraid of those snakes around there, He hasn’t learn to be aware of dangerous situation and he’s free to enjoy and run around the village. If you’re not around to monitor his activities, things can go seriously wrong. I hope you take Maria’s future into consideration .❤

A certain amount of distance from either family is a good idea - both the man's AND the lady's...from my experience. But there are exceptions. Health reasons/children, ect.

Marry a woman who is educated and is able to speak ENGLISH...It means there would be a better communication between you and her. You have no obligation to pay anything to her family.

Most bisaya can understand and speak tagalog but only few tagalog can understand and speak bisaya.It’s better for Maria to learn both dialect tagalog and bisaya.We have aTV show here right now it’s called Love in translation .The guys are American looking for love and the girls are from different countries that don’t speak and understand English.Most of the time guys just scratch their head because they don’t know what say sometimes they use sign language

It's not easy for most 'kanos to learn Tagalog and/or Visaya. I know... I've struggled for four years, and I can finally understand spoken Tagalog about as well as a smart dog. I can make small talk to a point, until I get 'nosebleed'! But I'm not shy, and I seek every opportunity to practice speaking with Pinoys in Tagalog. We all get a good laugh, and I benefit from the practice. Funny thing is, because Spanish is my second language, what comes out when I try to speak Tagalog is often Taglish and Spangalog! 😂

Mark you will be the one to adjust now, try to learn visaya so all of you will speak visaya and have a good communication to each other instead of translating... it gelps grandma to communicate will to you then...
I pretty much do the same thing. Kinda mind my own business have my beers and chill. Once the brews start flowing we all speak the same language. You can always pick up on the conversation when you understand some words.

Study a basic Tagalog course. I date latin women here and I learned a lot of Spanish. Women love it if you learn some of their language.
We’re in Texas, and they’re in mindanao and they still cause problems. And I’m kickin in 200 a month and it’s never enough
And some can come around with 160 dollar a month but when you ask about it you get a tons of excuses they don’t have land to pay for and a house water electricity bills food still wonder how some of those girls can come around with 160/250
Learn the language. We live in a golden era of free and easy language instruction right here on TH-cam. You live with a native speaker so the ability to understand will come way faster than you can imagine if you just put some effort into it.
King in my case even if you don't live close to her families home it causes distress. If they know that their family member is involved with an expat, it is a constant problem. My girlfriend told me that before we met her family including her kids would very rarely stay in contact with her. Since we have been together they call but it is usually to borrow money. It's not to see how she is doing. It is because she has an American boyfriend. Problem is I cannot always help them because we cannot help everyone. I have to be able to survive also and I am on a limited budget. So they stop talking to her when she says no. For some reason they think all of us are rich. But we are not. We have to budget here also.
Remember when you lived in Barrio Barretto and said moving close to her relatives would be the worse idea, since they would come beg all the time. But things changes and having more kids around when your son have autism is a good.
If the swedish schoolsystem dont work for our autistic daughter she and her mother will live on philippines 6 months a year, thats the only way the swedish goverment will allow homeschooling.
Noone would ever come and ask me for money when im there, maybe only to buy beer for both of us, I would just say ask my wife she is the boss anyway.

Or you can do what I did in the village north of Hanoi, after one day just say “ I’ll be back in a minute I’m just going to buy some milk” got my ass on that motorcycle and flew like wind back to Hanoi. Honestly one day in a village anywhere is enough.
