I wish i played this game insead of Skyrim back in 2012. I played a pure mage build in Skyrim and was unable to do much and spell were mostly boring. I ended up deleting my mage. But if i had played Dragon Dogma i would had so much fun. Maybe i will play it once i finish Elden Ring.
Yeah totally do it. Its very good. I picked it only recently and have had alot of fun with it. Its combat is much better than Skyrim and i enjoy fighting enemies , it feels satisfying.

Oh and high fulmination has a secret move. If you hold down the same move again, you can direct all the electricity to your companion(s). This makes them do LUDICROUS damage, being able to shred through anything in seconds.
My issue with sorcerer is the casting times. Half the time you can barely get any shots off. I fought the 2 cyclops at the great wall and took 10 minutes to beat them. Fought them as assassin and took 2. I tried it with pawns that draw attention and half the time they don't do it. The enemies just immedietly agro to you JUST as you're about to fire a spell. And yes, I had every spell reduction buff plus the wyrmking ring. The spells take forever.
There is a rock formation around devils Grove which can serve as cover where the fire drake can't get you(most of the time). You can just farm it forever.

Thanks for the video, I actually did learn something from it. I've been playing sorcerer for a very long time, and I'd always dismissed Lassitude for being inferior to using Rusted Archistaff with either Miasma or Holy Focused Bolts. But the stalling effect from stacking multiple sigils, especially with "extend duration" headgears, is very good for letting you comfortably charge big spells like maelstrom, even on aggressive enemies like elder ogre. It also extends their knockdown animation for for you to do even more damage.
You probably knew this but if you have a pawn that is also a sorcerer you can use one of these skilld -high maelstorm -high bolide -high fulmination -high seism -high Glicel And they will create an area which if. Pawn gets near it and casts the spell it will "mirror it" You can't tell it was successful as they will say something like "Ill mirror you're spell" These will basically give them the amount of progress you had in the spell making it faster for them to cast it you can also pre-release the spell to use it again instantaneous

It's intriguing to see the Sorcerer here and compare it to the Magic User in Mystara, with their long casting times. However, unlike Mystara, the game doesn't freeze and piss off your fellow players.

My approach to DD:DA has always been one of two: 1. Focused Bolt for nearly everything. And for those that can't be killed by Focused Bolt; 2. Throw Blast
Spell sync is why you HAVE to play a sorc duo even if that means no heal from pawn until you can unlock 2 more. You want to decide what your sorc buddy carries instead of praying the rift search engine. Then, pick the spells you want to share. To me it was the second easiest run of bbi after mage archer
High Petrification with a rusted staff of at least 3 *'s is absolutely bonkers. Well worth trying. Don't forget High Miasma either. And if you get the Adept's Hat, they're even better.
The moment I fell in love with this game was when I found out I can cast the bullshit insta kill tornado spell a lich killed me with and that it's just as effective when I use it.
Dragon's dogma is such a great game my first playthrough was as guts and my main pawn was schireike. Was so cool. My next character is gonna be a sorcerer

Got pinned in a cell with an annihilator on hard mode in BBI. I was wearing early game armor. The only reason I walked out of there was the sorcerer using high maelstrom and somehow actually STAGGERING IT
@@ThiefofCrystals I have a warrior pawn using Twinterfang, he constantly freezes and knocks back Eliminators while I'm shooting it from the back as a ranger, giving it more chances to get knocked down. It was fun stunning bosses with teamwork

High Maelstrom is my jam!!!!! I love spamming it with my Sorcerer!!! I do love being a stronk magic user!!!! I did unleash Maelstrom near where other people's pawns were walking about......killed them all. Oops!

Sorcerer is incredibly powerful and has really cool spells. I just find him so boring to play as. Little monsters :" hold on button, releases win." Big monsters: " hold button, avoid attacks and let your pawn be decoys, releases button." The immense power behind them, negates most of the unique things in the game for me
As someone who always picks magic when given a class option and often left disappointed by games i am even more disappointed that i never heard of this game i woulda played it non stop
Correct! It can be important to look things up to make absolute sure though, for instance you'll naturally gain better magic offense as a Sorcerer than you would as a Mage or Magick Archer. Similarly, Assassin offers the best raw physical damage gains in the game.
On sorcerer pawns, should we bother keeping any of the spells at the base version instead of upgrading to the high version? Supposedly the cast time increases significantly in the high version and since the decision is irreversible to learn the high version it's kind of a headache to decide.
Never EVER upgrade if you want your pawns to execute their spells as quickly as possible!! (excluding Miasma since it's very quick to cast and greatly benefits with increased range and damage from its upgrade). When we upgrade their spells to higher levels, we CANNOT revert back to their base level (as you know lol)*. I experimented many times and regretted upgrading. I prefer way more that my pawns just do Comestion instead of High Comestion. Or Gicel instead of High Gicel. It's faster, helps the fight more and at least does something. People always complain about how Sorcerer pawns fail to cast or just... don't do anything other than charge their staff with their core skills. That's because there's multiple reasons to that. First is: *they have too much skills to choose.* The *less* they have, the more *they will use the few spells.* Buff spells shouldn't be given since they will mostly focus on using that unless if you don't mind them to buff you with elements. But then that's more a Mage than a Sorcerer... Second, *giving them core skills* makes it *worse* for Sorcerer/Mage pawns since they *will focus on using them* more often than spells. (I've tested and they performed worse with core skills. They just do them like a lazy pos instead of cast spells. I preferred to NOT give any core skills at all.) Not even focused bolt. And they performed better. Much better honestly. Third, *inclinations.* Utilitarian HAS to be the first since it *promotes somewhat spell casting* and better *positioning.* Second should be Challenger. It works well with Utilitarian. The rest turn the Sorcerer pawn into a mess. And finally, it's also important to mention *augments.* Since they also *promote actions that pawns will take.* For example, *Eminence encourages the pawn to jump and attack.* This is very useful if your pawn is a Strider and has Helm/Skull/Brain Splitter skill. You probably know some of these but this is also for people that might not know and happen to stumble upon our comments. Hope you don't mind it haha. Hopefully this helps you and others that find this comment!
@@byeebitch Well I already added the core skills for my Mage/Sorcerer pawn, and upgraded all the mage spells to the high version. For sorcerer spells, I've left all sync-able spells at base version for now thankfully. I hope in DD2 they let you choose to equip base version of spells even if you have upgraded to high version, and also allow you to unequip core skill. Can't wait to see how they will handle DD2, just playing other more recent Capcom games and seeing what they can do, the potential is incredible.

While i'm aware that Mystic Knight and Magic Archer are more "broken" classes (Great Cannon and Ricochet Bolt each turn their respective classes into single agents of destruction), the Sorcerer is my favorite class in the game. DD:DA easily has my favorite magic user class of any game (with Baldur's Gate 2, Diablo 1, and Dragon Age Origins being the only games to even come CLOSE to its sheer awesomeness). Aside from Death (which IS a major problem 😬), no other creature in the game has anything to throw at the Sorcerer that s/he can't handle. This class is the ultimate fantasy of a magic class finally realized.
Have you SEEN focused holy bolt? Sure those other two can perhaps burst higher, nothing beats Sorcerer for absurd, consistent damage all day every day, no skill required. When you can beat Death using one basic attack, you know that being a nerd is for you!

You can get sorcerer's band by purifying Bitterblack Gear Level 3 while you and your pawn is a blue vocation at the same time (mage or sorcerer. Dont use hybrid vocations aka assassin, MK, and MA while purifying because it lowers the chance to get colored vocation specific rings)

Oh man I can't remember lmao but I tend to prefer High Gicel for spearing flying enemies, High Brontide for crowd control (and style points,) Holy Affinity for Holy Focused Bolt (which is incredibly deadly, I should have placed more emphasis on that) High Maelstrom because it's funny, and I'm actually struggling to recall much else 'cause I don't usually play caster - for augments I'd prioritize anything that boosts magick or reduces cast times.
It's the Grave set baybee, comes from Bitterblack Isle (level 3 armor) and to this day I have no recollection of actually getting the full set but apparently I did lmao
While there is only one in-built save file, if you have your system set up such that you can access the files (pc or have your console connected to one) you can extract the save file to swap save files. There is also a mod for multiple saves in-game.
Now for some reason I'm curious if the augment that makes healing clouds last for a longer period also help the debuff clouds that sorcerer has... guess who's about to start a new file.

The slow casting is the one reason I just can't get into this class at all. I wish I could shorten it much more than what the skills and wyrmking's ring can do.
Some fun combos give your pawn the stamina hammer to draw in enemys the drop then hammer on them with miasma and maelstrom Caged fury + high miasma = win
Yup! Working on Mystic Knight right now, but Magick Archer will come after that! I've every intention of covering every class in the game, just had some heavy IRL stuff to deal with recently but I'm starting to get back on track.
I believe i have found something interesting about the basic spells i used ingles a lot at the start and as i was doing the cart escort mission i noticed it turned to grand ingles not sure if it means if you stick with the basic froms they become more powerful than the high forms but just something cool i noticed edit: ima dum dum and didn't realize im getting that from a ring. still very useful if you have the patience to charge it fully
Sorry the only spells i use is high gliciel high maelstrom high miasma holy affinity and high lassitude everything else CAN GO.... Also my main attack is Holy Focus Bolt.

Maelstrom can 3 shot a drake. You can use it to farm for dragonforging and xp.

Yes, spellsyncing is a thing, and you can train pawns to prioritize it. When combined with Wyrmking's Ring(s), you can get spells out quite fast.

Legend tells of some CHADLY melee builds having high enough knockdown stats to sweep them off their feet but I've yet to experiment with that myself

you missed my favorite part about fulmination, if you hold the light attack during the spell it arcs lightning between pawns. very good against garms

Correct! It can be important to look things up to make absolute sure though, for instance you'll naturally gain better magic offense as a Sorcerer than you would as a Mage or Magick Archer. Similarly, Assassin offers the best raw physical damage gains in the game.

It’s hard as fuck to fight golems as a sorcerer
On sorcerer pawns, should we bother keeping any of the spells at the base version instead of upgrading to the high version? Supposedly the cast time increases significantly in the high version and since the decision is irreversible to learn the high version it's kind of a headache to decide.
Never EVER upgrade if you want your pawns to execute their spells as quickly as possible!! (excluding Miasma since it's very quick to cast and greatly benefits with increased range and damage from its upgrade). When we upgrade their spells to higher levels, we CANNOT revert back to their base level (as you know lol)*. I experimented many times and regretted upgrading. I prefer way more that my pawns just do Comestion instead of High Comestion. Or Gicel instead of High Gicel. It's faster, helps the fight more and at least does something. People always complain about how Sorcerer pawns fail to cast or just... don't do anything other than charge their staff with their core skills. That's because there's multiple reasons to that.
First is: *they have too much skills to choose.* The *less* they have, the more *they will use the few spells.* Buff spells shouldn't be given since they will mostly focus on using that unless if you don't mind them to buff you with elements. But then that's more a Mage than a Sorcerer...
Second, *giving them core skills* makes it *worse* for Sorcerer/Mage pawns since they *will focus on using them* more often than spells. (I've tested and they performed worse with core skills. They just do them like a lazy pos instead of cast spells. I preferred to NOT give any core skills at all.) Not even focused bolt. And they performed better. Much better honestly.
Third, *inclinations.* Utilitarian HAS to be the first since it *promotes somewhat spell casting* and better *positioning.* Second should be Challenger. It works well with Utilitarian. The rest turn the Sorcerer pawn into a mess.
And finally, it's also important to mention *augments.* Since they also *promote actions that pawns will take.* For example, *Eminence encourages the pawn to jump and attack.* This is very useful if your pawn is a Strider and has Helm/Skull/Brain Splitter skill. You probably know some of these but this is also for people that might not know and happen to stumble upon our comments. Hope you don't mind it haha. Hopefully this helps you and others that find this comment!
@@byeebitch Well I already added the core skills for my Mage/Sorcerer pawn, and upgraded all the mage spells to the high version. For sorcerer spells, I've left all sync-able spells at base version for now thankfully. I hope in DD2 they let you choose to equip base version of spells even if you have upgraded to high version, and also allow you to unequip core skill. Can't wait to see how they will handle DD2, just playing other more recent Capcom games and seeing what they can do, the potential is incredible.

@@Qladstone Sorry for late reply (I rarely get notifications for replies for some reason) but yes, I hope so too. It's just stupid how we can't choose what level of spells we can equip. Well, I also forgot to mention that this is *AI* we're talking about so we have to consider that they're not the smartest bunch but they're also amazing when you know what to give them and what not to give them. Hoping for DD2 soon too! I can't wait oof.

While i'm aware that Mystic Knight and Magic Archer are more "broken" classes (Great Cannon and Ricochet Bolt each turn their respective classes into single agents of destruction), the Sorcerer is my favorite class in the game. DD:DA easily has my favorite magic user class of any game (with Baldur's Gate 2, Diablo 1, and Dragon Age Origins being the only games to even come CLOSE to its sheer awesomeness). Aside from Death (which IS a major problem 😬), no other creature in the game has anything to throw at the Sorcerer that s/he can't handle. This class is the ultimate fantasy of a magic class finally realized.
Have you SEEN focused holy bolt? Sure those other two can perhaps burst higher, nothing beats Sorcerer for absurd, consistent damage all day every day, no skill required. When you can beat Death using one basic attack, you know that being a nerd is for you!
Mmm in a way I kind of wish you showed what he couldn't do compared to mage also
Things Mage can do that Sorcerer can't:
-Anodyne (hence it being the given healer)
-Halidom
-Grapnel
-Spellscreen

Sorcerer's Band is acquired from Bitterblack Isle by purifying either Level 2 or 3 Bitterblack Gear

You can get sorcerer's band by purifying Bitterblack Gear Level 3 while you and your pawn is a blue vocation at the same time (mage or sorcerer. Dont use hybrid vocations aka assassin, MK, and MA while purifying because it lowers the chance to get colored vocation specific rings)
That remind me , when i cast High Maelstorm.then my companion also cast same spell and make me go blind and accidentally fall from de mountain , HAHAA Good Game ❤❤

So far i've only played as Strider up until mid level,then i changed to magic archer until its max,then maxed out rangerand completed the game with max assassin,but after seeing this and other videos about Mages and Sorcerers,i've been utterly amazed and just wanting to do my New game plus as both of those and wreak vengeance upon all those enemies and bosses that stunned and killed me with ease 😹 plus this motivates me to actually go explore Bitterblack more instead of giving up instantly after the Gazer 😹 So,i must thank you for such a good guide 😸

what is your exact spell/skill/augment setup?
Oh man I can't remember lmao but I tend to prefer High Gicel for spearing flying enemies, High Brontide for crowd control (and style points,) Holy Affinity for Holy Focused Bolt (which is incredibly deadly, I should have placed more emphasis on that) High Maelstrom because it's funny, and I'm actually struggling to recall much else 'cause I don't usually play caster - for augments I'd prioritize anything that boosts magick or reduces cast times.

It's the Grave set baybee, comes from Bitterblack Isle (level 3 armor) and to this day I have no recollection of actually getting the full set but apparently I did lmao

Dragon's Dogma only has 1 save file and I'm torn whether to continue playing as a warrior or make a new game as a sorcerer💀
While there is only one in-built save file, if you have your system set up such that you can access the files (pc or have your console connected to one) you can extract the save file to swap save files. There is also a mod for multiple saves in-game.
If you on console just play the game on a new user profile

The slow casting is the one reason I just can't get into this class at all. I wish I could shorten it much more than what the skills and wyrmking's ring can do.
Some fun combos give your pawn the stamina hammer to draw in enemys the drop then hammer on them with miasma and maelstrom

I believe i have found something interesting about the basic spells
i used ingles a lot at the start and as i was doing the cart escort mission i noticed it turned to grand ingles
not sure if it means if you stick with the basic froms they become more powerful than the high forms but just something cool i noticed
edit: ima dum dum and didn't realize im getting that from a ring. still very useful if you have the patience to charge it fully

Sorry the only spells i use is high gliciel high maelstrom high miasma holy affinity and high lassitude everything else CAN GO.... Also my main attack is Holy Focus Bolt.
i've not played the game before so i'm kind of confused, are you able to use all of those skills all the time? or do you need to change weapons or something, because it seemed like you were talking about 3 spells at a time
For pure casters like Mage and Sorcerer, you can equip up to six skills at a time and swap them out as you like!
